witnesses say the man was seen in the potrero hill area with a gun. >> alan: then police stepped in. we're live outside san francisco general hospital with the latest. >> reporter: the san francisco police say the suspect is in general general hospital, with nonlife-threatening gunshot wounds, the incident began this evening when police got a report a man was waving around a handgun in the potrero hill projects. san francisco police converged on dakota street this evening after an officer-involved shooting. evidence technicians forecasted the area where a 31-year-old man was shot by police officers after being chased at 6:30 this evening. residents of the area told us offcamera they heard five shots after employs warned the map to stop. >> they kept hearing him say, stop, police, stop. he turns on the officers, produces a handgun, black and silver. the officer, fearing for his

safety, discharges his weapon,se strikes the subject. >> be okay? >> the man was brought here to san francisco general hospital. the chief says he was shot more than once. described as a person well known to police. >> the suspect is -- has a pretty significant record. >> all again when officers in the vicinity were helping with a stolen car. >> they can hear on the radio and then hear the person with the gun description, and, hey, there he is, and the chase is on. >> reporter: the officer involved in the sheeting was not hurt. he'll be interviewed and placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated. the chief says he's going to be holding a community meeting with the residents of the potrero hill project sometime next week to discuss the shooting. reporting live in san francisco, abc-7 news. >> ama: vallejo police are

investigating a shooting. at 5:30 someone in a white caroa opened house. >> alan: a teenager who has been the subject of a amber alert for a week as turned herself in along with her boyfriend. the two surrendered to police in san diego county. ewan is in sorato disappeared from her home last saturday two men were found shot to death inside the home. her boyfriend, juan salazar, jr. is one of the suspect necessary double murder. >> ama: a bit of rain fell in the bay area. >> alan: here's a live look out. let's go right to leigh glaser for a look at the forecast. >> leigh: not a whole lot. much of it was in the form of sprinkles or mist and drizzle, but check out on live doppler 7hd, hundreds -- i'm telling you -- hundreds of lightning strikes moving up the spine of the sierra, right near south

lake tahoe. you can notice the arcing of the moisture feed from south to north is moving off the coast. hoarse the bay area and all of it is slowly starting to move to the north of us. we still have some returns, though. go ahead and check it out closer. right over the bay bridge here, heading over to berklee, oakland, a little bit of a return here, may just see heavy mist and drizzle, from fairfax up towards novato, and a little to the west now. between antioch and concord. also, we're seeing some returns, the higher peaks towards byron highway, livermore valley area, and we're also seeing all of the activity moving in towards the sierra, extending over towards the northwestern part of the state. in fact the warning is up until 11:00 a.m. for tomorrow, lightning strikes, dry fuel, and the air mass is dry, so a moisture is not reaching the grounds and the dry lightning

strikes pose the problem. >> any showers tomorrow? the forecast is coming up. >> ama: in santa cruz county, sakes ache fer fire is under control but firefighters will remain on scene to make sure it does not re-ignite. we were over the scene. the fire raced through a recall area off bear creek road, threatening more than 200 homes. the beckers were ready to evacuate. they live just a mile from the fire. >> we could see flames and started thinking about what was important and what wasn't, and started packing up our van. >> we got the computers, of course, decided to look for photographs that were hard copies and put the cats away so we could get them if we needed to. >> the beckers were about to leave but calfire controlled the fire at 12:30 today. >> alan: tonight, wildfire in shasta trinity national forest is 75% contained.

burning near interstate 5 and hays charred almost a thousand acres. all road restrictions in the area were lifted. in southern california, 250-acre fire is 20% contained and in riverside county, 25050-acre fire is 90're contained and in million mouth county, wildfire burned more than nine square milesle. >> ama: in oklahoma, ten fires are burning right now, including one near oklahoma city that has destroyed nearly 60 homes. here's the latest. >> reporter: and sure enough it was. the extreme conditions turned brush fires into fire storms across several county counties. at least 100 buildings burn to the ground. almost half of them homes. a daycare center was turned to ash. hundred owes vac waited in advance of the flames. >> when i left the fire was right at my back door. >> arson was suspected in this fire near she small central

last sunday the ride had a glitch and stranded a dozen people 150 feet in the air for two hours. tested have been performed on the ride all week and park officials say nothing appears to be structurally wrong. the ride will be open tomorrow. >> ama: drivers using the benecia martinez bridge will see changes. the two lanes will be closed from 8:00 p.m. until noon. the closure begins tonight and runs through friday, august 10th. fastrak only traffic will be shrifted to the single lane on the far left side of the roadway that bypasses the toll plaza. the lanes will be closed so crews can install a new toll collection system. >> hundreds of people traveled to sacramento and helped out the state. all part of the state's surplus auction. people crowded into a huge warehouse to bid on everything from cell phones to jewelry,

remember the atmosphere is very dry so the green you see on the screen, much of it is -- actually almost all is evaporating before it reaches the ground, but needless to say you might see a sprinkleout theo out there this evening. in the sierra, you can see all the lightning strikes as this band of moisture holes together and rotates back up through the spine of sierra, ukiah and lake county and exits off the coast. so you can get a sense the moisture is lifting to the north and that we're starting to dry out a bit here. so we'll go with more sunshine tomorrow, and that will translate into warmer temperatures. still mild out there. 64 in antioch. 60, oakland. half moon bay, overcast. mist and drizzle. 5 5. san jose, 62. here is a look at our highlights. scattered clouds and fogover night. we'll take the moisture out. the exception will be some mist

this place is packed with night life. ♪ >> you probably guessed we added the music but you get the idea. when the sun goes down, this place is hopping. all these videos and photos are taken by a network of cameras with infrared motion sensors triggered by anything that walks by. they catch some animals in action during the day and night vision technology captures life after dark. eric is a graduate student working on the project. >> we can study animals we might never see, and this is important for animals who are too dangerous for a human to photograph. >> animals like mountain lions. researchers now they were at jasper ridge occasionally but humans almost never see them. now the cameras reveal mountain lions are here a lot. trevor is in charge of the camera network. >> when we started seeing basically mountain lons here on

a weekly basis, we're a little surprised. >> reporter: researchers say the presence of mountain lions is good news base it shows it's a healthy intact ecosystem, including a top predator. >> a whole series with different poses poses and expressions. it's really quite wonderful. >> reporter: the system includes bobcats, who sometimes play with their food. and lots of county tease constantly patrolling. the cameras also trigger when maller animals are present. including foxes, a great horned owl, and a wood rat. the cameras are linked to a network. >> this is a wireless station, powered by solar power and has a wi-fi access opinion on top of the pole there. >> in the old days researchers had to spend many hours traveling from camera to camera to collect photos and video. now the wireless network allows
