shoot a suspect. neighbors called police when they spotted the man carrying a gun about 6:30 last evening. police say they shot him when he pulled that gun on him on doak street. abc7 news reporter tells us police are looking at the suspect's significant criminal history. >> san francisco police converged on doak street after an officer-involved shooting. evidence technicians photographed the area where a 31-year-old man was shot by police officers affeldt being cased through the projects about 6:30. residents of the area told us off-camera they heard five shots after police warned the man to stop. >> they kept hearing him say stop, police, stop, police. and he turns on them, producing a handgun, black and silver. the officer, fearing for his safety, discharge his weapon, strikes the subject. >> the man was brought here in san francisco general hospital. the officer said he was shot more than once.

suspect. 16-year-old eunis disappeared six days ago from her town. again, in monterey county two men were shot inside a home. in santa cruz county right now firefighters remain at the scene of a six acre fire to make sure it doesn't reag night. the fire broke out yesterday morning in rugged terrain west of los gatos. 7hd was ever to the scene. the fire raced through a rural area near boulder creek, threatening more than 200 homes. the beckers were ready to evacuate. they live just a mile from the fire. we could see flames so we started to thinking about what was important and what wasn't and started packing up our van. >> we unhooked the computers, of course, and decided to look for photographs that were hard copies and put the cats away so

we could get them if we needed torn the beckers were about to leave and cal fire managed to contain and control the fire yesterday afternoon. this morning a fire in the national forest is now 100% contained. it was near interstate 5, 20 miles north of redding. it's just one of one of several fires burning around the state. mr. plumas fire a 6800 wildfire is now 0% contained as crews pulled back yesterday because of safety concerns. having trouble with that. in riverside country a fire is 95% contained and another fire 150 automaticker fire now fully contained. in oklahoma at least ten fires are burning right now including one near oklahoma city that's already destroyed nearly 60 homes. mike beechier has the story. >> the extreme condition turned

brush fires into fire storms across several oklahoma counties. at least 100 buildings burned to the ground. almost half of them homes. a daycare center was turned to ash. hundreds of evacuated in advance of the flames. >> when i left the fire was right at my back door. >> arson was suspected in this fire near the small central oklahoma town of luther. the mayor spoke to families that lost everything along dog wood streight. her managers told her this could be one of the worst seasons in the stat's history. >> this has been a tough situation when it's over 100 degrees and you have massive flames and the streets on fire. >> this family, the daughter snapped these shots as their family abandoned their home. they feel lucky they escaped with their lives. >> we got pictures out, we got a few clothes and had maybe 30 minutes. >> i turned blue to the face and

that we work toward a solution. if a customer was charged overdraft fees from their bank, we will refund that. >> a lot of refund to come. some people were charged 30 times for that flight. superman expected to return at six flags discovery kingdom in vallejo. last sunday the supper man drive had a glitch and that stranded a dozen people 150 feet in the air for almost two hours. they were rescued. any injuries. tests were performed on the ride last week and they say nothing appears to be structurally wrong and they will reopen today. drivers using the benicia bridge will see some changes. fast track-only traffic will be shifted to the single lane on the far left side of the roadway

back into the 90s in our inland valleys with more heat not only through next week, it looks like next weekend. we are talking near 100 degrees. but this won't be an offshore event. it looked like the coast will continue to remain nice and comfortable. here is the next couple of hours. notice 5:00 this morning we have the clouds into the east bay right on through 10:00. then it begins to pull on back and by 11:00 we are looking mostly sunny with partial afternoon clearing at our coast and due to the quicker clearing, the warmer start and the stable atmosphere, high pressure building in, we look for a warmer day today. here's a look at that area of low pressure that continues to track on to the north and west, and you will notice that behind it the darker shade, yeah, that's the stable air building in. so our fire weather watch continues for northern california and western nevada. it has been cancelled for the lake tahoe area but until 5:00 the possibility of still dry fuels and lightning strikes and the strong outflow boundaries

that taxes a company's gross receipts. carolyn tyler has the story. >> david cornell owns brown anies, a hardware store that's been operating in san francisco for more than a century. he supports the proposal to do away with the payroll tax, which critics say discourages job creation. >> is it really a job killer. >> it can be. you have a second thought before you hire somebody because it's just one more piece of money that you have to pay out. >> right now the city levies a payroll tax of 1.5% on business was at least $250,000 in payroll expenses. just 10% of the businesses located in the city currently pay that. the gross receipt system would tax business revenues or receipts with the rate varying according to the industry and the size of the company. it's estimated 20% of the city's businesses would be affected. those earning less than $1 million in gross receipts would be exempt. a coalition of city, business

and labor leaders is pushing the proposed change, calling it more broad-based and equitable. the mayor said it's a game changer >> but we will tax more fairly and we will tax people's success and they would be much more willing to share this that than they would if we are trying to tax them while they are trying to grow. >> but the owner of this gas station said his taxes will triple under the gross receipts plan and car dealers also expect their taxes to soar. this one expects to pay about $30,000 more. but the city has agreed to some last minute tweaks in new business license fees of that made the proposed tax changes more pal atable. >> at one point it was rumored to be as high as $100,000 with businesses $100 million in gross receipts. and our coalition was able to keep retailers at a rate of $20,000. so that was quite a change in our favor.

>> now those new business fees are expected to generate $28.5 million a year. supporters say overall this tax change will create more than 1700 jobs each year and in fact they are calling it the san francisco jobs initiative as they now set about to sell this to the voters. in san francisco at city hall, tear lynn tyler, abc7 news. >> hundreds ever people traveled to sacramento yesterday for a good deal and in the process they helped out the state a little bit. it was all part of the state surplus auction. people crowded into a huge warehouse to bid on everything from cell phones and jewelry, mputers and much more. >> we have to get rid of this stuff because otherwise it would pileup in our warehouses. the items is come from surplus from agencies and tsa and state agencies and also confiscate bid the california highway patrol. >> the state holds the surplus auction every three months.

the last auction the state brought in $90,000. san francisco's outside lands music festival next week in golden gate park is sold out. to the "the chronicle" reports this is the first time in its five years run the concert event has sold out in advance. last year there were still 1,000 tickets available when the gates opened. this time all 650,000 tickets have been sold for each of the three days at $225 a piece. big headlinessers include kneel young, stevie wonder, metallica and the foo fighters. just to name a foo. just a joke there. the parks department is expected to make $1.5 million from this year's show. never mind next weekend, today is the tenth annual jerry day festival. look for the t-shirts at the garcia amphitheater to honor the leader. they will be there starting at 11:30 this morning.

the sea breeze and it should be nice with the sun peeling back to the coast. cloudy and mild and warmer today with a few low 80s near brentwood. we will talk about the clearing by about 10:00 and warm to hot next week. in fact, we will be up into the low 90s as soon as tomorrow afternoon. then about a five degree jump into tuesday. so here's a look at the clouds this morning. maybe a little bit of mist and drizzle, bike ride this morning, coyote point along the peninsula. so clouds there. but by about 10:00, mostly sunny for much of the bay. it's going to take until about 11:00 or twelve for san francisco. you see some of the clouds hanging along the coast there. but this area of low pressure that brought all that cloud cover yesterday continues to track on to the north. so it's just extreme northern california and western nevada that is under the fire weather watch today. but until 5:00 tonight. still look at the possibility of

lightning strikes here and, in fact, those strong outflow winds could spread any type of fire that this could ignite. now we are talking about the national weather service cancelling the red flag warning for the lake tahoe basin but still very dry brush there and temperatures pretty warm in the sierra nevada with upper 70s, mid-90s in yosemite. so actually coming down today for parts of the sierra nevada, but 90 in sacramento so the delta breeze not making it. in fact warmer numbers for the central valley. 70 in oakland today, 80 concord. a return to some mild afternoon highs on the peninsula with 75 palo alto, upper 70s san jose with 84 in gilroy. so today pretty nice out there. and then we warm up. about five, six degrees tomorrow. look at the mid-90s by midweek. upper 90s the end of the week. but still nice at the coast. >> a lot of our viewers still taking their summer vacations obviously. maybe when you come back next time in case someone is going

is extending well inland this morning. with mild temperatures we are looking at numbers in the upper 50s and 60s to start the next hour. then we look for the sunshine to move across the bay by about 10:00. so noontime 60s and 70s. there's a warmer afternoon almost around average. the coastal clouds will return and we will look for more fog tomorrow morning. but that's not the whole story. in fact, temperatures are going to go up quickly throughout the rest of the week. i will explain in a few minutes. terry. >> lisa, thanks. this morning san francisco police are investigating a shooting in the city's western addition that left one person's injured on the buchanan street mall. so far no arrests have been reported.
