information later today. the shooting happen yesterday morning during services at a sikh temple. authorities say the gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun killing six, three others in critical treated at a local hospital among them a police officer who was the first to arrive on the scene. he exchanged gunfire with the suspect, killing him. you have to check these out first images from rover curiosity are beaming in from the surface of red planet. nasa is celebrating after the successful last night first images show the flat bottom of a giant crater where it landed and the distant mountain-sized crater rim this is the most ambitious and priciest mars mission over the next two years the rover will the crater scooping up soil and drilling into rocks looking for signs the planet could have supported microscopic life forms. hundreds gathered at the

now stretching on to westbound 580 into castro valley all the way into the dublin grade this is going to cause massive delays this morning. at least half hour delays reported right now. a lot of traffic spotters reporting complete standstill westbound 580 as you approach 238 and head through castro valley this is a spot to avoid if you can take bart or ace train, they are not reporting delays, just avoid getting stuck in this back-up. cars getting by just avoid 238 and stay on 580 and find some alternate routes. there's an did in the back-up. this car could be -- could be involved. this is our hot spot, we'll keep you posted the, chp has issued a traffic alert i would an individual this area. for now we go to mike with weather. good morning. we start with live doppler 7 hd, you saw the clouds, it is

dry this morning, we'll keep an eye on sfo for flight arrival delays. one to five degrees cooler this morning as we head into the afternoon we have a warming trend on the way. mainly cloudy, especially around the bay and coast temperatures in the 50s through 7:00. by noon cloud back to the coast 59, low to upper 70s bay to inland. 4:00, 61 coast under partly cloudy sky, sunny around the bay, mid 70s. mid 80s inland mid 70s this evening. inland comfortable there to upper 60s around the bay cloudy at the coast, 58°. great news if you have allergies. we only have moderate amount of tree, mold and ragweed and grass is now low. it is going to get a couple degrees warmer each and everyday mid 90s by tomorrow inland same thing wednesday near 100 thursday, mid 80s tomorrow around the bay to near 90 by thursday.

mid 60s tomorrow to near 70 at the coast. we'll see how long that lasts in your seven day forecast. first here's kristen with more news. right now oakland police have responded to a shooting in the city's chinatown area. let's go to sue thompson live at the scene. >> reporter: good morning. manhunt underway here in the heart of oakland's chinatown. with us right now is lt. whilely to talk about what happened here this morning. this happened before 5 a.m.? -- >> 4:40 this morning officers responded to possible residential shooting. upon arrival they found one individual deceased on scene, homeowner detained still evaluating who the aggressor was. a lot of information still needs to looked into. >> reporter: do you have any idea how many suspects you are looking for?

>> we are still evaluating that. >> reporter: in a situation like this, what do police have to do? this is still fresh as far as the scene is concerned what is the course of act right now the plan for officers? >> we locked it down quickly and set up a perimeter and did a yard search and searched some of the residents next door. right now it appears there is nobody outstanding within our perimeter. we are still he -- evaluating. >> reporter: you said it was a fatal? >> right now, yes. >> reporter: anyone else inside the home, hurt? >> no. one person inside has been detained, we are interviewing him now. >> reporter: lieutenant, thank you. manhunt underway in downtown oakland this morning, they are not sure at this point how many suspects they could be looking for possibly more than one, fatal home invasion robbery in the heart of oakland's chinatown.

dinglasan in the traffic center a void highway 238 just got confirmation this is a fatal crash now this is the san leandro area as you connect from 580 to 88 though is highway 238 again lanes are blocked and you see quite a few emergency crews there a car was stuck underneath a big rig. we are seeing huge traffic jams. i'm gathering information now and i'll be back in just a very short while with more details. >>:16 now. tropical storm ernesto continues to make its trek towards the gulf of mexico this morning. the storm brushed past jamaica's southern coast yesterday bringing heavy rain the choppy waters proved to be too much for some fishermen. the forecast calls for the storm to move towards honduras today. storm is expected to move ashore towards the board arer -- the border of belize and

mexico. ernesto could reach hurricane status later in the week. we have to get you back to that 238 accident where frances sadly you have confirmed it is a fatal? . >> yes. they are sending a coroner to the scene one of the passengers or driver of this red vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle. you see they cut the car open. one person fatal, a crash and you see the lanes blocked right now as well as a lot of -- looks like absorb want on the road there was also a diesel -- diesel fuel spill. lanes blocked, traffic getting by only in the center divide. you will see the huge back-up that has developed on 238, basically a parking lot. now the jam extents ton to 580 through castro valley. i would avoid -- 238 all

together don't try to go in that direction with fatal crash it takes a couple hours for the investigation to clear up. westbound 580 you can try there into oakland. traffic is backed up into castro valley and starting to extend into the dublin grade causing at least half hour delays. consider bart or ace train because this will be out there for a while. i want to show you a quick -- a few alternates. here's the drive time on westbound 580 on to 880, saying 12 minutes but it is much longer. here's the back-up on to the dublin grade if you are coming out of pleasanton, you may want to consider heading northbound 680 to highway 24 looking good many or southbound 680 towards the sunol grade still delay-free. heavy traffic reported by the traffic spotters using the waze traffic app that will help you get around the mess

that breaking news is in san leandro. you can see what is happening on highway 238 northbound where there's been a huge crash where a car ended up underway big rig with fatal results. >> frances has been following this all morning. what is the latest? because this is a fatal accident we know lanes will be blocked for sometime it happened around 5:30, chp did issue a sig alert. it takes about a couple hours to open. you can see traffic is only getting by in the center divide. there's also a fuel spill reported and some absorbent on the road. back at the back-up, parking lot on 238 on to westbound 580 out of castro valley. the back-up starts at the dublin or in the dublin grade approaching the scene. avoid 238 all together. you see some cars heading off the 580, that would be a great

7th avenue here in chinatown. what you can see right there is the building across from us cordoned off with yellow police tape. police tell us that is where this fatal home invasion robbery happened. they tell us that one person was shot, we don't know if that was someone that might have been inside the home or perhaps one of the suspects police are not telling us. you can see a large number of police officers right outside that building, with the investigation they say this could take hours. the real question, as far as what happened? police are not commenting on that right now. they do say this investigation is definitely far from over. >> about 4:40 this morning officers responded to gunshots coming from a residence, 300 block of 7th street they found one individual deceased. they detained another person in the house appears to be the home other than. we are still evaluating what

male and one juvenile suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. anyone with information is asked to call police. richmond police have given new information about last night's fatal shooting. the victim was 16-years-old and played football at kennedy high. he was not armed. officers arrived on west mcdonald last night. second victim taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. police made one arrest still looking for another suspect. highway patrol investigating roll overcrash in pittsburg off highway 4 that sent eight to the hospital. all are members of an antioch family. their suv had again off the freeway near railroad avenue after 1:00 this morning. officers arrived to find suv overturned. chp says four adults, two teenagers and two infants were all taken to local hospitals with minor to moderate

they still don't know when they expect lanes to be reopened. notice how badly damaged that car was. it was oredly stuck under the big rig when the first -- it was reportedly stuck under the big rig when the first calls came in this morning. they had to pull it out from under the big rig then cut it open to extricate the person out of the car. flatbed tow truck at the scene now they had to put absorbent down to pick up a fuel spill from the big rig. typically, it take two to three hours for lanes to clear from a fatal crash following the investigation. maybe we'll see things reopen by 7:30 or 8:30 we'll keep you posted on that the back-up extends for several miles into castro valley almost into the dublin grade. cars they're going off to the

left you may want to consider 580 avoid 238 all together or if you want to an individual westbound 580 from the dublin grade an individual that sketch you -- stretch you may want to consider 680 to highway ten city four as an alternate it -- highway 24, as an alternate. delays have been 45 minutes to an hour this morning. again, i would avoid that stretch, bay bridge toll not bad despite a stall reported at the toll plaza. live look downtown san francisco some of the clouds hanging around causing the 77 minute flight arrival delays into sfo. oakland and san jose on time. dry this morning for most of us maybe a sprinkle or two, nothing out there. good news for the commute outside of what frances has been telling you.
