everybody getting off to a good start this wednesday morning. if you are headed out right now dry times 80 westbound highway 4 and 101 out of santa rosa. 6:02 now. in the news in morning construction incident created a scare at the world trade center site a short time ago. initial report said a fire had broken out on the 88th floor of the freedom tower the skyscraper rising from ground zero where the world trade center once stood. more than 80 firefighters rushed to the scene to make sure everything was okay. crews say the initial report may been someone welding. the freedom tower will rise more than 100 floors above lower manhattan. firefighters put out a fire at a home in santa rosa. this fire broke out 1:newery five this morning on price avenue. neighbors -- neighbors in another house woke up the two in the burning home, nobody

was hurt. investigators believe the fire started outside the home and spread inside the house. it took 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. >> in two hours the south bay's newest casino will hold official ribbon cutting ceremony. sue thompson joins us live from casino matrix. >> reporter: good morning from the south bay. the doors are open, bright lights are on. at 6:00 on a wednesday morning, believe it or not, the parking lot is packed. san jose's newest card room matrix canine -- casino is betting on big success. the casino opened yesterday they called it a soft opening for family and friends. immediately word got out and they opened their doors. the official opening will happen this morning at 8:00. this is a 50 million dollar remodel of the old guard den city card room. you won't find slot machines

here but you will find 49 card tables, big screen, restaurant, sports bar and valet parking. no secret matrix did have trouble getting a city permit to open. they had soap trouble they had to push back the opening by three months. now today, the city council at least some of the city council leaders and even the san jose mayor will be here to welcome the new gaming hall. patrons say they excited too. >> i think this place is definitely going to be a great addition. going to bring more revenue many something that is new, i think needed, i think it is going to be a fun place. >> reporter: nicole mentioned revenue, that is a big part in san jose they are allowed only two card rooms both combined bring in 15 million dollars in revenue every year. at least here at matrix they say they will have 800 jobs,

early eupbld cases show the fumes from the fire did not exceed health standards in terms of anything toxic. local hops and health department report nearly 9 -- local hospitals and health department report nearly 900 people got treated. abc7 news has obtained copies of some of the 911 calls made after the fire erupted. they convoy a bit of confusion by neighbors. officials issued a shelter in place order for richmond, north richmond and san pablo. police advised residents in oakland still -- hills to stay in. refinery fire's impact on gas production will likely mean higher prices at the

the hoover dam is back open i have an pick-up truck ran through a security checkpoint 4:30 yesterday afternoon. a s.w.a.t. team responded quickly and surrounded the pick-up truck. the man inside taunted police to shoot him, but he surrendered two hours later.

there were plenty words last night at that town hall meeting. some 700 residents packed the place they were we emotional and angry questions about how and why something like this could happen. they were not happy with the warning system. although the haz-mat department says 18,000 calls went out to warn residents to shelter in place. haz-mat director was shouted down when he tried to explain further last night >> at the same time chevron has the ability to push a button at the refinery to activate notifications, to sound sirens to start the telephone calls. that was started at 6:30 -- >> does my grandchild have to look forward to have cancer? do i have to put my horse to sleep because it has developed cancer? a lot of horses are getting cancer. where is it coming from, from

you guys? >> reporter: chevron has said it will compensate victims of this refinery fire. epa investigating the hydrocarbon vapor leak the original leak that ignited the fire. the epa says there could be stiff fines levied against chevron saying the company has a history of violations. katie marzullo, abc7 news. despite big plumes of black smoke the bay area air quality management district says the fire created virtually no air pollution. according to a analysis of air samples levels of toxic pollutants were below standards for the children and elderly. despite what air quality officials found, people flocked to local emergency rooms to seek medical treatment most for respiratory problems. >> i still don't have my

crash. now, livermore police want to hear from anyone who might have witnessed it. the head of california's fish and game commission is expected to lose his post today. dan richards was criticized by animal rights advocates for shooting a cougar while hunting in idaho, it is legal there not in california he even posed with the dead animal in photos. his fellow commissioners are expected to vote to remove him as head of fish and game but allow him to reman a commission member. he says he will fight to keep his job. new casino matrix set to open less than two hours from now. people are already inside playing cards as you see. the ceremonial opening takes place 8:00 this morning, officials want to take advantage of the date to

jane king joins us live from the new york stock exchange with that and why stocks are lower this morning. good morning. we should pay -- lower start here on wall street, we've been on a winning streak, three straight days of s, good ones last friday. blame it on disappointing results, including those from walt disney reporting weaker than expected sales. disney owns abc. mcdonalds weaker sales for july setting the tone. right now with the dow and s&p and everything trading lower dow down about 20 points or so, well off of the lows of the session we started off down 50, 60. bloomberg index squeaking out a slightly positive day.
