the fire was that crude unit number four and the unit, or plant rather was shut down, resulting in flaring. the fire was contained and it burned quite a while. and there is cal osha has yet to allow investigators into the damaged unit four, the crude oil unit. the agency says it still too hazardous. you can see from sky 7 there is a huge crane that will enable them to view damage up close. we don't know the cause of the fire but it appears that removing installation is contributed to it. and there is a small leak.

days. so many people coming forward the company opened a temporary claims office at the nevin community center. this is at the corner of 6th and nevin. the district attorney is warning of scammers delivering false claim reports to residents. they asked for confidential information including social security and bank accounts. >> there is two options, call an attorney or go through one of the two official channels to file a claim. >> and the office is open until 7:00 tonight and tomorrow from 8:00 in the morning until noon, sunday. >> there is the nevin community center, the center going to be open monday through friday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and saturday, 8:00 a.m. until noon.

good evening. diane is off tonight. we do begin this friday night with that headline from the heartland. the government tonight saying that this historic drought is now taking a bigger toll on american farms than we first thought. and that every american family could soon end up paying the price at the grocery store. how bad is it? this is a farm in nebraska, late last summer, the stalks a healthy green and reaching about eight feet high. that's where they should be this time of year. tonight, this is how a cornfield in that same town looks today. everything burned from the sun and withered. so, tonight here, we're going to go back onto the farm to hear the faces of this drought. here's ginger zee leading us off tonight. >> reporter: a staggering one-sixth of the u.s. corn crop has been lost in just the last month. and the ultimate cost to the u.s. economy could run as high as $80 billion. farmers like john kefner of manhattan, illinois, whose plight "world news" is following, has been sounding the alarm for weeks. >> this is what a healthy ear of corn looks like.
