it is happening in suburban phoenix, arizona where a man was shot at the cardinals rf raiders pre-season game. it happened during a fight in the parking lot. the suspect is in custody. >> we know the victim was shot in the head. his wounds are life-threatening. no word on what triggered the fight that lead to this shooting. we will have more as this story develops. good evening. i'm carolyn johnson. >> i'm dan ashley. in the meantime, a violent, high-risk sex offender is on the loose. derrick sanders escaped from the facility in redwood city, and he is still out there. ama dates is live at the san mateo county sheriff's office. ama?

>> authorities are not quite sure when sanders escaped, but once out of the facility it is easy to go unnoticed because the facility is in a heavily wooded area. derrick sanders is a wanted man after escaping from the health facility in redwood city. >> he left last night or early this morning through an elevator shaft. >> the staff noticed he was missing during early morning rounds. the sheriff's office is concerned because sanders is a high risk sex offender. >> he is a parolee. he has violence in his history. he has prior sex offense. he also has sex offense with minors. >> he was placed by parole officers. it is aing lod facility, but it is a treatment center. the company that provides the care describes it as a rehabilitation center. there is a way of leaving without going to the elevator

probably walking away from this area. >> and sanders sanders is 5 foot 11 and 165 pounds. take another good look. he was last seen wearing a red polo shirt and blue genes of the and you should not approach this man. if you do see him or have any idea where he is call police right away. in redwood city, ama dates, abc7 news. >> thank you. >> the san jose police say a three-year-old gdrl drowned in a family swimming pool. police say the child fell into the pool. she was taken to regional medical center where sadly she was pronounced dead. police do not suspect foul play. it was apparently a tragic accident. >> developing news where a device used to make illegal mark particulars was blown up. the threat forced residents to shelter in place for nearly five hours. the bomb squad blew up the device after 7:30 tonight.

this afternoon a resident reported seeing what looked like a soda bottle wrapped in tape and gauze in a driveway. pleasant in a -- pleasant in a robot to check things out before deciding to detonate the device. >> muni took the step of condemning one of the paid advertisements on one of its buses. it started with a controversial ad in support of israel that included hot button words like jihad and savages. johnal stone is live with -- john alston has more. >> reaction can run high, and now they are playing out on the side of muni buses. today the transit agency got involved with its own counter ad. the diewlg ads appear -- the dualing ads appear side by side. they popped up reading, in any war between the civilized man and the savage, they can support the civilized man, support israel. defeat jihad. mu knee came back -- muni came back saying they condemn

statements that describe any group as savages. >> obviously we think the ads that are in place right now are repulsive, and they definitely cross the line. so there is not a lot we can do in light of the first amendment. >> the group behind the first pro israel ad is the american freedom defense initiative headed by pamela geller of new york who says she is planning another muni bus ad. >> those ads will be calling out the institutional liesed and systemic anti-seem terrorism of the government of -- anti-seem terrorism of the government of san francisco. they are picking sides and they should be running disclaimers on every ad and not just mine. >> the council on islamic relations welcomed the ads as a step in the right direction. >> a lot of the damage has been done. we have heard from many community members both at our organization and at a number of other organizations across the bay area. they is don't feel comfortable boarding the buses that carry these ads. joy the publicity has generated a few thousand dollars for her organization. >> we have seen an crease in

look -- are the most active looking for food. a cougar and her cubs were seen near the greek theater. the damaged area of richmond's chevron refinery won't be repaired anytime soon. the chemical safety board and cal-osha says they would like to preserve the accident site while their investigations continue. the damaged area remains too toxic and structurally unstable to enter. campbell police are urging caution for people looking to buy apple products off websites like ebay and craigs list. thieves broke into the campbells fries electronic -- fry's and made off with ipads, i pods and phones worth $160,000. look how they went through the store and filled up a shopping cart. here is the surveillance video. buyers shore leery of products sold on craigs list and ebay because that's where the items will most likely end up. >> the man who ended up with steve jobs' ipad says he had no idea he would have accepted stolen property from a friend. his home was burglarized last

a landscaper is accused of abandoning projects and leaving people heart broken. >> michael finney followed the trail of accusations and is here with his findings. >> we found out when a contest winner notified us. she said it was never awarded. we quickly found out there could possibly be other victims as well. some who paid the contractors thousands of dollars. >> i have never won anything in my life. >> this is a picture that she submitted to win an ugly back ready yeah contest. she won a $9,000 garden makeover for her san mateo home from wincoe landscapes. eleven months later and this is all that has been done to

her yard. her backyard remains as appealing as an abandoned lot on a neglected street. >> i am really angry. this was an advertising ploy, and that disuh points -- disappoints me. >> she didn't pay anything, but they have learned that other paying customers have seen their project stall out as well. >> i paid him 27,000, and this is what i have to show for so far. >> he says the work on the san jose home was scheduled to be completed in one month. five months later, and the materials are left scattered all over the yard. the sharp pointed end of screws are exposed, and their backdoor leads to an incomplete deck and a big drop. they say all of this poses a potential danger. so much so that the family was forced to can sell their young children -- cancel their young children's birthday party. the kids are disappointed.

>> the kids were like, mom, you promised me. why? i don't understand. >> the contractor's state license board is expressing serious concerns about wincoe. >> we have a number of complaints that have been filed against them. a few of them in the last couple weeks. there is concern on our part about his ability to continue with work at this point if he is not completing jobs. >> the company has been stripped of its license for letting its workers' compensation expire and for failing to pay a $3700 small claims judgment. wincoe has since paid the judgment and said it is in the process of renewing its workers comp insurance. a spokesman for the family-run business told us he takes full responsibility for the half completed work. quote, we should have gotten it done. i am not going to dispute that, close quote. he says as soon as he gets his license back, he will complete the work. some of his customers say they have heard these types of

in southern california authorities are scrambling to check on residents safety after severe flooding is believed to have trapped several people. heavy rains from thunderstorms caused flash flooding through parts of san bernadino county. this is forest falls near victorville. the local sheriff's department says evacuations were not ordered, but it did block access to many roads, as you can see in the area. >> that's incredible. and spencer was watching that rain and tracking it from the weather center. >> he is here with more on that. >> they had heavy rains in a short time there this afternoon. and the rains have tapered off of southern california, but the heavy rain that occurred in a beef prerd of time -- the brief period of time and are now receding. we have a time lapse from this high definition east bay camera and looking at the western sky. what a colorful sky it was. it was adding a little color and texture to the sunset. and now to live doppler 7hd. we have sprinkles in the bay area, folks. we have patches of light showers offshore. we have sprinkles down in the south bay and over the santa

cruz mountains and up into the north bay mountains as well. the producer called to report that it is sprinkling officially in pacifica. so a little bit of damp weather overnight. right now temperature readings 58 in san francisco and 60 across the bay in oakland. 70 in concord and 85 at this hour in antioch. pretty hot out there. scattered sprinkles or light showers will continue overnight. we will see areas of fog near the coast. it will be sunny and warmer on sunday and monday. and with the fog and the sprinkles and the midlevel clouds we will have mild conditions with the low temperatures in the midto upper 50s. we have been tracking this the last several days and it continues to lift northward and lift in our direction this stream of moisture which accounts for the sprinkles that have developed in the bay area right now. let's start the forecast animation at 11:00 this evening. and we will continue to see high clouds moving through the bay area and other parts of california as well. we won't get much except some

sprinkles in the overnight or early morning hours. over in dash dosh over in the see -- over in the sierra it will be widespread and intense. back to the bay area, tomorrow we expect cloudy skies in the morning and fog at the coast. and by afternoon we will see at least partly sunny conditions and the high temperatures will be a little below the average generally in the 80s inland. midup toker 80s. 69 in oakland and 72 san mateo. looking for 90s? you have to go to clear lake and ukiah where the highs will be in the low 90s. and a little to our south near monterey bay. tomorrow highs in the low 70s near the bay. mid80s inland. gilroy and morgan hill. here is the accu-weather seven-day forecast. after a cloudy start tomorrow and a cooler than average day this time of year, we will see a warm up on sunday and monday under sunny skies. the high temperatures will climb into the low 90s inland and the highs taper a few degrees, but it will be a sunny and pleasant and warm week. >> thank you, spencer. coming up next, a $75,000

good evening, everybody. the raiders play their second pre-season game in arizona. the new coach dennis alan and his offense continues to be a real problem. the raiders' first team defense looked good early on getting to kevin cob. down he goes in the end cash dash end zone. he is dragged down 7-5 cardinals at that point. the raiders were shut out by dallas. carson palmer, well that is a poorly thrown ball. palmer 13 of 24 and still no td's in the pre-season. mike good son fumbled twice. raiders with three turnovers and that lead to a touchdown pass. 17-8 arizona. a minute and a half later and punt blocked by justin bethel who scoops and scores. the cardinals lead by 16. the raiders fight back. the third quarter and miller powers in for the raiders' first td of the pre-season. still in the third and san jose state alum and the

nacho-nacho man. it is tied at 24. that's a walking touchdown. 31-27 cardinals. the raiders are 0 and 2 so far this pre-season. on to baseball. the giants have begun life after melky, and trying to figure out how to replace one of their best hitters. not a problem in san diego. they got a ton of runs. a strong contingent of giants fans making their way to san diego, as always. and scootero gone off olendorf. his 6th of the year. the giants' offense explodes for eight runs in the third. he drives in pagan, 3-0 and now 5-0. the pitch to the backstop and the route is on. matt cane contributing. r.b.i single. scoring brandon belt. thine-0 giants after three. giants cruise 10-1, and they move back into first place
