in the june primary. as the new school year begins california launching first new grade level in more than a century. more than 800 districts are expected to offer the first year of a two year kindergarten the transitional kindergarten is for children with birthdays in the fall who would be too young for regular kindergarten. the eligible age is moving up three months or for kindergarten is moving up three months to 5-years-old by september 1st, phasing in a month at a time over three years it will be offered in more than 2,000 classrooms. new this morning, just released field poll shows an increasing majority of california voters support president obama's health care reform act. the poll finds 54% of california voters support the law, 37% oppose compared to last year, only 52% of california voters supported the law. at that time 39% opposed.

crashed into the pit area hitting at least three people, two had to be taken to the hospital. no word on the extent of their injuries or why the driver lost control. a scary, scary accident. hollywood is mourning the death of well-known director tony scott this morning. scott directed top gun, spy game and man on fire. police say he died after jumping off a bridge in los angeles yesterday. investigators say they found a suicide note at his office. the 68-year-old scott was working on a film with his brother director ridley scott. in texas five more planes will spray a second coat of pest of pesticides. four planes took off yesterday to spray the area. heavy rain saturday helped flush out mosquito larvae. residents need to be vigilant removing standing water.

planned 7:30 tonight for a homeless murder victim the woman some called the screaming lady was killed by a man with a samurai sword last monday night she was usually seen sitting on the sidewalk on san carlo near meridian avenue where the vigil is planned tonight. authorities are still trying to identify the woman. police arrested 37-year-old marcus reynolds for the attack. in shasta firefighters are battling a 12,000 acre wildfire that has already destroyed seven homes and forced thousands to evacuate. we just checked the latest numbers this morning it is only 5% contained. the ponderosa fire broke out following a lightning storm early saturday morning. mike talked about the possibility of that happening. it has been growing ever since, consuming 19 miles of rural forest land. two other communities are in the line of fire about 3,000 homes evacuated and shasta
