good morning. thanks for joining us, i'm kristen sze. i'm eric thomas. a train has derailed near baltimore killing two. the two people were on the tracks not railroad workers. their identities have not been released. one is a woman in her 20s. 21 cars of the 80 car train flipped around midnight. the accident spilled tons of coal crushing cars in a nearby parking lot. the stage is set in san francisco for warm-up races in the biggest sailing event in the world.

in a few hours we'll see the official kickoff of the america's cup world series. katie marzullo is live at pier 32 with a preview. >> reporter: good morning. you can barely make out the sails in the dark, but they are gorgeous and standing tall behind us the america's cup world series the action getting underway in a couple of hours. mayor lee will speak at the viewing area at 10:00. then practice rounds get underway. sky 7 hd captured earlier practice in the bay over the weekend. there are 11 teams from eight countries competing. official racing in the world series begins tomorrow. if the is any indication it is going to be a very popular event. >> world series already in season one, 1.3 million spectators on the shoreline. we are expecting good numbers here in san francisco. it is their chance to see the

road. this took the life of a 24-year-old man who died at a local hospital. less than an hour later, police were called to the corner of north jackson about two miles away they found a 20-year-old man shot there to survive. police say the homicide appears to be gang-related and they are not sure whether there's a connection between the two incidents. six people murdered in san jose in the past seven days. federal investigators keeping an eye on chevron's refinery as hydrocarbons continue to leak following that fire. water still sprayed on the leaking pipe to keep from it catching fire again. the chemical safety board and cal-osha won't be able to examine the pipe and the insulation until it is capped. >> the priority now is isolate that leak cut off the flow of hydrocarbons and move forward

with the investigation. >> investigators revealed photos showing a white have a for cloud released before the fire ignited sending up a column of black smoke. they were taken by a photographer from across the bay in san francisco investigators trying to determine the chemical composition of that cloud which escaped as workers pulled the insulation away. 11,000 people went to hospitals and clinics to get treatment. fire crews are making progress with that massive wildfire threatening three towns. the ponderosa fire 30% contained and more than 16,000 acres more than 3,000 residents evacuated since lightning sparked that fire saturday. seven hopes destroyed. some property owners are just now learning what they've lost. we've lost about 700 acres of timber. >> six generations. to see it go like this it hurts. >> one of the air tankers at the ponderosa fire was sent

from the santa rosa calfire base. crews that battled last week's fires were sent to the ponderosa fire without a break. santa clara city council today expected to approve a seven million dollar a year concession agreement for the new 49er stadium. the contract is with the company that operates concession stands at candlestick and at&t park. they will be hiring 1600 people. the stadium is expected to open in 2014. >> the petaluma national little league team is still in the running. yesterday they pulled out a walk-off win in extra innings. espn highlights. in the bottom of the 8th danny was just looking to make contact and hits the game winning homer to beat new jersey 5-4. hometown tpwafpbsing went wild.

atherton avenue going to block a lane for sometime at least a half hour that's what a "sig alert" means, count on three hours. right now traffic is light, moving at 64 miles an hour no delays southbound. heading through the area you want to consider alternates especially later when things get crowded. you may want to consider highway 37 to lakeville highway and that will get you back on to 101 later on. with we'll be monitoring the drive times as well, right now no delays northbound on 101 from highway 37 to highway 12, 28 minutes, same for the southbound direction. but, a car did crash into a pole so it will be something drivers will look at even in the southbound direction that's why we are tracking delays there. elsewhere, quiet here's a live shot of the bay bridge toll things are light right now into san francisco

clear today. what does that mean? we will have more on that coming up. new this morning, a bill requiring overtime pay for california farm workers is on its way to the governor's does he can. a bill requested by the farm workers union supported on the senate floor yesterday the bill would pay overtime to workers on-the-job more than eight hours a day or 40 hours a week. right now they are only required to be paid overtime after a 10 hour day or 60 hour week. republicans argue the measure would hurt farm workers by forcing growers to cut shifts to make ends meet. in a show of thanks the plaza at the renovated cal

memorial stadium will be named for lisa and douglas goldman of san francisco. they donated a million dollars to help save the university's baseball program last year. the stadium project includes new seating, concession stands and other amenities. bears reopen the stadium on september 1st. san francisco and bmw are trying to make parking in the city less challenging the two are pushing new app aimed at helping drivers find and reserve open parking spaces it is called park now. drivers can reserve a space online or mobile phone and present a code at the garage to claim their space. bmw also unveiling a new car sharing program. >> having less vehicles and car sharing is part of that and parking solutions all a neat package coming from 100% private industry. >> the drive now program will

everybody else in the mid to upper 50s monterey bay and inland cloudy, mist hanging around your neighborhoods, low to mid 50s. today because of the sea breeze, look how deep the clouds penetrate during the morning hours you can see drizzle along the coast until 10:00, even by noon, a lot of fog around the bay especially around the golden gate and heading across san francisco towards berkeley and oakland and alameda. as we head into the afternoon, that will pull back, i still think we'll have a little fog across the golden gate, sea breeze kicks in 50s at the coast today, 60s, 70s, 80s the rest of us, 90s removed from the forecast for quite sometime. south bay mid to upper 70s. upper 60s to mid 70s peninsula. low to mid 60s san francisco up to sausalito, upper 70s to near 80 north bay valleys.
