the mild winter weather. >> likely more mosquitoes than usual survive the winter. and it's those that kind of emerge that seem to start the cycle up, every year. it started early. this year. >> most people who are infected suffer flu like symptoms but others can be deadly. in 2006, two people in the county died from the disease. when high levels of mosquitoes are detected an insecticide is sprayed. >> it's toxic to mosquitoes because they're tiny. to a tiny dose will kill a mosquito but it's way to little to cause harm to people or birds or other animals. >> mosquitoes breed in small amounts of water. so pemplts say preventing that will go a long way in attacking west nile virus. >> swimming pools that are neglected are a huge issue for us. one neglected swimming pool can produce a million mosquitoes and affect people up to five miles away.
