>> announcer: abc7 news begins with breaking news. >> that breaking news is in san francisco where police are taking no chances with a vice found in a tenderloin apartment building. terry there have been evacuations? >> reporter: there have been 75 people evacuated from a hotel after a device was found in the basement of that building. that bidding is one block from where i'm standing. -- 605 jones street at geary. the building with 75 people inside, someone reported to police about 2:30 this morning that there was something in the basement, it looked suspicious police not divulging what it looks like. people were evacuated and people are not being allowed to return to their apartments in at joining area.

police sweeps to disrupt gang activity. we'll have more from amy hollyfield at the top of the hour. later this morning, police in hayward are expected to release details on a fatal shooting that happened inside a jewelry store. a 911 call in the afternoon from someone inside the store the caller dialed 911 but didn't say anything officers found a 53-year-old hispanic male shot to death. police would not give details. the store buys and sells gold. teenaged driver accused of killing a father and daughter riding their bikes last spring in concord is scheduled to face vehicular manslaughter charges in court this morning. the victim's family say they are angry with the decision that the driver will be charged as a juvenile. david rosen was driving an suv

that veered out of control. he hit the man and his two daughters. the 12-year-old suffered minor injuries. this morning in vacaville, crews remain on the scene of a five acre brushfire to make sure there were no flare-ups. sky 7 hd was over the fire last night. firefighters were able to get it contained last night. flames and smoke could be seen from i-80, no homes threatened. investigators trying to figure out what sparked that fire. lance armstrong says he's giving up the fight against doping charges. in turn, the u.s. anti-doping agency says it will strip him of his seven tour de france titles and ban him from cycling forever. armstrong maintains he's innocent but says he's tired of the allegations and enough is enough. he calls the investigation an

serve only 21 years for that crime, max. a judge declared anders breivik sane this morning and handed down an immediate sentence he will be held for a minimum of 10 years, norway has no death sentence. breivik went on a murder spree in july of 2011 at a summer camp. he says he did it as part of a political protest. breivik was seen smiling and smirking during sentencing. fbi investigating a threat made against missouri congressman todd akin. he made headlines when he said women's bodies have a way of pregnancies in the case of what he called legitimate rape. he has apologized. inning -- he is continuing to run for senate. the fbi won't say what kind of threat agents are investigating. the potential threat of tropical storm isaac causing
