identical. and now a jury decides samsung has essentially copied apple's ipad and iphone and awards cupertino company a billion dollars. >> good evening. i'm carolyn johnson. >> and i'm dan ashley. apple is demanding that samsung pull those products from the market. thomas roman is here with a look at the decision and the consequences. >> that's right. it has been a year of litigation between apple and samsung.s win takes today's win takes care of samsung's infringement. the verdict does not mean that apple is finished with samsung. >> this is a 7.9 tablet. this is an ipad. if you can see a startling resemblance, so did the jury in the case apple brought against samsung. apple won on almost all counts. he was in the courtroom all week. >> they came out on top in a way that could impact future

products. and it nets them a large sum of money that comes out of samsung's pockets. >> reporter: apple asked for $2.4 billion in damages saying his reputation was hurt. its ipad and iphones designs copied and the market of smart phones reduced. samsung's attorneys refused to answer reporter questions. >> i'm sorry i don't have any comments. no comments. >> we issued a statement. >> it took a jury three weeks of trial and just 21 hours of deliberations to decide in apple's favor. they say it is a real blow to samsung jie. they will have to go back to the drawing board and rethink how their devices work. >> samsung will have to change many of the present designs. this is a galaxys a.5. it is a look that is very different from ipad of the -- samsung is not the only one affected by the verdict. >> that's what they are competing against. >> the jury found samsung had willfully infringed on some,not.

700 block of sycamore street. the little boy was taken to children's hospital, oakland. doctors say he was grazed by a bullet. his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. there is no word on a motive to the shooting. this is the 77th homicide of the year of the it is exactly the same number as a year ago. tonight there is a new strategy to fight the cops. there is a rise in the attention of gang problems. there were eight killed in the last 11 days. abc7 news reporter ama dates is live where ama you road alone on the streets tonight. >> i did. i road with a sergeant, and he drove us around and showed us the different gang turfs, and we even went by the scene of the latest homicide. ingit is a friday night on the eastside of san jose. san jose police sergeant leads an eight-officer gang team.

volunteers ahead because of tropical storm isaac. it is bearing down on haiti where the aid workers were sounding the alarm and they were still packed with earthquake victims. it continues in tampa with the contingency plans in place. our political reporter mark matthews will be covering both party conventions. >> with any luck mark will be covering the convention and he could be covering a hurricane as well. >> we hope not. meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking that storm. >> absolutely, carolyn and dan. as we look at the atlantic he here, tropical storm isaac is very near landfall over haiti. the center of the eye is already starting to brush up toward the haiti area. it is packing maximum sustained winds of 70 miles an hour and track together northwest at 14 miles an hour. it has intensified a little bit. it is expected to lash out at haiti with the heavy rain and the winds. of course the storm surge and then it is going to work its way very close to and across

the cuba area. here is the projected path. ghettils.oking at these are different models showing the track of what will become a hurricane. the tropical storm as it crosses cuba, and then by sunday evening, we are talking about tropical storm isaac. it is possibly impacting southern florida as we continue to show you the computer model. it is a category 1 by monday evening. if you are traveling to the florida keys, or if you are heading to florida on business to watchou want to watch out. watch what it does. it actually takes it in up toward the gulf coast states it is still slow going. the biggest threat is heavy rains. and the storm surge, if it does impact florida.rse, of course, the computer model can really change what the actual forecast is. i want to show you our forecast. let's check out live doppler 7hd first. we have low clouds, fog, and it will be pretty widespread as we head into tomorrow morning. the marine layer has deepened.

it is around a 1800 feet. temperatures in the 50s. low to mid60s in our inland valleys. here are the highlights. cloudy overnight. could see spotty drizzle near the coast by morning. cooler pattern for the weekend with temperatures rebounding early next week. tomorrow morning i would bundle up if i were you. look at these cool readings. upper 40s to the mid50s. then as we hit the weekend, it may feel a little more like early october, believe it or not. that's thanks to this area of low pressure. the deep low will drive our temperatures down. cooler days for the weekend. below normal temperatures by a good 8 to 10 degrees. 64 in san francisco. 59 half moon bay. the fog will be sitting in those areas. 73 san 67 rosa. 67 in oakland. mild, sunny day, but not exactly summer-like heat. 83 in antioch. 81 livermore. fremont 73. san jose 75. and around the monterey bay, we are looking at temperatures that are quite comfortable in our inland areas.
