average and will continue that trend with numbers in the 50s this morning. the spread throughout the afternoon, a little more narrow. we're talking more 60s and 70s. midday hour we'll see upper 60s and 4:00, low to mid-80s around the tri-valley. cool and cloudy at the coast. low clouds, mist and drizzle in the overnight hours. it will be cool afternoon for the rest of the weekend? i'll let you know. >> breaking news out of walnut creek, where a downtown business has gone up in flames. take a look at the french restaurant that erupted in flames. fire crews arrived they could only take a defensive position from keep it from spreading. you can see from the video just into "abc 7 news," that fire was raging. so far no reports of juries. they called a second alarm but there no word how it started.

>> new this morning, chp is investigating a crash near the interchange in concord. highway 4 is clear now. this was the scene last nights. about 10:30 when two cars collided in the solano way off-ramp. one crashed in a light pole. a person died at the scene. caltrans is working to repair the light pole. in west oakland a double shooting has left a man dead and 7-year-old boy wounded. it happened about 8:00 last night in the 700 block of sycamore street. he was rushed to children's hospital. he was grazed by a bullet. his injuries are not considered life-threatening. no word on a motive for the shooting. it was the 77th homicide of the year for oakland. >> terry: san jose this morning, there is going to be a peace march in responsibility to that recent spike in gang killings. there have been eight killings in 12 days, many believed to be

gang-related. it starts at 8:00 on coyote road and goes to roosevelt park. ama daetz tells us the new department to deal with the plan. >> reporter: its any night on the east side of san jose. >> all the gangs are in a mission. >> they led a gang zbleem we had a big gang population. there are thousands of members. >> they patrol the streets. >> probably the worst i have ever seen, not as much the street level presence but more shootings more violence. >> reporter: and 18-year-old wearing red was shot to death in front of this liquor store. they had gathered around the memorial asking for donations. >> that is the bye out here. >> with the spike of homicides.

they see activation of a crisis response strategy that will include spending $800,000 to specifically target gang violence. >> message to the public is, you have every city resource and county resource going to stop it. >> reporter: the sergeant says the resources make a huge difference and overtime is a necessity. >> right now, pretty much 6 saturation for gangs out here. if we pull back the gangsters figure out what is going on, they will take advantage. >> with more officers his team can make more stops like this one. this mercedes matches the description of one used in crime. >> the sergeant dropped us off, there was a car chase, there was a small crash and then the eventually found the suspect hiding in the yard and recovered a gun. >> terry: boys from petaluma are

a few hours away from a chance at the world series title. what is it like for them to be in the center of so much attention. wayne freedman joins us live from pennsylvania. you talked with some of them a short time ago. >> reporter: just within the hour. yeah, they know what they are in for and they are know what they are up against and they know where they are. they seem generally unfazed. if you are 11 or 12-year-old, that is standard. this is home of little league baseball and for petaluma, this is a big night. here are highlights from the last game wednesday night. as the west as they are known, got a victory against texas. today they play in the national championship game, imagine that. against the southeast team at 12:30. the kids told us they know it's a big game. we spoke to a few of them.

in the east bay this morning police are training to find the owner of two dog that has mauled a 6-year-old girl in albany. the chile was attacked around 8:00 near a soccer field. soccer players rescued the girl, briefly detained the dogs owner but he left before police could get there. the little girl was treated at children's hospital. she was then released. >> this morning a walnut creek man is under arrest for indecent exposure at a school. they showed darrell allen committing a lewd acted at walnut creek christian academy. he is being held on $145,000 bail. >> coming up next, a billion dollar decision. apple wins big in a landmark ruling begins bitter rival samsung but samsung it isn't

apple wants samsung to pull its phones off the shelf. tomas ramon has more. >> this is a galaxy tablet. this is an ipad. a startling resemblance, so did the jury. apple won on almost all counts. josh was in the courtroom all week. >> they came out on top that could impact future products but net them a large sum of money that comes out of samsung's pockets. >> they originally asked for $2.5 billion. saying the reputation was hurt and market share of smart phone sales was reduced. samsung's attorneys refused to answer questions. >> i have no comments. we have issued a statement. >> it took a jury three weeks of trial to decide in apple's favor. its real blow to samsung. >> they are going to have to

rethink how some of the future devices work. >> samsung is going to have change present designs. this is galaxy 10.5, that is different from an ipad. samsung is not the only company affected by this verdict. >> this also goes to google and android because that is what they are competing against. >> the jury found had willfully infringed on apple's patents. apple wants the offending products off the market through a court ordered injunction. they will appeal the billion dollars in damage says legal analyst dean johnson. >> reporter: there is going to be an appeal. when you have a billion dollar jury verdict. there will be an appeal. >> on september 20th, both sides will be back in federal court to find out if a judge will award

apple an injunction forcing samsung to remove design products from the market. >> terry: shares of apple hit record high. after the verdict was announced. shares went up $12. now trading at just under $675 per. >> massive wildfire near redding is 70% contained. they have made significant progress. it has consumed 28,000 acres. it has destroyed 84 homes since it broke out last saturday. the bay area and silicon valley chapters of the red cross are sending 15 volunteers to florida ahead of tropical storm isaac. forecasters say it could reach hurricane strength tomorrow as it crosses florida and heads into the gulf 6 mexico. this morning with a

so we're looking at a pretty good day for that. low clouds and fog all the way into the east bay. in fact our high definition doppler shows that looking at some marine layer hugging the coast and in the inland valleys. in fact the delta is clear. so you'll notice here we've got clearing but gusty winds will be allowing for temperatures to come down 2-7 degrees. tropical atlantic where we have been watching tropical storm isaac with winds 60 miles an hour. continues to track to the north and west just like we've been looking the past couple of days. there are hurricane warnings up for the florida keys and west coast of florida. it's going to be cap one and thursday we'll be looking at storm surge and very heavy rain here. we'll keep an eye on that as our temperatures trend downward.

57 in san jose and 59 in antioch. 54 in oakland. we have the spotty drizzle and been a chilly morning with the cooler pattern just in time for the weekend. temperatures they will rebound by monday. we're talking some upper 80s. a little bit of everything but the area of low pressure continues to sag to the south. that is allowing for the cool marine air head our way. in fact the low clouds and fog, up to 2,000 feet this morning. as the low gets closer. it looks like it won't be quite as extensive tomorrow. the temperatures aren't going to go up too much but we will see a quicker burnoff for your sunday afternoon. overall we should be in the low 80s for san jose and santa rosa. just the 70s there today. we will be looking at partly sunny skies for the giants game in the 60s.

>> terry: new this morning, a tiny town in the east bay is celebrating 90 years of mail service just as postal leaders plan to eliminate the postmaster and reduce hours to save money. it takes place in the community of canyon. that is in wooded hills between moraga and oakland. it will be held on the post office located on pine hur south-southeast road. it has a picture of the building and speakers and presentations to promote the letter writing campaign hoping to avoid cuts. >> deep budget cuts that laid off firefighters several weeks in eastern contra costa county

we will look for midday clearing in most areas but spending time around the bay. it will be definitely on the breezy side. 54 in oakland, 58 in san carlos. despite airport delays, sunshine at sfo. 53 in napa. visibility is reduced up to two and a half miles in santa rosa. cooler than normal for this weekend. numbers as much as ten degrees below the average from santa rosa to san jose. the temperatures will be rebounding by early next week. we'll see numbers come up by 5-7 degrees away from the bay. high pressure is situated off the coast. an upper level to the north and getting a little bit closer. as it does. it allows for the marine layer to bring the cooler weather our way. those breezes to pick up if you are around the bay. we are looking at the windy conditions providing elevated fire danger in the sierra nevada with low relative humidity. we've got some dry air here in
