>> bloody. bloody. the grounds are like a war. a bad situation. >> alan: bracing for impact. tropical storm isaac is lashing the florida keys and tonight hurricane warnings are in place from new orleans the florida panhandle. i'm alan wang. >> ama: i'm ama daetz. we begin with developing news. tropical storm isaac is hitting the florida keys with rain and wind and as it gets closer, it gets stronger.

the path has it barreling towards louisiana and the conditions to keep from the florida pan theme new orleans. we're live from where the republican national convention is being held. >> with isaac threaten neglect gulf, republican national convention officials have been scrambling. there was talk of extending the convention but that is unlikely. >> isaac is churning the coastal waters off florida, and churning the political waters inland. residents are digging in as isaac approaches and republicans are scrambling to alter their national convention. isaac gave floridians reason to be nervous. driving winds and drenching rains left no doubt that worse is on the way. >> with the rnc coming in, people coming to town, kind of worried about that. that's a lot of people to try to move. >> along florida's west coast they're boarding up, stocking up.

>> basically flashlights and batteries because last time i didn't have any batteries orlight is. i have three boys and a dog and we need to see. >> and bat 'king down. >> it could be nothing or a lot. and if you don't take precautions and it's a lot, you're the trouble. >> isaac's misery wound through haiti where six died, and cuba, where the storm inflicted widespread property damage. isaac is tracking westward, expecting to become a hug after it crosses the florida keys and could be a category 2 storm. the change in path is good news for the republican convention. but it will be shorter as the specter of isaac purdue she g.o.p. to cram monday's agenda, cramming four days of cob veins business into three. >> tampa should be spared the worst of isaac's wrath but with up to a half foot of rain in the forecast, city and convention

officials concerned about the risk of flooding. am apple let's -- >> ama: let's get the latest from leigh. >> leigh: the national hurricane center just updated the coordinates. you can see the feeder bands, the rain bands starting to lash in to central and southern portions of florida, miami getting hit pretty hard. they've been doing so all day long. taking in a little closer, you can get a pretty good sense of heavy squalls wrapping back around. some tornadic activity in the thunderstorms. here's the latest coordinates. i just updated this for you. this tropical storm isaac positioned 60 miles southwest of key west, florida, winds have increased slightly to 65 miles-per-hour, and once again, it's continuing to pull into the gulf of mexico. the movement northwesterly at 15 miles-per-hour. now, let's check out the latest path. still tropical storm up towards

8:00 tomorrow night, still centered to the west of tampa. there's a lot of concern there by 5:00 p.m. tuesday, turns into a category 1 hurricane and it's heading for landfall near new orleans by thursday morning as a cass gore 2. strong system. we will watch it for you. >> ama: as karen traverse mentioned, the storm has forced republican party to cancel several events, including a bunch planned tomorrow will former secretary of stayed condoleezza rice. but the convention expects to be in full swing tuesday and we'll bring you complete coverage. abc-7 news political reporter will have live reports from tampa beginning tomorrow. >> alan: in other news, the little league all-stars from petaluma won their consolation game today for a third place finish the little league world series. wayne freedman is live in williamsport, pennsylvania, where the team has given the bay area a lot of cheer about.

reporter: it's always nice to win your last game of the season. the games pets human ma won this morning wasn't the game they wanted to win. the game for third place in the world but they got it, 12-4, which means they're the third best little league team in the world. here's the parents after the game with hugs and applause and congratulations and relief that their extended 30-game all-star season is finely over. petaluma finishes 26-4. after the game we caught up with bradley smith and coach asia smith. not related. let's not do sound bites. let's let them talk. here's bradley first. >> what happens now? >> i don't know. go home and have a good time. >> everybody knows your name back home now. >> oh, yeah. >> you're famous. >> yeah. >> what do you take away from the whole week? >> um, pride. i'm really proud of the boys.

they've given everything they have. i just feel very fortunate to be part of what they have done. >> you're a teacher by profession. >> yes. >> you've been teaching this whole time, haven't you? >> yeah. i guess so. i mean, it sort of comes naturally. i thought about it out there. i'm always trying to get michigan to make them better. >> take away a lesson this time? >> um, you know, for the boys, keep working hard. reach for your dreams, and all of that stuff that you want kids to grow up doing, and you won't have to wake up 13 kids for a while. >> right. i think that will make me happy and them happy, too. >> it was coach eric smith, who is a junior high school math teacher in petaluma, california, and based on the way he deals with those young men, leader. the job of waking up the kids

now goes to the parents as they get hem. petaluma leaves tonight. they have an overnight flight and back home. more details on that as we get into it. but here in pennsylvania, they had a big rainstorm. it ended just after the game. came down in droves. the teams are on their way home and getting ready for another season and already talking about winter ball. >> ama: now let's go to sergio quintana, who is live in petaluma, where people are gearing up for a big celebration for when those boys come home. reporter: yeah. and through at the stretch of te world series there's been two theaters here that have been packed full of cheering fans. this morning, a little more subdued. a couple dozen people but they're expecting droves to welcome this championship team back home. >> hometown fans cheered the petaluma nationals' win over panama. wrapping up this spectacular run in the little league world series. >> i can't remember, a 12-year-old after a game like yesterday, ten runs in the bottom of the sixth. and to come back today, they used a lot of energy. [cheers and applause] >> up believable. >> the phenomenal comeback yesterday is sure to become legendary. it proved to be about as spectacular as if the boys actually won. >> it was unbelievable. i seen grown men cry yesterday after that comeback. >> though they placed third overall, the petaluma players will return home to a proud city. >> they lan at san francisco airport at 11:20. we're picking them up in style and have a motorcade bringing them back to petaluma. >> after the police escort into town the players will be honored at a celebration at the local fairgroundses and then honored next sunday with a parade.
