>> alan: good evening. i'm alan wang. oakland police are investigating a number of shootings that left one person dead and three others injured. a man died last night just a block from children's hospital. the contra costa time reports the victim is 29-year-old lorenzo ward. no arrests have been made. this is oakland's 85th 85th homicide this year. three other people were injured in separate shootings and they're expected to recover. >> the chp is investigating a crash on highway 101 in san

francisco that sent a car airborne over the railing and on to the street below. it happened at 7:30 this morning at the 101 enterenter state 80 split. a van collide with a car, sending the van flying off the freeway and on to vermont street. you can see the serious damage caused by the impact. the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital. san jose firefighters held a vigil about an hour ago for one of their own who is fighting for his life. firefighter frank ryan suffered a heart attack on thursday while battling a fire at st. patrick church. ryan served in the san jose fire department for 15 years. ♪ >> alan: dozens of ryan's fellow firefighters, police officers, friends, families and members of the community prayed for him a short time ago outside the medical center. many of this same first

responders worked to revive ryan after he collapsed on thursday. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire that damaged st. patrick's church. it happened during a stop in vallejo this morning police confronted two men in front of a home. that's where abc-7 news reporter sirow quinn tan that has the detail in an officer-involved shooting. he is live in the neighborhood. reporter: one of those people is dead. one of those young men is dead. the second person was shot by either a bullet or schapp nell. v-shrapnel. a wise car -- white car with more than a dozen bullet holes in the wished is what is left after a early morning shooting involving two vallejo police officers. >> i heard a girl saying, don't shoot. >> she heard the volley of gunfire from inside her house.

police say the officers pulled up on the vehicle with their spotlights on and noticed the driver get out of the car with what they thought was a gun in his waist band. >> the driver ducked and turns away from them behind the driver's door. and then continue the turning movement, facing them with now the gun in his hand. >> according to vallejo police, this is a neighborhood that has seen lots of gang activity recently so the officers initially drove up to the car sew why it was parked there they fired several rounds, then began shouting at the driver. investigators say he showed his hand, then ducked into the front seed -- seat of the vehicle. at that time one of the officers jumped on to the hood of the white car. >> approached the vehicle, jumped on the hood to get a better view of what was happening on the interior of the car. during the second volley. >> police say the suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital. he did not fire at officers. they found what the described as an air soft rubber pel pellet

gun in the car, along with 40 tabs of ecstasy. friendses and family say the victim is 23-year-old mario romero. police say this all unfolded within seconds and they're now investigating their seventh officer-involved shooting since may. >> any kind of exchange before anything happened? nye kind of dialogue between the officers and the suspect? >> none. >> how many rounds were fired? >> excess of 30. >> and of those seven, officer-involved shootings, since may, five have been fatal. reporting live in vallejo, i'm sergio quinn tan fashion abc-7 news. >> alan: a monument dedicated to the victims and survivors of the 1991 oakland hills fire storm has been vandalized again. vandals damaged the sculpture located in a garden at the entrance of hiller highlands on tunnel road. an area where more than 3,000 homes wereét+et"-people died. the chair of the oakland landscape committee says the vandals sawed off five branches

>> alan: terrifying moments caught on video by a fan at this monitor struck show in oregon. three spectators were hurt after one of the trucks plowed into the stands. organizers say the truck's hydraulic steering went out. the driver lost control and bounced through a mud pit and over a barricade. tree people suffered minor injuries after being hit by the tire is. organizers say they took a number of additional precautions and the show continued today. the dumbarton bridge is closed today but caltrans says it's on schedule to re-open tuesday morning's community commute. as you can see, welding work has begun as crews replace the expansion joints to the state-of-the-art seismic joint. the bridge was closed to all traffic on friday night at 10:00 p.m. but it's scheduled to re-open by 5:00 a.m. on tuesday. a dog with a nose for mussels is working this holiday

overnight tonight, but don't look for it to be as widespread as the past several morning. warmed up nicely. not as much sea breeze today so managed 90s inland. fairfield, 92. antioch, 90. livermore, 91. 73 in oakland right now. 5 in san francisco. compare these numbers well over 24 hours ago and you'll notice, yeah, much warmer, at 13 degrees in antioch just in the last 4 hours. up 14 in concord, and redwood city, up 13-degree from yesterday as the higher pressure builds in. we'll look for some very pesky clouds near the coast overnight. highlights indicate a little warmer conditions for labor day, monday, and then after that, get ready for a cooling trend that will take us in through the middle part of the work week, lows tonight in the 50s and you'll notice our forecast model, wanting to keep most of
