little repeat of yesterday as everybody heads back to work and school. >> maybe a little turn in the weather. thanks for joining us i'm eric thomas. and i'm kristen sze developing news alameda county. deputies on the scene investigating a deadly drive-by shooting last night. a 20-year-old from hayward was found dead at the scene. no word on victim's identity. following breaking news in the north bay. haz-mat team on the scene at a cotati pool service business to deal with a chemical spill. video just in. west of highway 101 alarm at north bay pool service sounded after 1:30 this morning. police arrived and call the fire department. fire officials tell us they've had trouble contacting the

owner. we'll have a reporter live on that scene shortly. break the law and break the bank. drivers who get busted in one city could be facing staggering fines. amy hollyfield is live in berkeley with more. >> reporter: certainly temptation to use a handicap placard if it is not yours it can be tough to find parking. police are going to give you a reason to be honest. starting today a crackdown on handicap placard abuse if you have a pass police will ask to see your identification and proof the pass was issued to you. after witnessing abuse of these tags many are happy to hear about this. >> i've known people who have had placards and taken

advantage. i think it is terrific they are cracking down. >> reporter: the police department's parking enforcement officers now have the authority to ask people about the handicap passes in the past only police officers could do it. now they are going to have extra officers focused on this area. they hope this will open up spots for people who legitimately need the handicap spots. that ticket is going to cost about $1,000. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 4:33. san francisco school that was flooded by a water main break one week ago will resume classes this morning. our lady of the visitacion school brought in a company that specializes in water cleanup. the school is safe to reopen. the news not so good for the convent next door which suffered most of the damage that could stay closed for weeks.

the water main is part of a city upgrade project completed eight months ago. if you take the dumbarton bridge it is open. the reopening happened ahead of schedule. the span shutdown over the weekend for seismic rest tremendous fitting. crews got the work done early traffic started flowing last night before 7:30. caltrans replaced a joint to make it more flexible for a cake. joint replaced on the westside over the memorial day weekend. democrats kickoff their convention in charlotte, north carolina today the party will adopt a platform that includes calling for higher taxes on wealthier americans along with backing same-sex marriage and abortion rights. the first lady will address the convention during primetime tonight. the california delegate -- delegations led by nancy pelosi and john burton

good morning. you're looking live in our rooftop camera toward san francisco low clouds there mike is going to tell us more. sue is tracking your traffic. both coming up in a couple of minutes. concerns over sometimes deadly hantavirus kept many away from yosemite this weekend. operators say there was a 20% cancellation rate for lodging in the park it is typically sold out labor day weekend. most cancellations were for curry village where officials say up to 10,000 could have been exposed to the rodent-born virus this summer. six cases have been -- have been links to that area. two people have died. marijuana farms are threatening the purity of the reservoir that supplies san francisco and san mateo counties with drinking water. authorities say they recently pulled 7,000 pounds of trash from the hills around the

crystal springs investigation -- res most came from illegal pot grows and included car batteries and banned chemicals. runoff from the trash could pollute the pristine reservoir testing hasn't turned up ed water so far. the narcotics task force says in the past five years it has seized 170 million dollars worth of pot from reservoir grows. you know driving around the bay area can be slow. money magazine is out with a new survey showing how hard it can be. the survey is part of the report detailing the best and worst places to live. three bay area cities in on the top 25 five list of slowest. antioch the third longest commute nationally, 36 minutes. pittsburg number 14, 31 minutes to get to work. if you are driving from novato it take as average of over half an hour.

duncan was 54 years old. positive news about a san jose firefighter who had a heart attack battling a church fire. frank ryan has begun to move recovering in intensive care he's not speaking yet but they are taking it within date a time. many of his co-workers have been by his side since he collapsed last thursday. firefighters have raised money so his brothers and sisters could be with him. golden gate park reporting more coyote sightings. signs have been put up along john f. kennedy dive and chain of la lake -- drive and chain of lakes drive. visitors say they've seen them but don't feel threatened. >> as long as they leave people alone and people leave them alone, what's the
