i'm eric thomas. mike has date off lisa argen is here. good morning we are looking at low clouds and fog in the north bay otherwise pulled away from the coast we are starting out with a cool number along the shoreline. 46 half moon bay, low 50s throughout the morning hours. noontime will warm through the upper 50s, sunshine with numbers near 60 at the coast. around the bay more like mid 50s. by noontime, more sunshine, near 70. by the afternoon upper 70s 4:00, when you get your high, inland valleys, low to mid 50s now with mid and upper 70s noon, near 90 4:00, beautiful day today, is it going to last all weekend a.m. i'll let you know. couple areas problem westbound 580 accident clearied to the shoulder slow past the scene there. 20 minutes from the altamont to 680.

peninsula 101 northbound at university stall blocking left lane there, in san jose northbound 87 at taylor first reports of an accident don't show significant slowing past the scene there. here's a quick look at drive times if you are heading out at this hour. 6:02. developing news from vallejo, police in that city are investigating a murder that claimed the lives of two people. live picture from the scene you can still see police on the scene this morning. officers got a 911 call reporting gun shoot -- gunshots 59 last night officers found two people had been shot to death in a home. police say a 31-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were killed. a toddler was found inside the home. amy hollyfield is at the scene gathering more information. she will have a live report in our next half hour. more developing news, search on for the man who apparently abducted his own

children. police say he may be headed out of the country on a sailboat. terry mcsweeney joins us live from south san francisco. >> reporter: south san francisco police are looking for the man who barged into his estranged wife's house, grabbed the two children and took off on a stolen sailboat. he may be going to monterey or mexico, maybe even asia. look at the man that police and others are looking for this is 43-year-old christopher maffei, you see his two children, 3-year-old and 2-year-old, maffei is the father he and his wife are separated. look at video we have of the house where the children lived with their mother this is where maffei went tuesday, grabbed the children, their grandmother gave chase, it was a bit of a struggle, she was somewhat injured but he managed to get away. police believe he and the children are onboard a stolen sailboat we have a picture of that, this is unleashed out of

alameda. they are not sure where he's going but he did mention he was interested in going to monterey, maybe mexico, maybe even thailand, he used to live there the mother said she had a lot of trouble getting police to give her help. >> they took a report but said, well they wouldn't consider it parental abduction because he was seeing the kids and they felt he had parental rights. out of everything that was the most frustrating. >> reporter: maffei had seen the children monday. the mother says she was in the process of getting a restraining order against maffei -- wednesday about 6 p.m. -- >> our apologies about the sound problems with terry's story. hear him say the police and coast guard are involved in

the search. this morning a memorial continues to grow in honor of a fallen officer. 37-year-old kenyon youngstrom was critically wounded on i-680 tuesday taken off life support wednesday. he's an organ and tissue donor and doctors say the fallen officer has the potential to safe more than 50 lives. community members are leaving flowers cards and balloons at the office where he worked. for those who want to make a contribution to the officer's family, wells fargo bank confirmed you can visit any of their branches and ask that funds be contributed. we've received thousands of condolences for his family, friends and colleagues on our facebook page. go to facebook.com/abc7news. in less than an hour, president obama is expected to depart charlotte,

typically slow out of antioch at this hour. we have another report northbound 880 in san jose at taylor pardon me northbound 87 at taylor with an accident still blocking the left lane there. 6:32. we start with developing news we first brought you 4:30 this morning. two people are dead in vallejo after a late night shooting. amy hollyfield joins us live from atherton street in vallejo. >> reporter: man and woman killed inside their home. neighbors say they believe the woman was pregnant and they say there was a toddler in the house. you can see police are still here at the scene. still going over the case, trying to find any evidence that could lead them to the killers. they say it is unusual to have a double murder and these people were gunned down inside their home. neighbors say there was one other person in the home, a toddler. a man who lives on the block ran in and grabbed the child and got the child to safety.

the child is okay. that same man may have seen the killers. he says he saw two men. >> they fled on foot, two male blacks wearing black hooded sweatshirts. they fled in a southbound direction on atherton street. >> very, very surprised, i just moved here three months okay, i thought it was an okay neighborhood this is the second shooting in a week. i'm worried about my kids. i got a baby and a 5-year-old. >> reporter: that man lives two doors down from where the murders happened. we asked police about the victims, officers didn't want to say much they are still trying to reach out to all family members they did tell us a 28-year-old woman and 31-year-old man we asked if they are involve gangs, any drug activity, police paused and said they didn't want give out any information that could

identify them. it doesn't look like anyone forced tear way in and they can't tell if anything was stolen this happened 9:18 last night. they did have some grieving family members at the scene there was a man who kept screaming, they killed my sister and she was pregnant. and there was a woman here so distraught she fainted and had to be treated by paramedics. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. more developing news, ongoing search for a man who apparently abducted his own children in south san francisco taking them away in a stolen sail bet from alameda many police and u.s. coast guard are looking for 43-year-old christopher maffei who took off in a rental car tuesday afternoon with 3-year-old and 2-year-old. the father shares custody with the mother they were taken from their home on james court tuesday afternoon police say he took the children who

that's an interesting one. let's talk jobs first. weaker than expected for august unemployment rate declined to 8.5% so many fewer americans said -- to 8.1%, so many fewer americans said they were out looking for work. some industries reluctant to expand because of economic as well as political uncertainy. monster.com saying online employment ads more than 6% last month, is one of the cities where online help wanteds increased. you think with the weak jobs report we would be much lower a lot of what we are seeing in terms of holding steady is because investors banking on the fed to add more stimulus weakness in the bloomberg index big part of that has to do with santa clara based intel indicating the future is not going to be as rosey as thought, slash third quarter sales forecast citing weak
