valleys top out around 90 to 95°. record heat is over, 8 to 19° drop today this is just the beginning. good morning. live shot of the golden gate bridge, traffic down to one lane northbound due to roadwork, crews there headed towards the northbound direction, southbound two lanes off the waldo, fog-free, you will find roadwork that's what we are looking at now. san mateo bridge eastbound from foster city boulevard towards the flat section roadwork, no slowing. marin county southbound roadwork has lucky drive off-ramp closed until 6:00. berkeley firefighters investigating the cause of overnight fire they battled at a duplex. amy hollyfield is live with the latest.

>> reporter: good morning this is a huge fire. police officers had to run inside the burning building and save a woman who was in a wheelchair and couldn't get out there were a total of five people inside this building. the firefighters are describing it as a duplex. the red cross is taking care of five people everyone did get out okay. firefighters got the call 12:15 this morning h this is off of ashby berkeley. they had heavy fire out of the back of the building. two story building, deep lot, they were worried about it spreading. part of the building did collapse they had to take a defensive stance. their first concern was rescuing the wheelchair-bound woman. >> the police officers who removed her, reported that the heat and smoke were just above their heads. they entered into an atmosphere which would be

challenging. >> heroes. >> in my mind they are heroes. >> reporter: firefighters evacuated some of the neighbors, just in case. they were able to keep from it spreading. right now they are working on hot spots. they have the fire under control, but they are looking for trouble areas. they say it is still flaring up inside that enormous building. they are waiting for daylight that's when the inspector will tell them if it is safe to enter and they can start trying to figure out the cause. section of ashby avenue shutdown from college, because they have so many fire trucks in the area. they recognize ashby is a busy thoroughfare. they will do their best to clear trucks out before the morning commute. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 4:33. highway 4 is open again

through antioch after a crash and gasoline leak forced closure of westbound lanes. white suv collided with a car in the construction zone, last night. within driver was taken to the hospital. suv was leaking gas, chp shutdown westbound lanes for safety. crews had to use extra caution to avoid igniting the gasoline. traffic diverted while lanes were washed down. all lanes reopened just after midnight. watch out for vandals throwing stuff at you on one stretch of highway 4 it happened twice last week near the g street overpass, two people were injured after their windows shattered. monday night something hit an bans, no one was hurt, there was significant damage. police are not saying what the vandals are throwing. -- the family of a man shot by police in may have some of the they've been asking for but not all. this morning their attorney is

reviewing a 300 page police report on the fatal shooting of 18-year-old alan blueford. they had to make a lot of noise to get it. last night they led a raucous crowd into city hall to demand answers at a city council meeting. police were brought in, half got locked out. blueford's mother wanted a copy of the police report from the may 6th, incident which she says she has asked for repeatedly. police have claimed the high school senior had a gun when he was shot by an officer who wanted to question him. councilman reed threatened to have the group removed for being disruptive but gave them his copy of the police report. their attorney says all that noise paid off. >> i wouldn't have them as quickly as i have them now, mainly because they -- the district attorney hadn't

completed their investigation. i think the process was helpful. >> of the names and details in the police report have been blacked out. in southern california orange county prosecutors decided against filing criminal charges against an anaheim police officer who shot and killed a 23-year-old that preceded two other officer involved shooting this summer that sparked days of protests. last year prosecutors say the officer feared for his life when he shot and killed a known gang member. the officer says he was reaching toward his waistband. the suspect did not have a firearm. tonight is the night. the presidential candidates are preparing to take the stage in denver. 50 million viewers are expected to tune in. brandi hitt is live in denver with a preview. >> reporter: good morning. the countdown is underway to the biggest showdown we've seen in the race for

the problem was not enough room to build the new road in the footprint of the old. engineers solved that problem and lopped nine months off the original schedule. >> we are always looking for ways to improve the job to get it open faster. our engineers took a risk, designed this whole project and put in contract out and now we are moving forward quickly. >> reporter: the tricky oakland touchdown is where a lot of work is going on right now. foundations of the old westbound bridge has been knocked down. the water rises and falls with the tide what is now a kind of pool will be filled in with concrete. >> what we were able to do is using something called lightweight concrete that is buoyant it can rise and fall over the years with the changes in the level of the water. >> reporter: the plywood forms of the deck are going up fast. getting ready for concrete to be poured in the next couple
