>> the game starts at 5:15 and people are still making their way toward the ballpark. anticipation and excitement is at a fever pitch. fans cannot wait for game one to start. even though the giants play well on the road, the fans are happy they home runfield advantage. the first two plays will be played here at at&t park and if necessary games six and seven will be played here as well. it's been two years since the giants made tote the nlcs. last year they decide notice make the playoffs. san days hoping for the same magic from 2010 when they won the world series. >> i have a lot of friends in other cities and towns and other states, yankees fans, rangers fans, et cetera. so it's nice to see them prove they're back here again and it wasn't just a one-time deal. >> it's huge. you got 2010 world champs versus the 2011 world champs to be the

2012 world champs. so it's big. >> it's scary when you're facing a team with a lot of heart like the giants. so i think they're ready to battle. they're ready to come in here and it's going to be hard to stop them. >> the nice thing about this year's postseason is that the fans seem to be more relaxed. able to enjoy the experience without being so stressed out as they were in 2010. when everyone was eager to see the giants win their first world series in over 50 series. but make no mistake, fans want their team to go all the way like they did two years ago. >> the fans can afford to be excited, but the players have to stay focused. at least that's their job. for a veteran it's easier than the newer to -- newcomers to the playoffs. rick quan joins us live with a preview of the best of seven series. rick? reporter: this should be a great

series. a pair of teams that refuse to lose. at friday, st. louis trailed washington 6-0. they were down to their final strike twice but still managed to win. david disalvo who went to uc davis, tied the game at 7-7 in the nine william with the two-run single. the rookie pete put the cardinals on top with a two-rung single. st. louse scored four in the ninth to advance to the nlcs. the largest come back in a winner take all postseason game. >> both club s had their bath to the wall, we did going into cincinnati, had to win three straight. they found a way to get it done. so that's a lot about the two clubs, the character, and how hard they fight and should be a hard-fought series here. >> i think what we did proved to a lot of people it's not over until it's over. pretty much everybody counted us

out. >> they also say there are often loud alcohol-fueled parties in the complex, something they're used to because of the student residents. >> it's easy for people. a lot of times there's roommates that are underage and roommates that are overage, and they buy the roommates beer if they want it. >> the police are not focusing on alcohol use by a minor. >> the biggest concern was there was not any foul play involved. he wasn't pushed or coerced or anything like that, that took place prior to this happening. >> talked with the managers at the apartment complex. it's a private housing property that specializes in university student but it is not affiliated with the local universities. they say they don't condone underage drinking and they have a guard patrols 245 hours a day and the guard does shut down noisy parties. >> the battle between the san jose police officers union and some city officials is getting more and more personal. today union and city officials

gathered to strongly condemn city council woman rose ha rare a. they say in a mailer, she blamed slow response time on the police force. they point out the police force is very understaffed. >> it's happening in my neighborhood and neighborhoods throughout the city. more break-ins. we're not responding to burglaries and that is not the fault of anyone that wears the unform. that's the fault of city hall. >> what the mayor addressed is the police union, not all san jose police officers. talking about the police union and their tactics. >> herrera is in a tough re-election fight. she is in favor of police pension reform. >> residents of an apartment complex on webster street in san francisco were forced out when s.a.t. officers arrived looking for a gunmann. police say it began with an exchange of gufers between a man on a sidewalk and people in a passing car. the man barricade himself in a nearby apartment complex and ended in a standoff that lasted four hours.

so that caused some flight delays and will reform tonight. so you have a little heads up on that for tomorrow morning. high clouds, a warmer day for monday, and after that, folks, all bets are off. get ready for a miniheat wave tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. here's a look at our fog forecast. overnight tonight, all of the low clouds will move back inland, and within this, the high pressure is pushing down on the surface, so some of the fog will develop close to the surface. this is 5:00 a.m., and then as we work through the afternoon hours, most of that fog will move on out. continue to see a few high clouds and the reason why is you can clearly see cold front to the north of us. the rain from this system will stay to the north of us, but some of these straggly cloud right here will drift by the bay area tomorrow. so i'm going with high clouds, warmer day tomorrow. filtered sunshine but the high pressure will build and tuesday
