romney. >> governor romney doesn't have a five-point plan. he has a one-point plan. that's to make sure the folks at the top play by a different set of rules. >> when he >> when he tried to answer back the moderator pushed back. >> governor romney, there will be plenty of chances to go on. we i -- >> i will -- >> when romney talked about lowering tax rates. >> when you bring the rates down, those small businesses are able to keep more money and hire more people. >> the president went after him again. >> you wouldn't have taken such a sketchy deal and neither should the american people. the math doesn't add up. >> where president obama stumbled was the question about the attack in benghazi. >> who denied the enhanced security and why? >> he never did answer that question. instead he attacked romney. >> while we were still dealing with our diplomats being threaten ited, governor romney put out a press released

trying to make political points. >> they brought up the discrepancies. >> this was clear that this was not a demmon vagues. this was an attack by terrorists. >> but he over stepped by challenging the president's assertion that he had in fact called it a terrorist attack on the day after it happened. >> want to make sure we get that for the record. it took the president 14 days be ie attack in benghazi an act of terror. >> he did in fact, sir. >> can you say that a little louder? >> he did call it an act of terror. it did as well take two weeks or so for the whole idea of there being a riot out there about this tape to come out. you are correct about that.l thn >> well that instant fact check had romney backers roweling about candy crowley taking sides, but it was the tactics that gave him the edge. he waited until the last minute of the debate to bring up romney's 47% comments.

reminding voters that romney called half of the country victims who refused personal responsibility. opportunity to explain. the debate was over. advantage obama jie. and there is still one more debate to come on that. it will be closely watched. twitter lit up. they released the most tweeted moments. a question about immigration drew 109,000 tweets per minute when the president told romney you are the last to get tough on china. and mitt romney's response to a tax rate question generated 107,000 tweets per minute. twitter said there were 7.2 million tweets during the town hall debate. that's compared to 10 million during the first debate. while some tweeted others discussed the debate face-to-face. alan wang has two parties, one republican and one democrat.

>> reporter: as you can get, both sides believe their man did a better job, but they agreed on one thing, that the president performed much better than he did in the last debate. >> i think obama had to win tonight and i think he did. >> reporter: they were happy to see the two candidates going toe to toe. joy he was on message and didn't let governor romney get away with anything. if the governor was going to be flashy the president was going to be in his face. rot at a gathering -- at a gathering they were equally pleased jie. they love how the economy and how weking need to put china in their place. >> they kept returning to things about the gas drilling and the numbers about the economy that the president seemed to stumble over a little bit. >> the pipeline in from canada, how in the world the president said no to the pipeline i will never know. >> both democrats and

republicans agreed that cnn was a strong moderator, but some say she may have helped the president when she called romney out on a comment he made about the attack on the u.s. embassy in libya. >> the whole idea of there being a riot act. >> was that fair?n't do to thedidn't do president. she didn't fact check anything he said and said you said this and you said that. for instance, he said he would cut the deficit in half. she never challenged him on that. >> definitely one of the more talked about moments of the night. but there is plenty more to pick over between now and the next debate. reporting live, alan wang, abc7 news. >> alan, thank you. and there will be much more ahead on the debate on "nightline" after this newscast. and the third and final presidential debate is set for next monday, october 22nd at lynn university in boca raton, florida with a focus on foreign policy.

the school district confirms the case. county health officials say the incident is not tied to the national fungal meningitis outbreak that has claimed the lives of 15 people in 15 states. for the second time in weeks a train has struck. it happened around 8:00 in madera. they managed to get out before the train struck. no one on the train was injured. the same thing happened on friday less than a mile north on those very same tracks. san francisco police are on the lookout for a vandal who has damned more than two dozen vehicles. they released a sketch of the vandal tonight. police believe this man has scratched or broken the windows of 30 cars. it started in august in the mission and dolores heights hill the morgan hill mother accused of abandoning her daughter at a grocery store says the whole thing was a misunderstanding. in an exclusive interview with our media partner marcy keelan denies ditching her

sailing team. the 72-foot catamaran for next year's cup race capsized today. they captured these pictures valued at $8 million to $10 million after it flipped over near the golden gate bridge resulting in extensive damage. team members are still working to tow it back to pier80 in san francisco. that's where lisa amin gulezian is live for us. lisa? >> carolyn, we are talking about a very, very expensive yacht. the first broken piece of the yacht arrived here at pier80 about an hour and a half ago. >> the two bows dug into the water and it rolled over itself. >> it came crashing down this afternoon the 72-foot long boat was on its eighth training exercise when rough seas and strong wind caused the boat to topple over and capsize. >> it was pretty scary, i guess. it was a surreal feeling.

i was as high as anyone so i was lucky to hold on and we made our way down and were able to jump. >> at least 13 people were on board the multimillion-dollar yacht that some call a monster to sail. it is nearly twice as long as those used in the america's cup world series, but the ac72 is stronger, faster and harder to control. this is home video as a group of onlookers watch the boat go down from the st. francis yacht club. >> i have seen the ac45 go over and none of them have failed as disasterously as this. >> disasterous because having the ac72 out of chicks will mean a major setback for team oracle. >> the fact that it will be out of action for awhile is where the setback s. they want to be able to train and learn and make the boat go faster. >> and the majority of the boat just passed under the

golden gate bridge. it is moving less than a mile an hourment the team expected to arrive here at pier80, in three or four more hours. live in san francisco tonight, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> a very long night. thank you, lisa. tonight investigators are trying to determine if a plane found near half moon bay is the same that disappeared. it was found on a bluff about 400 yards from half moon bay airport. the plane and a body inside were burned so badly that investigators are having a hard time confirming their identity. the missing plane took off from half moon bay airport last night. it never arrived at its final destination in arizona. san francisco is a finalist to host the superbowl 2016 or 2017. the pitch is to play the game at the new niners stadium being built. most of the big events would take place in san francisco. nfl owners will award the 2016 super bowl to san francisco or

everybody will feel the heat as we head into wednesday and thursday. coastal areas warm. inland areas are downright hot. tomorrow morning you can certainly count on a mild start with clear skies. temperatures will be in the mid50s to the upper 60s. you can leave your jacket or coat behind. it will be a nice looking morning. tomorrow afternoon is where it will get warm. a pretty good warm up. san jose 86 degrees in the south bay. 86 in cupertino. 85 in mill pea dis. mill pea ties. palo alto, 83 in san mateo. look at the coast. it will be warm. 76 in half moon bay. this is typically the warmest time of year for locations. 73 in daly city. the wind from the north, northeast tends to warm you up. so up to 90 in santa rosa. 90 in ukiah and head out toward the east bay and oakland hayward low 80s. 87 in hercules. it will be hot inland. 91 in livermore. this is almost summer like.
