captioned by closed captioning services, inc. good morning, i'm cheryl jennings. and i'm kristen sze. we could be in for record heat today. in the city of oakland expecting red flag warmings in some areas. good morning. we have a red flag warning that goes into effect 6:00 tonight through 8:00 tomorrow morning from the national weather service. they've extended it, it started out with sacramento valley, carquinez strait now expanded north and east bay hills, sonoma, napa, diablo

range we could see winds gusting up to 30 mights an hour and humidity dropping below 20%. average highs for this time of year 60s and 70s. we are looking at today the oakland airport 84, a record forecasting a high of lower 80s. 10 to 12° above average even in the north bay with downsloping winds, maybe santa rosa could see a record as well. in weather conditions similar to these crews are fighting a wildfire in the hills above santa barbara. here's a live look of the smoke and flames. smoke rising as crews try to gain control of the fire line. it started around 8 a.m. has burned 15 acres so far. homes are threatened. evacuations are taking place. six air tankers have been called to help slow the blaze. the cause remains under investigation. a captain says there are power

lines down in that area. >> in the bay area firefighters put out a debris fire in newark. this fire burned through a fence and torched a truck. the cause is under investigation and officials say there is a homeless encampment nearby. in san jose, this plume of smoke rising from trees near kelly park caused by a small grass fire that crews quickly put out. earlier this summer kelly park had a series of fires that officials suspect was started by people from a homeless encampment. right now crews of oracle team u.s.a. are trying pull a 7 foot broken 10 million dollar yacht out of the -- 72 foot broken 10 million dollar yacht out of the water. katie marzullo joins us live from pier 80. >> reporter: the catamaran was towed overnight. we've been watching all morning since 7:30 this

bike is still missing. the plate 18 w 5272. police have two men and a woman in custody after a high chase through antioch and pittsburg last night. the suspects crashed near this i-hop in pittsburg. investigators say it started around:30, a couple was carjacked after leaving -- around 8 30, a couple was carjacked after leaving a restaurant in antioch. oakland police are looking for the people posting fliers downtown calling for violence against occupy oakland protesters next week telling oakland residents to bring baseball bats to the occupy anniversary event to beat up vandals and anarchists. a group claims responsibility for that fire police are investigating who posted those fliers. what may be the final fall

campaign trail this morning after last night's debate that saw a much dunk president obama than americans saw in the first. t.j. winick joins us live from new york where the debate was held. >> reporter: whether president obama won or not last night most believe he did what he had to do to make this a real fight the last few weeks before election day. president obama made his first post debate campaign stop in iowa where he jocked with the crowd despite favorable -- where he joked with the crowd. >> >> the president: i'm still trying to figure out how go the hang of this thing, debating. we're working on it. we'll keep on improving as time goes on, i've got one left. >> reporter: mitt romney stumped in virginia. >> i love these debates. these things are great. the bad news just keeps coming for lance armstrong more fallout that he used performance-enhancing drugs. >> reporter: today may have marked the final fall from grace. he announced he's stepping down as chairman of his cancer-fighting charity live strong. on the heels of that nike said they were severing their endorsement deal. nike previously said it was standing by armstrong because he maintained his innocence. in a statement nike president said: >> reporter: at nike's world headquarters his name will be removed from the fitness center. nike has faced enormous pressure to drop armstrong. in portland yesterday demonstrators took to the streets.
