in florida and ohio today mr. romney will be in nevada and colorado as for last night's foreign policy debate most are giving the win to president obama. many are commenting on how much the two candidates were on common ground. they agreed on iranian sanctions and policies in syria, egypt and afghanistan. that did not stop jabs. >> i congratulate him on taking out osama bin laden. but we can't kill our way out of this mess. >> the president: i'm glad you recognize al-qaeda is a threat. a few months ago when you were asked what is the biggest geo political threat facing america, you said russia. >> when talking about trade with china they argued over united states jobs and auto industry. latest poll has president obama with a slim one point lead heading into the election. a man in custody for beating an elderly woman nearly to death for no reason. it happened saturday afternoon

only a one point lead over the mitt romney with the election two weeks away. last night in boca raton, florida it was all about foreign policy, supposed to be. president obama said the u.s. and allies have imposed crippling sanctions on iran to halt nuclear weapons development. romney answered saying the u.s. should have done more. he said repeatedly we are four years closer to a nuclear iran. candidates clashed over military spending. >> navy is smaller now than any time since 1917. >> the president: governor we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military has changed. >> reporter: fact checkers say romney was wrong about the military being smaller. there are slightly more ships active now than at the low point under president george w. bush. president obama's bayonet response prompting a spike in google searches for the record the army and marines do still use bayonets. of note, campaigning today,

eric mentioned that romney will be in colorado he's wrapping up in colorado with a rally with kid rock. katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> alameda county sheriff's office will release more information about a woman found dead in a burning castro valley home. crews put out the fire at this home on san carlos avenue in 20 minutes last thursday they found the woman's body sign. investigators declared the fire suspicious saying there were signs an accelerant may have been used. today we expect to learn the victim's name. the home is owned by retired san francisco firefighter. a he's not considered a suspect. san bruno city council will vote on a measure this evening that calls for ousting the head of public utilities commission. eight people died when a pipeline exploded beneath their neighborhood in september of 2010.

welcome back. sutro tower looking down on san francisco towards the east bay no rain here i am tracking showers on live doppler and more in the forecast. i'll have that in a few minutes. first more news. 5:43. authorities are trying to figure out the identity of a woman whose body washed up on a beach in san mateo county. the body was found half mile south of the beach entrance. a couple spotted it sunday afternoon and called 911. the sheriff's department says, the woman was fully clothed, wearing jeans, black boots, red top with pink braces on her teeth

police in southern california say a man who was set on fire appears to be an innocent victim. this is just released video from last friday outside a long beach market, the victim on a ground on the left of the screen, boom a man walks up and tosses a molotov cocktail setting him on fire the victim is in critical but stable condition. >> gentleman -- las vegas police have zeroed in on a suspect who allegedly stole 1.6 million dollars in chips. he's a 31-year-old man of southern california he walked into the venetian casino october 10th, got into an area closed to the public pride open a chip container police say it is unlikely he will be able to redeem those chips all the casinos in vegas are on the lookout for them. bloomberg police report, next. race to save this year's
