it's rather quiet this morning. no need to worry about wet weather. fog hasn't formed yet. air is dry this morning. that is going to lead to a lot of sunshine during the afternoon hours. it will be calmer at the coast than yesterday. temperatures in the upper 60s. definitely brighter everywhere with upper 60s to mid-70s around the bay. inland temperatures. it will be sunny and warmer, 73 to about 76. here is sue. >> overnight road work to remind folks this is going to happen from westbound 4 from lone tree to summersville from midnight to 3:00 a.m. and down to one lane southbound across the golden gate bridge until 5:30. west ramp remains closed at this hour and that should be picked up by 6:00. >> eric: it's 4:31. two occupy protestors are facing

charges after a march through down only to mark the anniversary of violent clashes with police. sky 7 was overhead when a group marched for several hours. a 25-year-old stockton man was arrested along with another person. earlier at the plaza, speakers urged protestors not to vandalize during the march. some members argued with young demonstrators who appeared ready to do some damage. >> i'm only going to use this in case of an emergency. that is it. that is nothing else. >> you have no plan to break in any business windows? >> none, whatsoever. >> eric: some demonstrators said they might three to camp out. about 30 protestors reconvened late last night but the same number of police officers station there had to watch them through the night. as of this morning, the plaza is

empty. >> kristen: giants head to detroit for game three. the giants were ahead 2-0 after a surprise start by madison bumgarner who pitched seven scoreless innings. then in the ninth, romo shut the tigers down. giants beat detroit 2-0 and san francisco needs to win two more to capture the second world series title in three years. i'm same live at mccovey cove with family action. >> they are giving you a little bit of anything. if you like blowouts you got that. if you like a nail-biter they gave you that last night. the giants' fans seemed happy. they liked what they saw with their team now up 2-0 in this series. its position in this postseason series but not quite used to.

they are up and. fans are so excited. some of them stood in line and watched through a chain link fence in the out field for free. >> came and waited in line. yeah for a couple of hours. in we were, it was amazing. >> reporter: now the team is headed to detroit. they will leave this morning. giants are going to take their entire front office to detroit. they usually don't to do that but because of this world series they want everyone to share in the moment. they are worried about how cold it's supposed to be. the giants are set to play tomorrow with vogelsong pitching for the giants. >> kristen: how cold it is going to be. we'll have to ask mike nicco about that. the series shift to detroit.

vogelsong starts for n game three. game four is sunday. matt cain will take the hill then and game five will be monday in detroit if necessary. >> eric: alameda county sheriff's office says they will be more information following a house fire where a woman's body was found. that fire happened on san carlos avenue last thursday. authorities say the victim barbara la choley was brutally beaten and suspect set the fire to cover up the crime. they say he took valuable items from the home and fled in a volvo that was later found abandoned. >> kristen: we're getting our first look of a san francisco man of kidnapping a girl from a bathroom last month. he is charged with taking the girl from park side elementary school in san mateo and

molesting her. she managed to fight off her attacker and run back to the school. park site elementary increased security in the wake of the kidnapping. prosecutors accuse of photographing girls of a daly city girl last spring. he faces a life sentence in prison. >> police in vallejo are looking around who is stealing laughing gas from local dentists. first happened in october 18th when somebody broke into a lockbox and made off with a hundred pound drum of nitrous oxide. it's called laughing gas and used by dentists to calmer in vows patients but also a popular way to get high among teens and young adults. >> kristen: george mitchell is offering to withdraw from the san bruno settlement talks. san bruno council has cuesed them of a conflict of interest

because they represented an insurance company involved in the negotiations. they say the california puc picked of him el to mediate without consulting them. >> eric: hurricane sandy is going through the caribbean leaving more than 30 deaths in its wake. you see the ominous skies as sandy approaches. by the time the storm reaches the u.s. it could be much more powerful. katie marzullo is in the storm track. >> reporter: some are calling it franken storm. it's very scary storm ahead of halloween as a category 2 hurricane. it has killed 21 people across the caribbean and 11 people in cuba. you know the bahamas are next. then the east coast of the u.s. is in harm's way more ways than one. experts say sandy could join

with other systems and form a super storm. they could expect high winds, heavy rains and extreme tide and maybe snow beginning early sunday and things should peak with the arrival of sandy on tuesday. >> it does bring a lot of rain and builds it up. it could possibly be worse than isaac out there. >> reporter: isaac hit louisiana in august you will remember as a category one storm. it killed seven people. right now local governments and utilities are heading off long term power outages there. they predict at least one billion dollars in damage. >> kristen: and let's go to mike nicco to take a closer look at sandy's path. >> i think people are focusing

too much on the strength of what sandy is going to be the tropical storm. that won't be the big issue. perfect storm back in 1991 because tropical storm hooked up with antarctic cold front and the temperature contrast is with a created a super storm. that is what is going to happen with sandy. that is why don't just look at how strong it's going to be as a tropical storm. watch what happens when it joins the moisture air when it hits new england. a lot of rip currents along the eastern seaboard and thunderstorms are possible as it slides up the gulf stream over the next 36 hours. it takes a turn back and look how it hits right around southern jesse which will put it around new york and d.c. and could be a super storm. with heavy rain and a storm surge that could be pretty big

and led to the evacuation of a hospital. authorities report no injuries or major damage. some homes did suffer cracks. this is an area that is prone to moderate quakes. >> san francisco police officers will fan out across the city to warn muni riders about the growing problem of cellphone thefts. they will pass out leaflets warning riders about a recent string of strong armed robberies for passengers that use tablets. robberies also happen on buses. officers will tackle one problem catching fare evaders that ride without paying. >> the tour de france champion is calling members of the body to resign. three-time winner greg leman and honorary president should step down. in an open letter on his facebook page, he calls the two

71 in oakland. livermore, 76 today. that is pretty much par for the course. mid-70s for you. upper 50s to mid-70s with sunshine around the monterey bay. if you are traveling, few showers possible around eureka and mount shasta but increasing sunshine. mid-80s around palm springs and los angeles. tonight will be clear and temperatures in the 40s but more 50s tonight. this morning was the coolest morning. check out the temperatures over the weekend, 80 inland and mid-70s around the bay and you can see a chance rain lingering into wednesday. >> happy friday. take our first look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it's light. no metering lights, no problems on the upper deck into san francisco. maintenance truck off to the right shoulder there that is not causing any problems. southbound golden gate bridge is looking good.

plant. >> police are looking for a man that at least robbed half dozen banks. they released this photo. he is wanted for holdups in campbell, los gatos and most recently at sunnyvale bank of america. the robbery started in august. man is described as 5'9" with a stocky build and police say he does not appear to have been armed during the robberies. >> kristen: next week, winter season begins with tougher penalty. air quality management has higher fines for people that burn wood during spare-the-air alert. they will receive hundred dollar fine. second time offenders will receive a $500 ticket, up from $400 last year. it runs from november 1st to february of next year. >> san francisco likes to bill itself as a green city but many

are upset after receiving notices they are now responsible for taking care of the trees in front of their property. job of tree maintenance belongs to the department of public works, but after years of budget cuts, it just can't keep up with the recommended cycle for bruce o pruning trees and public right of way let alone those on sidewalk. they unsuccessfully searched for more funding. >> it makes no sense to require property owners to take care of street trees that they may not own, they may not want. they may not know how to take care of. >> city does a great job to keep the trees beautiful but it's their problem and not ours. >> eric: this is the second time the care of trees have been forced on the owners. back in the 90s to do that or have them cut down.
