[ inaudible ] . good morning i'm kristen sze. and i'm eric thomas. mike has been tracking sandy and looking at our weather. we start with ours. there's fog on top of the bay bridge bridge this morning. it looks like that is going -- going to be our biggest issue during the morning hours, fog, no organized wet weather other than the mist. areas in almost purple, bay valleys along the coast, bay shoreline to the monterey bay, dense fog advisory until can -- until 8:00, sreubs ability quarter mile or less through 8:00. i believe it is going to be

foggy through the bay, lunch hour upper 50s to mid 60s and then mostly sunny by 4:00, upper 60s to low 70's. inland fog thickest north bay and around concord this morning. by noon, sunshine, low to mid 60s 4:00 temperature low to mid 70s, out to the coast clouds are going to be stubborn today pockets of sun in the afternoon, starting in the low to mid 50s we end up in the low to mid 60s. good morning. monday morning commute live look at the bay bridge toll, no metering lights yet you can see cash paying folks starting to back up you can see the fog settles on the bay bridge problem on the golden gate bridge this morning. san mateo bridge good tail lights headed towards the highrise towards foster city, moving at the limit. elsewhere slow north 101, third to peninsula might ab issue.

sweeping vehicles have been through the last few hours. it is not as bad as it was. let's show you this incredible youtube video. at mission and 22nd it was police vs. part at the scene of a big bonfire, two rows of riot gear stood as human blockade with police cars behind them overheard, officers told those revelers get out of the street or you will be arrested. they gave the fans multiple warnings before they moved in and after thousands of fans clocking the street. those fans began -- tkhraorbging the street. those fans began throwing bottles, to be honest it looks like law enforcement was outnumbered by these people partying. celebrating the giant's huge win. that did turn violent at time there is were fans celebrate going a more safe and joyous fashion.

>> it is amazing, a sweep it is unbelievable. long-suffering giants' fans we thought i have tickets for game six. >> reporter: obviously, we won't ever get to that game six, wonderful thing for giants fans. one business owner in the mission tells us those celebrations were often scary at times, but she says exciting overall. all those bonfires that lined mission street and has left debris, we are told are the results of timing. monday morning is trash day here on mission street. so revelers were able to grab piles of trash and set them on fire. overall, quiet morning here now as life resumes a little bit back to normal just with a world series title handling over the city now. kira klapper, abc7 news. from the mission district to the south of market now, rowdy fans prompted large police response there as well.

amy hollyfield continues our live team coverage outside at&t park with a look at the cleanup there. [ unintelligible ] >> reporter: they've opened up the area, the street sweepers have gone through and tried to get ready for monday morning and clean up the rowdy celebration. look at pictures what it looked like overnight this celebration went into extra innings. there was a bonfire in the middle of king and third which created quite a mess for crews to cleanup this morning. fans said they just wanted a place to be able to celebrate. the party spilled over to market street out of control fans there set a muni bus on fire, they overturned a car that was parked there on market street. we saw some people harassing a cab driver, just trying to get through the area. the crowds were so big at times traffic had trouble getting through. police officers were in their riot gear. they say they did see some injuries. at times police officers

seemed to keep a hands-off approach. they said the gel was public safety and safety of their -- said the goal was public safety and the safety of their officers. >> these are the people we don't want to be on the streets celebrate -- celebrating because they ruin it for everyone else. we want them to have their moment but we don't want unrule behavior occurring in our city. >> reporter: -- police say people did throw rocks and s at police. they saw illegal fire -- fireworks. officers say there were some who were hurt no life-threatening injuries they are working to gather official information of how many people were hurt and what happened to them. they made rests, we are waiting on those numbers -- they made arrests, we are waiting on those numbers. the rowdy crowds have gone home we've seen a fan and there straggle through. the question everyone keeps asking is, when are the giants coming home?

. >> good news it is not wet this morning. not even drizzle. what you are feeling when you step out is mist, a lot of moisture hanging in the air that is going to create a few issues due to fog. visibilities are very low in the shaded areas you see north bay valleys, bay shoreline, coast down to the monterey bay dense fog advisory until 8:00, visibilities less than a quarter of a mile dangerous tricky travel there. fog will start lifting 8:00, visibilities could stay pretty low through at least 10:00. right now breaking news, we continue to track hurricane sandy forcasters say the storm is 310 miles southeast of new york city now. the center of the storm is expected to be near the mid atlantic coast tonight, already there's been damage. tahman bradley is live in ocean city, maryland.

>> reporter: good morning. sandy is picking up speed, churning at 85 miles per hour enormous storm, 900 miles wide, she hasn't arrived yet, folks are hunkering down not taking chances the worst is still to come. mid atlantic region bracing, monster of unprecedented size and scope, transportation brought to a standstill, united, delta, american, jetblue and us airways have shutdown east coast operations which will have a ripple affect across the nation. >> when our flight cancellations in major hubs, that affects travelers all over the country. >> reporter: amtrak cancelled service along the east coast in new york city are where the biggest fear is the storm surge, all subway and bus transportation suspended, hundreds of thousands of new yorkers ordered to evacuate from low-lying areas.

>> if you don't evacuate you are not just putting your own life in danger, you are also engagering the lies of our first responders who may have to rescue -- the lives of our first responders who may have to rescue you. >> reporter: regulators worried about integrity of markets. red cross mobilizing, heading east. >> no tell wag is going to happen. it could be quite -- no telling what is going to happen. it could be a lot of devastation, a lot of flooding. >> no sense of stocking refrigerators if the power guess out, best with reality. >> what can you do? -- flee the country. >> reporter: thousands of utility workers from across the country en route to the region to help repair power outages which could leave million in the dark for a week or more. >> the president: it may take a long time to clear and get the power companies back in to clear trees and put things

back in place. >> reporter: look at these enormous waves behind me out here in what would be the beach. they've picked up in the past few hours. sandy is expected to make landfall tonight in new jersey. we are already feeling the affects, it is those waves and this is heavy rain and wind. >> the storm is so massive. wondering with schools and businesses closed and no transit in many cities, i guess a lot of people staying indoors, heeding that warning from officials to stay inside? >> reporter: yeah, it seems like people are heeding the advice of officials. there were a number of evacuations here in ocean city. i've not seen too many people walking out and about governors are taking this seriously. in delaware, the governor has ordered all roads closed. there's only emergency vehicles out. so far folks are hunkering down knowing this is a devastating storm and the worst hasn't arrive yet.

news, fairly dry, picking up dry air above the fog that we are seeing that means mist hanging in the air so watch out for that. you can see how massive this storm is with the eye still about 2 -- i did extrapolation, 290 miles away from new york as it moves north northwest at 20 miles per hour snow in the appalachians, down into the north carolina mountains, they are getting snow out of this system as that cold air starting to wrap in. heaviest rain across the delmarva peninsula towards baltimore and washington as we speak. there's the snow as you look at west virginia, virginia, north carolina, tennessee at the bottom of your screen, it is going to be a dousing of snow for those folks. 85 mile per hour winds, fastest part of the storm, most dangerous is going to be on the northern part of it, which puts night philadelphia,

looks like it is going to take a little more work we'll come back to amy, sorry about that. more on that later in the meantime the giants are coming home this afternoon they will be flying in at 3:00 this afternoon after that four game sweep of the tigers. the big win coming in the 10th inning romo -- boom, got him, giants win 4-3 as the celebration begins. the team's only regret they didn't win in front of their hometown fans that's already. the first time since the 1985 kansas city royals to win six elimination games on tear way to capturing the world series. giants will be honored with a parade wednesday morning. mayor lee announced the city will salute the champions as they did in 2010 when this parade concluded with the celebration at civic center plaza. lincecum there. the parade will start at 11

here's a look from atlantic city this morning where the casinos are closing. sandy laps at the shore there. winds gutting up around 35 to 40 miles per hour, rain light to moderate now. you don't see it blowing sideways yet, probably going to happen as the afternoon unfolds and sandy gets closer to making landfall near atlantic city. you can see it there churning off the ocean look how far inland with cold air wrapping in and snow in the appalachians. more been this in the --

6:43 after giants won the world series last night problems developed hours after the final game in downtown san francisco along market after midnight near at&t park. amy hollyfield is live at third and king with more for us. >> reporter: the party did get rowdy last night. take a look at some of the pictures around the third and king street area in front of the ballpark. there were a few bonfires people lit in the middle of the street danced and celebrated around it said they wanted a place to celebrate. large crowds moved to market where out of control fans overturned a car, also set a muni bus on fire. police were in their riot gear they seemed to take a hands off approach at times saying focus was public safety and safety of their officers. >> i was absolutely shocked, i

couldn't believe that was happening. it is scary to think because the giants won -- it is supposed to be fun. too bad there wasn't we could all go and have a good time. >> reporter: police said there were injuries, nothing life-threatening. they also did make some arrests but haven't been able to tell us how many, we are still waiting to get that information. most of the night has been spent cleaning the streets. we've seen the street sweepers they had the streets blocked off until 5:00 this morning. looking back to normal out here, streets are open, cleaned, most of the crowds have gone home. we did see a fan or two staggering through and their question was, when are the giants coming home? looks like this is just a pause in the party everyone is ready to welcome the team back home and celebrate again the answer is their plane is landing at 3:00 this afternoon. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. we'll talk more about the

giants and the parade and the weather for the parade. right now breaking news coverage of hurricane sandy continues. katie marzullo is live in the newsroom with the latest. >> reporter: sandy trending big time on twitter eye been following our station in new york, new tweet says 30 foot piece of the atlantic city boardwalk is floating down a local street. we have a live look of atlantic city, knowledge more than 5500 people have lost power -- president obama has sign add emergency declaration for the state of the new jersey this is kill devil hills, lots of rain, offshore ship in distress the crew has abandoned it. the coast guard has rescued 14 of the 16 onboard two are missing the coast guard is searching for them now. in banner elk, north carolina it is snowing. all of this weather and it is only the beginning of the

three events -- in three states after visiting fema yesterday. fema workers will run the nerve center and coordinate the government's response to the storm. meantime mitt romney is campaigning in the midwest out of the storm's path. romney campaigned in the crucial battle gun state of ohio yesterday instead of in -- battleground state of ohio yesterday instead of virginia. he did call off events in new hampshire for tomorrow >> stock market is closed, regulators decided to shutdown the new york stock exchange the dow jones or the new york stock exchange because of the threat posed to manhattan and the nasdaq. last time the stock exchange was closed was 9/11. most mass transit in new york city shutdown making it nearly impossible for traders to get to work. regulators considering another shutdown tomorrow that decision has not been made. stay with abc7 news we are continuing coverage of

than it was last time we won. it will still feel warm and fuzzy when you are enjoying it, cannes wait to see all the people you -- can't wait to see all the people you interview. fog is the biggest concern, moisture hanging in the air, trapping in lower levels of the atmosphere creating dangerous drying conditions. let's talk about sandy, still a hurricane, still offshore about 280 miles southeast of new york. you can see the waves of water moving ashore. my biggest concern now is new york and long island where the storm surge i think is going to be the strongest, plus you are going to funnel that water into the hudson bay and boroughs, jfk's elevation is 13 feet if this comes with any kind of storm surge, granted barrier island in front, so is there along the entire long island sound still
