a firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation after a two alarm fire in the ocean view district the fire started on the second floor of a three story building this was 5:30 this morning. 25 residents were evacuated and now being helped by the red cross the fire forced muni to reroute its m line. the cause still under investigation. oakland police investigating the case of a woman killed by a stray bullet while walking on international

taxpayers will pay additional 299 million dollars to pg&e but that is 39% less than pg&e requested. the city of oakland holding more than $300,000 in overpaid parking tickets. audit shows the excess fines have gone unclaimed because oakland hasn't notified people as required by state law. $316,000 in overpaid fines reports from 2010 to 2011. as a result, the city is putting a refund process into place. america's best selling car is getting the worst marks in a new crash test the camry earned a poor rating in recent tests the group says the front end crash pushed the air bag out of the way so it did little to protect the test dummy's head. the prius hybrid wagon performed poorly only the 2013
