a firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation after a two alarm fire in the ocean view district the fire started on the second floor of a three story building this was 5:30 this morning. 25 residents were evacuated and now being helped by the red cross the fire forced muni to reroute its m line. the cause still under investigation. oakland police investigating the case of a woman killed by a stray bullet while walking on international

california public utilities commission has just voted unanimously to allow pg&e to raise its rates. the upgrades come in the wake of the deadly san bruno pipeline explosion that killed eight people two years ago.
