looks mellow right now but do not let that fool you. the officials say this creek has caused problems and they expect it will cause problems again. so they will attack it today. they will line the creek with sandbags. it took them a day to prepare the sand bags. they filled 4,000 sandbags. they are hoping the sandbags will keep the creek contained for the rainy season. they are worried. the levee and the creek are damaged l is water that eroded the bank. the damage happened on christmas eve. there was heavy rain that night and the creek came up over the levee and flooded seven homes and streets. it cost $2.7 million for repairs. officials have to fine the money, the city of east palo alto does not have the money and they hope the state will help. figuring all that out, of

fourth tried to hide in a neighbor's garage. the home owner was alerted by the dogs barking and found the 4th person hiding and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived and made the arrest. police say jewelry and electronics were stolen and throw suspects of juveniles. >> the nhl owners are meeting in new york city to vote on the tentative deal struck over the weekend to end their lockout. if the majority of the owners i approve the deal, the nhl will move closer to the end the four month lock out. a majority of 700 hockey players must aroof the deal and the nhl is expected to begin the 48-game season january 19. training camp included the sharks are slated to open on sunday. >> after the next weather system moves in maybe they can play hockey outside. >> we look at how cold it will be.

the temperatures are mainly in the mid-50's and around the state you can see the storm system kicking up lower elevation showers and higher elevations, and the radar runs are not that impressive as the storm system is moisture starved. what you are seeing is a wide area of moisture but not much falling out of it. if you headed up to tahoe we will have snow this evening and snow showers tomorrow and there could be powder if you are headed up this weekend. >> road work is still out there eastbound 4 before bailey and railroad avenue and you can see slow sensors on the eastbound direction. westbound, though the news is it is already happening slowly out of antioch and fog to pittsburg and 20-minute drive to concord from antioch. south san jose, southbound 101, overturn in the ditch with crews on the scene and we have northbound caltrain delay at ten minutes. no other mass transit problems

speeds are good but the sensors are showing flat tires and delay westbound to the dublin/pleasanton area. southbound 238 beyond 580 we have first report of a stall and you could find slow traffic there moving to the castro valley area and caltrain northbound 101 train reporting ten-minute delay. >> federal investigators will give us a better idea of what exactly they will take a look at the oil tanker crash at the bay bridge. more details on the warning that the bar pilot received. our reporter was first to report the information live on the midday news yesterday. >> two investigations are underway, the coast guard investigation and ntsb has an investigator on the ground trying to figure what happened with the ship, the 750' "overseas raymar" is still anchored between alcatraz and treasure island. the bar pilot we learn was

warned by the coast guard he was off course before the collision. the coast guard officials boarding the "overseas raymar" yesterday are conducting an investigation. the oil tanker sideswiped the base of the bay bridge tower to the west of the island, the closest tower. fog was probably not a factor and the bar pilot was warned by the coast guard vessel traffic service. we spoke with an attorney would has handled these incidents about the investigations. >> there is like a little black box and it shows the maneuvers of the vessel and i would look at the engine room logs and the deck log. >> ntsb investigating today and they will get on board the ship to see what is going on there and the crew of 20 on "overseas raymar" still on the ship and

they are not allowed to get off and go anywhere else. the ship itself has to be fixed with a dented hull. how long will that take? also, the bay bridge suffered no structural damage and there were no injuries as a result of all of this. a lot of the investigation is still ahead. the ntsb will not have their findings for many months or maybe a year. live on treasure island for abc7 news. >> the abc7 news i-team uncovered new information on guy kleess the bar pilot at the helm of the "overseas raymar" at the time of the accident. there were three addresses under his name, one in san francisco and one in wyoming and the most current in maryland. this is video provided to us by the san francisco bar pilots who work a week on and a week off but they can trade shifts. we asked the shipping industry officials of the possibility of
