officer. thankfully he's going to be okay. abc 7 news is live tonight with the story. nick? >> good evening. police say that the man, the men they've arrested have ties to gangs and say during the search, they recovered weapons hidden in the home, cars, and even on the roof tops. oak plnd police arrested two men for parole violations and holding three others. they have not released names but confirmed that all have ties to a local gang and say all five men are directly connected to the shooting that wounded an under cover officer last night. the search for suspects left parts of the lock down for 20 hours, so could not get into their home autos they're doing their job. sou can't blame them. they didn't shoot the police. >> police say the search was essential. sky 7 was there after police say an under cover officer was jumped by at least three men, beaten, and then, shot. the wounded officer shot in the arm and recovering at home

as police continued their hunlt for those who beat and shot him. >> we have three people who are involved in the beating as well as shooting of the officer. >> investigators have not identified the shooter but confirmed the gun is believed to be among at least five weapons recovered during this search. we've learned why that officer was in the neighborhood. police say he was investigating the shooting of a 19-year-old oakland man. no suspects have been arrested in that case and the victim is expected to survive. all of this as the city council is expected to approve hiring of normaller new york city and police chief william brat onto help curve violent crime in oakland. now, that city council meeting starts at 5:30. now, the chief's tactics are controversial and have drawn kbrofts but others believe they'renessry. now cure during that search, they recovered five weapons. one they believe was used to
