we have breaking news from sonoma an officer-involved shooting involving sonoma county sheriff deputies. they shot a suspect around 11:00 last night. it may have started with a sexual assault on a woman and possibly a kidnapping. we are working to get more information for you with a crew headed that way. we will bring you more information when it is available. >> developing news from riverside county where a fast-moving wildfire is forcing people to grab a few possessions and get out. katie marzullo is monitoring the situation and live in the newsroom. >> we have live pictures for you this morning. we want to take you up. this is abc in los angeles at this hour, the evacuation situations as of this morning are voluntary and that is due partly to the weather and firefighters got a break because humidity was up and the wins were counsel, but we understand that could change as santa ana

winds are expected to kick up in southern california with a wind advisory in effect until this afternoon. you can see flames are burning. when the pilot pulls out you will be able to see the fire trucks. 2,000 people are without power in southern california and the fire destroyed seven power poles. the fire has burned 150 acres since yesterday at 4:45. it is now 30 percent contained. the fire may have been sparked by downed power lines. >> thank you, katie. santa cruz police officers are going back on duty this morning for the first time since two colleagues in the department were killed by a man they investigated. cornell bernard is live in the santa cruz police station with the latest.

cornell? >> the officers will be back on the job later this morning after several days of mourning the loss of their fellow officers. a memorial has grown by leaps and bounds with flowers and notes in honor of connective sergeant bump baker and elizabeth butler murdered on tuesday by jeremy goulet. we are learning chilling details about his past. besides misdemeanor convictions he faced two rape charges in the army in 2006 which could have put him away if life. we spoke with a defense attorney who represented him. the first alleged rape happened days after he arrived at the airfield in monday lou although and the second a few months later. >> there were identification issues in the first case and the second case there remain credibility issues, the young woman was, extremely drunk.

>> despite the seriousness of both cases goulet plea bargained a less than honorable discharge and more details about what led up to the shooting, the detectives specific to him through a screen door and ambushed and he ambushed the officers by coming out a side door. they did not have time to run or react. he took off with their car, guns, and body armor. he was later shot dead by police. a bullet from the shooting grazed a woman walking two blocks away. she was not hurt. police officers back on duty later this morning and the sheriff department in santa cruz county has been patrolling the streets. >> the memorial for the two officers will take place at the kaiser permanente arena in santa cruz on thursday at 11 a.m. with overflow seating veil at the santa cruz civic auditorium.

it is national day of unplugging, starting at sunset, people are encouraged to turn off their cell phones and walk away from the tablet or computers for 24 hours. experts say important moments are passing us by as we bury our nose in technology. i have only tweeted two things this morning trying to unplug. >> breaking news from the north bay an overnight shooting under investigation in sonoma county. >> a hand was slot and killed overnight in the wine country and deputies say it started when a man kidnapped a woman from san rafael. >> we are tracking developses from in southern california, a massive fire battle and evacuations underway in riverside county.

>> we have breaking news from the north bay. we received new information on a deadly shooting involving the sonoma county sheriff's department. amy hollyfield, we understand it started with a kidnapping and high speed pursuit? >> we did just get a press release. the suspect was slot and -- shot and killed. it started as a kidnapping in san rafael and ended in guerneville in the russian river valley of the wine country. it is in sonoma county the northwest of santa rosa. it ended there at 11:20, but it started at 10:45 when a woman was kidnapped and texting information to her friend from inside the car. she was trapped in there for 45 minutes when police finally were able to free her in guerneville.

the shooting scene in guerneville officers say she was able to give a description of the car in her text, a patrol officer spotted the car and tried to stop him but he took off and they had to chase him using spike strips. he went around them a couple times and he finally lost control of the car and crashed in an embankment. deputies helped the woman escape and while they tried to arrest him a deputy shot and killed hill. a press release does not say why they shot the man. we hope to follow that up with police later today. the woman is okay. they are interviewing her right new. they are trying to get a handle on whether she knew the man, who he was, and why he did this. >> and now the weather forecast if fri
