was shot to death by jeremy goulet who was killed shortly after in a shoot out with police. a memorial for the two police officers is held thursday at noon at the h.p. pavilion in san jose to accommodate the large crowd that is expected. a motorcade procession will precede the memorial with sheriff and firefighters and emergency responders. >> the san francisco police department is on alert after a high-powered rifle was stolen from a police car. a high ranking member says the ar15 was taken yesterday from an unmarked car like this one. we are told the car was locked. the assault rifle was properly secured. detectives do not know if the thief was specifically looking for the rifle. an alert went to all officers to look out for the weapon. the man accused of killing a bay

area rapper in las vegas on the strip will appear los angeles superior court. ammar harris seen in this video faces extradition from california to nevada. the 26-year-old self described pitch was arrested in north hollywood ending a week-long manhunt following the february 21 shooting. police say harris fired at least five shots in a mazurati sports car. he killed kenneth cherry jr., an oakland rapper. two others died when his car slammed into a tax after he was shot. >> in los gatos there could be a ban on selling any guns in the city. it applies only to new guns after neighbors voices concerns of the opening of a gunshot. one questions why local authorities grantedded permission for the store to operate before it obtained the federal fire aways sales permit. the plan needs votes from four

five council members to pass. >> family in san francisco hopes someone can help locate their missing loved one. 34-year-old man disappeared from his home on friday night. his family tells police he was the mental capacity of a 12 to found-year-old. he suffers from depression, and is confused and lost and can be extremely forgetful. he was last seen wearing a blue jacket and red and white sneakers. >> a home burglary turned into a stand off all on camera. a woman held officers at bay with a shotgun after breaking into a home. abc7 news has the video you will only see here on abc7 news. >> as the stand off closed, officers in helmets and vests shouted commands to a woman holed up in a home near the

presidio. a rifle and a hatchet were tossed on the sidewalk. moments later a woman wearing pajama pants was hauled from the house. she was taken to a nearby ambulance and she was examined by paramedics. >> she did not smile. >> neighbor who does not want to use her name says she saw the woman trying to get in her building minutes before this stand off began. >> i confronted her and said what are you doing and she twitched, sort of, and walked away and i saw her walk up the hill. >> police mounted a buildup that took 2 1/2 hours to get her to surrender. she break into the home while the residents were." >> there was a burglary in process. the victim thought they heard

someone in the home when they returned. >> the residents founds the woman in the home and flagged down a bus driver and he called 9-1-1. the woman has refused to identify herself. her rifle belonged to the residents of the house and not loaded with a triggerlock on it. >> cardinals are gathered for the first round of meetings before the conclave to select a new pope. cardinals from around the world arrived in italy four days after pope benedict vacated the leadership post. they will meet twice a day to set a date to begin to discuss the type of pope that should lead the church. when the conclave begins they can knock taught to anyone outside or leave until the voting is gone. >> we will pray together. we will talk together. we will get to know each other

brought in to research. >> we were incredibly surprised. now at 2 1/2, doctors say the child no longer requires any medication. now, doctors are trying to copy the drugs and they hope the findings will help other h.i.v.-infected babies so they no longer require life-long treatment. the research that started with a mistake in mississippi will be discussed at length today at a conference in atlanta. >> what is left of a florida home will be demolished after a sinkhole swallow add man. crews tore down the wails of the home. a giant sinkhole performed below the house and swallowed up the 36-year-old jess bush as he slept in his bedroom. the size of the sing hole made it too dangerous for crews to look for the body. family member whose lived in the home for 40 years watched as the demolition began. two other homes are in danger of collapse. >> queen elizabeth is expected

exercise regiment, how does it look outside for folks? >> pretty good. also, most of the day tomorrow. tomorrow in the evening we will get our rain and scattered showers with the cold air mass on wednesday and thursday but by the weekend it will be more spring-like weather, like this weekend. it is quiet this morning. zoom out and i will show you the next system. it is spinning in the northern pacific ocean. right now the lows are headed back to the west but the cold air is behind this. it will shove the system toward us. it will get here tomorrow. right now, a beautiful picture from the roof camera showing the cloud cover over the bay. san francisco is at 48. oakland is at 47. san jose is at 50. we are in the upper 40's in palo alto. mill valley is cooler, at 45. in the east bay, looking from the toll plaza toward the east, you can see the clouds taking

away our visibility of the east bay hills. the temperature right new in santa rosa is 46 and livermore is 46, too. gilroy is 49 degrees. a very mild start thanks to the cloud cover. headed to the afternoon, we are going to see the clouds open up. that is why we have partly cloudy conditions. because we have the cloud cover this morning we will be off to a slow start warming so a lot of upper 50's to low 60's and a few mid 50's like san mateo and san francisco and low-to-mid 40's along the coast where the clouds are more stubborn. tonight, well open up the clouds. we will be five- to ten-degrees cooler with low-to-mid 40's around the bay shore and out to the coast. you can see the system out here to our west. it is moving toward us. right now, we have a small bubble of high pressure taking over. as the system draws near, it will bring rain to our neighborhoods on tuesday. here we are, at 11:00 tonight,

you can see how it becomes cloudy in the overnight hours and as we head to tomorrow morning, we will see an increase in a few clouds, but we will wake up, i think, to cooler conditions. during the afternoon hours, here we are, as we start at 3:00, we have heavy rain starting to move in the north bay and by 5:00 or 6:00, it is moving to the heart of the bay and by 8:00, it is down in the south bay. during the evening commute, well see the rain on the increase. when we get beyond the initial system we will have light rain in the overnight hours and it becomes more showery in nature on wednesday and thursday. you will notice the high temperatures wednesday and thursday. we are stuck in the 50's. we will see an increasing sunshine on friday. the 60's are back on saturday. we will have a few 70's on sunday. did you know that abc7 news has another great weather research area for you on twitter for the very latest area weather
