dickey tells us what is in store. >> good morning, john and diana. tracking a large storm system that will drift its way east as we head through the day. two areas of heavy snow expected. today into tonight from chicago into the ohio valley. overnight through thursday night, some heavy snow across northern virginia into the mid-atlantic. accumulations through today, a stripe of 6 to 12 inches from the twin cities toward chicago. with heavy snow again in central and northern virginia through thursday morning. john and diana, back to you. >> our extreme weather team is tracking the storm's every move. they'll bring you the latest on "good morning america." new developments now on north korea's nuclear program. china, the north's closest ally, has joined the u.s. in agreeing to new sanctions over last month's nuclear test. the u.n. security council meets later today. secretary of state john kerry has tough words for iran over its nuclear program.

traveling in the region, he says time is running out for a peaceful solution. we'll hear more from him tonight on "world news." at the vatican, speculation is rising that the conclave to elect the next pope will begin as early as next monday. the church's cardinals are meeting there once again this morning. some of the cardinals from the u.s. say they're going to demand answers about the scandals inside the vatican before the conclave even begins. at the meeting yesterday, an imposter tried to get inside. there you see him. several parts of the outfit were not right, including the scarf. he was quickly busted and sent away. >> i prefer the red myself. another major new development in the ethics investigation of new jersey senator bob menendez. a woman who lives in the dominican republic said she had a video showing her having sex with mr. menendez now admits she was lying. she said she's never met

menendez and she was paid to make the claims against him. menendez says he's the victim of a smear campaign. the budget cuts across the nation. the head of homeland security warns that customs lines are getting much longer at the airports. republicans in the house are trying to reach deal that would protect the pentagon, the border patr patrol, and the fbi from those cuts. the faa is investigating reports of a drone flying near one of new york's biggest airports. it was said to have been five miles from jfk airport yesterday. the pilot of an alitalia flight was the first to report it. he was certain about what he saw up there. >> we saw a drone, a drone aircraft. >> roger, what altitude did you see that aircraft? >> about 1,500. >> the pilot didn't have to change course and landed safely. demolition crews near tampa have finally exposed that deep sinkhole that swallowed up a man and his entire bedroom. inspectors plan to survey the hole today to get a better idea

of now stabilize it. as abc's gio benitez reports, they're now dealing with another sinkhole nearby. >> reporter: this is our first look at the massive sinkhole that swallowed up 37-year-old jeff bush while sleeping in his bed. look closer. authorities tell abc news the sinkhole, about 30 feet wide and 100 feet deep, could well extend underneath the two neighboring homes. both less than 40 feet away. >> there is no one allowed in those homes. there will be a determination of if they're condemned in the coming weeks. >> reporter: crews used machinery to recover some of bush's personal items from his bedroom. carefully collecting his jacket and hat from the wall. but jeremy bush is frustrated that his brother remains buried in the rubble. >> they got this big equipment. why can't somebody be harnessed up on that equipment and try to rescue him? >> reporter: authorities say that's too dangerous. >> additional loss of life would have made this tragedy worse. >> reporter: that machine ending the demolition by sending flowers for mr. bush down into what is now his grave.

as crews fill the sinkhole with gravel to stabilize it, we have learned a new sinkhole has opened up in the same town. we're told it has not harmed anyone. gio benitez, abc news, seffner, florida. another sign of nature at its most extreme, a volcano in eastern russia has roared to life after laying low for more than three decades. red-hot lava running down the snow-covered mountain. ash shooting high in the air. scientists say the closest villages are not in danger. the volcano started erupting a few months ago for the first time since 1976. coming up, the youngest billionaire on the planet. and other surprises. from the new list of the world's richest people. a big change at starbucks today, doing something it hasn't done in 16 years. and mystery solved. 76 years later, scientists say they know what caused the deadly explosion aboard the "hindenburg." welcome back. 37 points and counting until a brand-new record. the dow jones industrial average opening this morning at 14,128 points. the second highest finish ever and very close to the all-time record, set in october 2007. analysts say it's retail investors pushing the market up, individuals, not institutions. the sale of ketchup maker h.j. heinz could result in a really big golden parachute. ceo william johnson will get more than, listen to this, $200 million if he's fired or pushed out. $56 million is a severance package. heinz stockholders still have to approve the purchase. that would take the company private. and watch for a new product

this year from apple called the iwatch. various reports say the next new product at apple stores may let you make calls, count how far you have walked, and monitor your heart rate at the same time. while there are other smart watches coming on the market, this could run apple software ios 6. that's always important. and starbucks this morning will unveil its first new core beverage in 16 years. it's a hazelnut macchiato. it's a four-layered drink. hazelnut is the second most popular flavor so it made sense. the hazelnut macchiato is available either hot or iced starting this very morning. you can see the big debut later on on "good morning america." >> pretty tasty. san mateo is 41. alameda and richmond district is at 47. we the talk about the rain and how much you will get in a few seconds. first, traffic. >> good morning, everyone. happy tuesday. we go to the bay bridge toll plaza. a couple of c.h.p. cars are blocking the lanes because of bridge maintenance work. the toll lanes will be shut down for another half an hour. we will follow it for you. traffic is very light. as you make your way to the span. this is walnut creek, southbound, 680 past the curve at north main moving nicely. otherwise, just road work out there. we will take you to the east bay where we have road work eastbound 580 from greenville to north flynn. that is blocking three lanes of traffic until 11:00 this morning. >> happening right now this morning the luxury yacht that was stolen and ran aground off pacifica is in a new place. abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, joins us from the marine yard.

>> the crews are towing it. if it was daylight we could see it moving across the bay on the way to richmond and is expected to get here the next 30 minutes. it has been a stressful experience for them to figure out how to get it moved. they started towing it admit night. super yacht was stuck at 5:15 yesterday morning off of the beach in pacifica. the keel was buried. it was a challenge to get the three people on board to surrender. police even had their guns drawn. the three people on board were accused of stealing the yacht from the sausalito yacht harbor. sailors are wondering, how does they pull it off? >> it is peculiar incident and certainly has everyone in the boating community excited and we are sorry for the owner of the boat. obviously.

it is not a common occurrence. >> here of the three people arrested. 63-year-old, a 54-year-old, and a woman, who was 56. police say the three had cases of beer on board and a pizza box. the boat owner says he does not know the people on board. they were able to salvage the boat. they will look at it when it arrives in richmond, and is due any minute between now and the next 30 minutes. check back with us and we will report back when we see it. >> we will do that, amy. the state supreme court today will consider reinstating a murder conviction in a domestic violence case after a man killed his girlfriend 13 years ago. he admitted stabbing the girl in front of her kids with the kitchen knife saying he did it because she abirthed his child. but the murder conviction was overturned in 2011 because of
