onto the lawns and came half a foot of wiping out or mobile home and vehicles. then i just heard commotion and smoke coming from the truck. >> reporter: within the last hour the truck was taken away. i'm told he is from vallejo but not identified yet. he will be looked at napa county department of corrections, evading officers, assault with a deadly weapon and stolen property. they found that stolen television in the pedestrian bed of his truck. >> katie: thank you. an oakland woman who was mugged after answering her front door is fighting back. the video showing her ordeal may be difficult to watch but oakland police are hoping it will inspire more victims to

come forward. alan wang shows us what happened. >> reporter: the woman in this video has no idea she is being targeted by two young men who don't realize they are being caught on camera. the robbers stole her purse on east 17th street in oakland. they were exposed by surveillance cameras and police arrested them. >> investigators released this video in hopes there might be other victims out there who have not come forward yet. >> reporter: we went back to the same block and found a woman who says her purse was stolen and she was pistol whipped on the same day within the same hour as the woman in the video. >> i'm so scared they'll kill me. >> we showed her video of suspects. >> that is him, i'm sure it is him. >> reporter: the woman reported the incident when it happened but she didn't realize that her

neighbor had been mugged. >> reporter: what do you think your neighborhood needs to do now? >> i'm not sure. >> reporter: would it help if you communicated and talked and got together? >> i think so. >> community involvement is paramount. >> chinatown is perfect example of a community mobilizing against crime. >> people should say, time to do something. >> reporter: police help them set up a crime prevention council and crime was cut down substantially. cameras were rolling for this victim but now police want neighbors to organize, communicate and cooperate with them. the reason being is police say the criminals are better organized than the pains in. in fact police say the two men they arrested are part of a gang that has been victimizing oakland residents for some time.

>> katie: a dozen members of local gangs were taken off the streets during pre-dawn raids yesterday morning. the operation spanned the entire bay area with the help of 14 other law enforcement agencies. they served 24 high risk search warrants, 20 of them in oakland, two in antioch, one in pacifica and one in brentwood. this video shows a remote controlled robot scouting some of the targeted locations. the results of the raid, there were 12 arrests of members of two of the city's most notorious gangs. police are looking for half a dozen more suspects. >> there were key people that we know were involved in violent crime. those were the people that we went after today. >> katie: in all month, an hundred members of law enforcement were involved in the

raids. new this morning, san jose has seen a spike in crimes like burglaries and car thefts. "mercury news" looked at crime stats. 28,000 property crimes were reported in 2012 and that is nearly 30% increase over 2011 and the highest figure since 1995. it is generally a reflection of statewide trends for more property crimes. san jose ranks fifth among biggest large cities. berkeley restaurant owner is hoping to be back in business after spending the night making repairs at chez panisse. an electrical fire was racing through the ground floor. john alston shows understanding the main upstairs dining room is still intact. >> reporter: instead of dleigtd the friday night dinner crowd.

tomorrow following wednesday's attack where a lion killed a woman. they denied rumors that he was on her cellphone when a lion pounced on her and killed her instantly. anderson said man on was following all the protocols. sheriff's deputies shot and killed the four-year-old lion. new this morning, construction crews are about to mark another milestone in the completion of the eastern span of the bay bridge. at 10:00 this morning, crews will pour concrete to create the final slab near the toll plaza. caltrans moved up the time line to allow both directions to open labor day weekend. original plans called for the westbound lanes to open first and then the eastbound lanes in 2014, but engineers came up with a way to complete the touchdown section for both directions nine months early. weather is not going to delay

protestors have set the soccer federation headquarters and a police building on fire. you can see the heavy black smoke over cairo. they are angry because a court acquitted seven of nine police officials that or trial on a deadly riot last year. the other two officers were convicted and sentenced to prison. the court confirmed the death sentences of 21 civilians who were involved in those riots which left 74 people dead. starting monday, san jose's minimum wage workers are getting a raise. increase will test claims it will be bad news for both business owners and employees. here is david louie. >> the boss hasn't said anything yet but he will get a pay raise. he works 40 hours a week. minimum wage will go up to $2 an

hour. the money will come in handy. >> food, school supplies, try to buy a car. >> other minimum wage earners are heeding the warning. >> it will be nice to have $2 extra but it will be interesting how everything pans out. >> reporter: they are wondering if their hours will be cut effectively taking away the increase. that is possibility as fourth street pizza tries to calculate the higher wage. it has 20 part time and full time employees. $2 more will raises expenses about $2500. places for pizzas and drinks have already been raised by 25 cents to a dollar to help cover the higher wage. >> some people get a little bit upset. >> i tip less as a result of that? >> i see people not tip at all. >> opponents warn that small businesses may be hurt.

we're not going to stop. there warmer days into next week and remember, to set your clock forward at 2:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. we're looking at temperatures just a little bit about average today. first column represents the average temperatures, second high temperatures. you'll notice upper 60s from san jose to livermore. that brings us up two to three degrees above average. we'll look for more warming, 2-4 degrees warming tomorrow. further on sunday and more on monday and tuesday. low pressure is out of the golden state. high pressure taking its place as it builds into the eastern pacific. that is allowing for a warming trend, still breezy winds at our coast and lighter winds and downsloping winds in the north bay. that is what happens when you get that clockwise motion and pressure on the atmosphere. we warm up quicker with 70 in sacramento. 63 in los angeles. around the bay, what a day from

>> katie: welcome back. we're second away from 8:30 and started you off with a quick look at the forecast. here is lisa argen. >> lisa: take a look. this is beautiful, 22 degrees in the northern sierra, pretty breezy here, about 71% for the average and we did pretty well with this last system. there is fresh powder. 35 for a high today. we'll be looking at our winds backing off today. that is because high pressure builds in. we will have breeze at the coast but the warming trend gets underway today. what you see it on your window is what you get, all that sunshine for the weekend with numbers in the 40s right now. we'll look for numbers around 70 in warmest locations. aisle explain and seven-day outlook coming up. >> katie: breaking news in the north bay where a police chase came to a conclusion. it begin with a robbery at a walmart. our reporter has been on the

scene in american canyon all morning joining us with details. >> as you said it all started with an armed robbery at walmart. this man stole a tv and then led police on a high-speed chase mentioned a quiet mobile home park. it was just after 4:00 a.m. and proceeded to drive through the yards of these two mobile homes feet away where people were sleeping. he tore through the front yard all before police got him. this is video you are looking from moments after the chase ended. he had rammed his truck in the back of one of the patrol cars. witness i spoke with was watching tv when he heard screaming coming down his street. he saw the suspect's truck headed straight for his neighbor's home. >> he is going to plow into their bedroom and that is where their heads are. the bed is up against that wall.

he could have killed him. >> reporter: fortunately no one was hurt. officers and neighbors are all okay. the suspect was taken to the hospital after officers tased him to get him into custody. he will be booked including murder and armed robbery. >> katie: dramatic stuff. thank you. new this morning, president obama says he remains focused on finding a way to replace the automatic spending cuts that took place on march 1st. he hopes to break the gridlock. in his weekly address the president says the nation's economy remains his top priority but willing to reach out to republicans to find common ground on immigration reform and gun control, as well. earlier this week i met with republican senators to see if there were smarter ways to grow our economy and reduce our deficits than to arbitrate cuts
