the supreme court hears the historic case on the heels of a huge march last night, the largest at castro and market street, the largest in years. we had video. you can seat marchers went through market street to the steps of city hall where we are now. the rallying cries of marchers were louder and several thousand joined the march, escorted by police. on the eve of today's hearing, this is the clear message to the woman cindy wants to marry. >> it is real deal. traditions are not just for straight people. i want to get married. i hope she says yes and the supreme court says yes. we will be there. >> two women from berkeley and two men from burbank are the couples bringing this case against prop 8 ban on same-sex marriage. one of their lawyers will have 20 minutes to, at the case against prop 8 and the attorney representing supporters of prop 8 will have 30 minutes to make their case. that is happening in washington,

but she is confident in the truth, so an appeals court must rehear the case against her and her italian ex-boyfriend. in 2011 they were acquitted in the death of 21-year-old which the prosecution said resulted from a drug fueled sex game. no timeline has been set for a new trial but if knox is convicted, italy could have her extradicted from the united states. >> a retired san francisco firefighter will try to convince the state to ban the flame retardant chemicals uses on household furniture and in baby products. the 27-year veteran believes those chemicals caused his cancer. he contract add rare form of the disease that he blames on repeated exposure to toxic smoke from the burning chemicals. today, he is leading the effort to get the ban and will deliver a petition with 55,000 signatures to state regulators considering changes to state home furnishing guidelines which allow the chemicals' use. >> i am feeling like i should

>> san rafael, south bay, pleasanton and all bay area, this is abc7 news. >> new this morning, an officer with the department of homeland security at sfo will be arraigned this morning on charge of possessing and distributing child pornography. the 37-year-old was arrested this month, authorities launched an investigation two years ago into allegations that he was sharing child porn. police searched his san francisco home and found more than 80 videos of chile pornography on a sophisticated computer. he was arrested while working at sfo's security check point for passengers from overseas flights. >> also new, a south bay preschool teacher accused of trying to drug toddlers in her care is scheduled for arraignment in morgan hill today. she was arrested this month on felony charges of child

endangerment. a fellow teacher at the school in morgan hill saw her putting something into some of the children's sippy cups that was an over-the-counter sleep aid. she has supervised nap times for children one and two years old. the kips were taken away before the kids could drink from them. >> a wreck stepped sex offer fender is in trouble with the law after a teenager says he followed her home. the 59-year-old alton watson is on parole for assault, and a again-year-old noticed a man following her and he was standing outside her home. the parents call police and officers located the man and identified him. he faces charges of molesting a child. >> san jose police are still trying to find the person who stole a car with a baby need. it triggers a state-wide amber alert. the 11-month-old gabriella quintera is home, safe, with her mother this morning after a frightening ordeal that lasted hours yesterday.

abc7 news reporter has the latest. >> graciela thanked the community. her daughter, gabriella quintera, was the subject of an amber alert and the baby was found. >> my baby is okay, thank god and i was happy to have her with me. i want to say to everyone, thank you, thank you. ought nightmare began at 6:45 am when graciela saw someone driving away with the baby in the jeep when she left the car running. investigators do not know who was behind the wheel but it could have been the same person standing in the area shortly before the vehicle was stolen. >> we don't know if that female got in the car or walked off or what happened but that is the last person seen near the vehicle before it was taken. >> san jose place lunched an intense search that briefly shut down highway 101 and involved a

>> i don't think i was writing software. i am sure i was not a millionaire. >> time for a check on the forecast. >> that is awesome. and more weather. >> it is interesting. here is a look at the peninsula in the south bay where you will notice around santa cruz, picking up a little bit of sprinkle activity as well as if san jose and on the peninsula, mist and drizzle and sfo has been reporting a little bit of light rain. as you head in this morning with all the clouds piling up along the coast, do not be surprised if you run into a few areas of sprinkles and you need your wipers. throughout the day, high temperaturesant bay under clouds and in the mid-60's. inland, it should be warmer toward concord and upper 60's but staying at the coast. we will see how it is in the mid-50's. heading out of town to the southland there are still clouds with mild temperatures and we could all see rain bit end of the week.

>> abc7 news starts right now with live breaking news. >> it is breaking news we first brought you at 4:30 this morning crews are on the scene of a fire in alameda burning right now. >> it broke out on park street near san jose avenue before 2:30. here is a look at the flames. they have destroyed part of a three-story building. it appears firefighters have the fire under control but you can see plenty of flames and smoke from moments ago, several people have been displaced by the fire. we do have a crew headed to the scene and we will bring you more when they arrive. >> on this tuesday morning, time for a check on the weather forecast. aa couple of things to talk about with lisa. >> good morning to you. starting out in the south bay along the peninsula, and the santa cruz mountains a few areas
