the family says they are moving out of the iron triangle. a man on a bicycle was also shot and expected to survive. >> developing news, san francisco police right now are investigating a shooting in the mission district. the victim, a man was taken to the hospital. his condition is not known at this hour. the shooting was reported just after 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of 24th and bryant streets. >> u.s. park police are investigating a shooting in the fort mason area last night that left a man wounded. victim who is in his 20s and from the east bay managed to make it to a restaurant to ask for help. he was taken to the hospital to be treated for a leg wound. national park service says it received calls from people that heard gunfire. so far, police don't have any suspects in custody. two people killed in fiery crash on interstate 80 in davis were from petaluma. the driver says he choked on

food and his hit three cars. the couple was remembered last night at buddhist temple. here is more from santa rosa. >> reporter: dozens of mourners gathered at the buddhist temple where 76 man and his 74-year-old wife worshipped almost daily. couple were more than parishioners. they founded the temple 11 years ago. the solos now unimaginable. >> i feel like his work is not done. there is more. he needs to be with us. >> the couple was killed thursday in a fiery crash near davis when a big rig lost control and crashed through the center guardrail hitting their bmw head-on. big rig driver claims he choked on some food and passed out at the wheel. a small flower and card was left at the couple's home in

petaluma. neighbors say they were kind and loving. >> he loved his church, helped the homeless. me loved people. >> he and his wife came from laos 30 years a ago and helped people navigate the immigration system. >> he knows how the system worked so he helped us on. >> she remembers a conversation as they were preparing to mourn a temple member. >> he was kidding with me like saying, oh, i wanted you to help me with my funeral, too. i said sure. but he said it's not going to come anytime soon. >> reporter: according to buddhist tradition, the funeral for the couple will last seven days. big rig driver who hit them is from fresno and dmv says he was caught driving on suspended license in 2009 and according to

his facebook page is a recovering substance abuser. he has not been cited in the accident. >> katie: a east bay family is saying final goodbye to a daughter they lost at military base shooting in virginia. a plane carrying her landed yesterday afternoon. sky7hd was overhead as group of military veterans escorted the body to her home in the oakley area. 19-year-old was one of two marines killed by an instructor in quantico, virginia. a navy seal killed in a training accident thursday was a member of the elite number that killed osama bin laden to years ago. he died after colliding with another navy seal midair at an air park in arizona. the others are in hospital. they say the sailor that died was a member of the team but

it's no clear if he took part in the raid that killed bin laden. >> ten bulldogs were saved last night in in a fire in concord. firefighters were called to the home around 6:30. they found a small fire and bunch of smoke and several bulldogs. flames came from a pot on the kitchen stove and flames were quickly put out. nobody was hurt and the dogs are fine. we're learning more this morning how college student lied about being raped suffered real injuries. he claimed he was raped last month on the campus. prosecutors now say she had placed ads on craigslist one asking for someone to shoot her in the arm. that didn't happen. the other looking for someone to punch her in exchange for sex. she has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charge of making a false police report. she has been ordered to continue mental health counseling. >> a small girl and young mother are alive and well today thanks to special training by the

flew the clouds and partly cloudy conditions in the north bay, as well. 50 in santa rosa. 56 in fairfield and 55 in los gatos. here is what you can expect for today. a lot of folks have easter egg hunt plans, clouds in the morning, shower chances mainly tonight. it looks pretty dry through the day and then wet unfortunately for easter sunday. here is a look at pacific satellite image, area of low pressure heading towards the bay area very slowly. it's going bring us some moisture and here is how the timing plays out. the models show clear conditions by this afternoon. that is good news if you are heading to the coliseum. chances less likely in the afternoon of showers and 9:00 this evening is when we could see the possibility of light rain along the coast. then the showers spread overnight tomorrow morning. heavier rain closer to sacramento. liet showers throughout the day

and even some heavy rain at times into the afternoon. lunchtime, now we're seeing a bit of a break around parts of the bay area. shower chances continue throughout the day on sunday and then on sunday evening the system moves east and we have a clearer started on monday. most areas only getting anywhere from tenth to half an inch. temperatures today will be a few degrees cooler because of the increasing clouds. instead of the upper 70s we saw yesterday, 71 san francisco, 65 and 68 in oakland. 70 in san jose. you do want to have wet weather gear handy today but you probably won't need it if you are heading to the coliseum, 1:05 today, temperatures will be right near 65 degrees. tonight with the increasing clouds and rain moving in from the storm, temperatures will be mild.

mid-50s. this afternoon with the increasing clouds it will be cooler than yesterday starting at up to 70 degrees. then chance of showers mainly tonight, temperatures dropping down to the mid-50s to low 60s. it does looks like it will hold off for most of the day. i'll let you know when you can expect rain in your neighborhood. >> katie: thank you. it was 40 years ago that u.s. troops came home from vietnam. veterans in san jose are now marking the occasion by ulg unveiling a new war memorial honoring local troops. keira is live down in san jose and ceremony is just a few hours away. >> zbloor that is right. at noon this monument behind me will be unveiled. it's called the sons of san jose and honors the local soldiers,

142 men who were born and raised right here in san jose. we have video from a few weeks ago before the shroud was put on. it stands six feet tall and 13 feet long. the names of the 142 soldiers lost their lives in vietnam are etched in black granite and one is still missing in action. the group behind the monument built it so veterans and families will know that their sacrifices will not be forgotten. >> the guys who came back from vietnam war were not need the way they are today. we want to make sure they get that recognition, that people understand that the men who went to fight and women and went to fight in that war did so for their country. >> volunteers raised more than $75,000 for the sons of san jose monument. they designed and built it. it will be officially dedicated in a special ceremony today.

canada to gulf coast refineries. the project would create tens of thousands of jobs. administration is considering whether or not to approve it. you've seen video of devastating tsunamis like this one that hit japan two years ago. experts say it's only a matter of time before a big one hits california. today is last day of tsunami awareness week and this morning at 10:00, san francisco residents and emergency management officials will walk along the city's evacuation route. in this report, abc7 morning meteorologist mike nicco tells us about the round the clock watch for the one that could be coming our way. >> tsunamis in the south pacific and japan have shown us the destruction that can come from powerful earthquakes in the ocean. buildings ripped from their foundations and fall into sea. hundreds of thousands dead. survivors left with no place to go. tsunamis don't just happen in the far pacific.

they happen here, too. in 1964 a devastating tsunami struck crescent city without warning. almost 50 years later, another one hit the same harbor. this time locals new knew it was coming. >> what the center does it monitors all the earthquakes on the planet 24/7 and it issues tsunami warnings if an earthquake magnitude warrants concern. >> they analyze the earthquakes and collects data to see if a tsunami is heading our way. >> so california could easily experience a damaging local tsunami with anything in the 7 above. this is from the pacific rim including the alaska trench, japan, russia, south pacific, chile even. >> the threat is real. this map shows what could happen if a tsunami hit the bay area. airports may have to close. ports will be shut down. homes will have to be evacuated.

inland streams and rivers may flood. in 2011, santa cruz harbor was warned about the japanese tsunami. that saved lives but did not prevent damage. even larger tsunami could devastate the heart of this beach down toun. >> some of the modeling specifically for santa cruz indicates the maximum height of a tsunami could possibly be 25-30 feet. >> logan is with the national weather service in monterey. this office is responsible for relaying warnings to the bay area. >> we are looking to the time of issuing a warning of ten minutes or less. [ siren ] >> air sirens will sound and like many low lying cities, signs will warn how to get away from them. >> the reason we do the planning for it. >> san francisco could be hit by a tsunami on three sides, from ocean beach, from crissy field

and marina district. so for that reason they review their tsunami plan every year. >> you can plan for it all the time, and nature will still blow that completely out of the water. >> katie: several things you can do to protect yourself from a tsunami. for more on that and to find out what the tsunami threat is where you live, go to abc7news.com and look under see it on tv. we have posted some helpful maps there. new this morning, more than 180 volunteers will go balt today for a good cause. they are hosting a head shaving event with the goal of raising $250,000 for the foundation. foundation is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. the head shavings started at 11:00 this morning at the hospital on 52nd street.

>> katie: good morning to you, it's 8:40. you are looking live at san jose where it is 55 degrees. you can see partly sunny but that is not going to be the case all day. some easter activity is going on in san jose. rain comes tomorrow at 10:00. you got an easter egg hunt at discovery meadow and also a carnival at peter burnett middle school. more coming up in just a little bit. >> let's switch gears over to oakland where police have complained their radios have not worked properly. now, we know why. we have learned that an independent reported confirms that cell tons are the culprit. vic lee has the story you will only see on "abc 7 news." >> the problems voluntary surrounding the police radios were magnified last july the day that president obama appeared at

oakland's fox theater. a large contingent of police were outside to handle protestors. many of the officers said they had trouble communicating on their two way radios. there have been numerous complaints before about the glitches of new radio system that had been installed the year before. it had been riddled with interference and glitches right from the start. barry heads the police officers association. >> they basically use the mic and it doesn't work for a variety of reasons. >> reporter: this report confirms what an internal investigation found a month ago after the president's visit. cell sites were affecting the radio system that their systems were bleeding into radio channels. 43 cell sites have been tested and have of them were resolved. most were at&t's towers.

he says communications may have improved but the officers still have no confidence in the system. there was another failure wednesday night. >> once again, the system went down specifically on the eastern end of our city. the system wasn't working a few minutes again. >> reporter: city councilmember is encouraged that there has been progress. >> system is working better than it was before but the fact we are having failures of this magnitude is not acceptable. >> reporter: this memo says overall reports of trouble dropped 895% after many of the cell towers were modified. poa and councilmember believe that oakland ought to look into the regional radio system that contra costa and alameda counties use. >> katie: it's 8:43 and frances dinglasan.

shower chances mainly tonight later on. unfortunately still wet for easter sunday. here is a look at pacific satellite image. area of low pressure slowly moving right towards the bay area. the timing of rain not so great, but 'if you do have easter egg hunts today. latest model we're seeing less cloud cover this afternoon. if you are heading to the coliseum, mostly dry right now. then tonight at 9:00, some light rain showers hitting parts of san mateo coastguard and monterey bay. most of the rain the bulk of it will come in sunday morning, overnight hours throughout the day on sunday into the afternoon. so we'll see widespread scattered showers and rain and possibility of a thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening is when things start to clear out. by 11:00 we'll be under cloud cover but most of rain will be gone by the bay area.

by the end of it, we're not talking a lot of rain, most areas a tenth of an inch up to three-quarters of an inch in the north bay and half an inch in the central and south bay. today temperatures will be cooler compared to yesterday's beautiful sunny conditions. we'll drop down a few degrees. 65 in san francisco. 67 in san mateo. that rain much later on, 70 in san jose. if you are headed to the coliseum, have your weather gear handy because chance of showers possible but less likely at this point. temperatures right around 65 degrees. then for tonight, mild numbers with increasing clouds. temperatures in the upper 50s to mid-50s around the bay area. here is accu-weather seven-day forecast -- rain chances, shower chances much later on. good news for a lot of the folks. you are going to do the easter egg hunt, possibility of thunder
