>> grabbed something, in his hand so we were telling everybody, might have a gun, get out of here, and people were just running. reporter: he apparently had a car club in his hand. that quinton harris saw hi start to swing. >> everybody coming close. >> several customers ended his rampage. >> the police did not have to use force but sounds like the onlookers might have used force. >> ama: the news -- now to -- go ahead, sergio, you have what happened outside. reporter: this whole bizarre story started when witnesses say a red car sped on to this lot, and before the driver crashed into the front door there of the wal-mart store, they say the driver sped around this parking lot several times, and then even crashed into a couple cars. >> i was waiting to turn into this aisle, and he hit me. and made another round, and hit

the stuff he knocked off the car. made another round, made another round. so it's really a blessing that pedestrians did not get hurt. reporter: witness says the driver was gunning the engine of the car in the parking lot. people estimated he may have reached speeds of 40 miles-per-hour. we talked with one wal-mart worker who asked us not to reveal his identity. he said he and other workers tried to warn pedestrians trying to go shopping. >> swerving, trying to hit people. like this. me and my employees were telling everybody, get out of the way! this guy i trying to hit people. reporter: again, as the witnesses described the driver was speeding and swerving. still no pedestrians were hit. no one outside injured. reporting live in san jose, sergio quintana, abc7 news. >> ama: we'll continue to follow this developing story, and give you more what we know about the driveway at 11:00.

>> easter sucks has been punk weighted by shoot has -- shootings in the bay area. one was in the bay view district. a juvenile male was wounded in the foot. two cars were struck by stray bullets. in oakland, what police believe was a drive-by shooting resulted in the death of a man this morning. witnesses alerted officers to a shooting on 68th avenue. upon arrival police found map suffering from a gunshot wound. he died at a local hospital. a white granddam was -- grand-am was seen leaving the scene. >> following up on a story from last night, one man is dead and a sheriff's deputy wounded. it was just after 9:00 when deputies stopped the car. the passenger was arrested for drug possession but the driver refused to get out of the car. >> deputy went inside the car to undo the seatbelt, and the

driver put the car in driver and took off, with himself and the deputy also in the car. >> ama: sky 7hd was over the scene today. deputies fired at the driver, hitting him multiple times. he tied -- died at the hospital. firefighters kept the fire from spreading to nearby homes at if damaged a house in berkeley this afternoon. sky 7hd shows crews mopping if after flames raced through a home a few blocks west of downtown berkeley. the fire started around 2:30 p.m. nobody was hurt. investigators are trying to figure out what sparked the fire. we have breaking news out of san francisco tonight. members of the city's symphony have reached a tentative agreement to end the strike. the administration and musicians have agreed on a 26-month contract, subject to ratification by the full orchestra and approval by the board of governors. the strike began 19 days ago

>> ama: community-wide events brought people together in san francisco this easter sunday, and that's the celebration started before the sun was even up. ♪. reporter: the easter sunrise service ter mt. davidson cross began with bagpipes and continued with song and prayer. 300 people made the trek to san francisco's highest peak. they gathered at the foot of what's being called america's largest cross. >> a wonderful time of worship, everyone coming together with other churches. >> right here in the neighborhood. this means a lot to people, and the spiritual seguance, seguance,-diggance, hope and forgiveness. >> the sunrise service attracts new guests and return visitors. one of those is eileen who grew up just down the hill from

crowded st. peter's square from around the world as pope francis celebrated the first easter mass of his papacy. he broke with tradition and didn't read the lead of greetings in 65 languages. after the service he moved among the people in an open car, waving and kissing babies. >> it's been an interesting day weather-wise. abc7 newssee viewers have been send michigan pictures. this is vallejo. even hail came down. let's going to meteorologist. >> leigh: expleeg the forecast. >> leigh: we still have more showers developing off the coast, and those will be wrapping themselves into inland locations over night. you can see it start are to touch point reyes, the yell lows -- yellows denoting moderate rain. we're going to take you up towards the -- near woodland and dixon, sacramento, fairfield, they have been clobbered the

last hour with heavy rain. that's starting to exit towards the north. clear lake as well, moderate rain, and santa rosa, towards petaluma, much of the north bay dry, but you can see the batch of showers rapidly racing towards the coast, and we'll start a second towards novato and santa rosa in the next 30 minutes. i want to point out this thunderstorm cell a little to the north of tracy. this is moving to the north and west and could move into the brentwood area and antioch in the next 25 minutes. numerous lightning strike. a very great slate sky, low clouds. temperatures right now generally in the mid-to-low 60s. san francisco, 60. 55 in half moon bay. here's another look over the bay from our high definition east bay cam. low clouds there as well. napa, 61. 62 in livermore. rainfall totals, quite impressive.

a half inch of rain in fairfield. over half inch of rain in the past 24 hours in santa rosa,. you're going to see a little bit more this evening. we'll keep showers, maybe an isolated thunderstorm in the overnight forecast. clearing for monday and then dry and warmer as we head into tuesday and wednesday. here's a look at the cutoff low continuing to move toward the bay area. this is that next batch of showers sitting just off the coast, and this is what is going to move in here this evening. here's our time frame; by 10:00 the batch will start to move inland, and then overnight we'll see showers start to fall apart a bit. decrease. this is 5:00 tomorrow morning, but monday morning commute hour. and you can see a few lingering showers. but by 2:00, 3:00 tomorrow afternoon, looks like the low has kicked out and we'll start to see drying. so at least for tonight, overnight temperatures, upper 40s to mid-050s, and we'll

continue to keep the showers in the forecast. here's a look at our highs for monday. much like today, remember, maybe a few morning showers. san jose, 67 tomorrow. 65 for redwood city. san francisco, 62. north bay, keep numbers pretty much in the mid-to-upper 60s. santa rosa, 68. 55 for oakland, and we'll look for 68 for brentwood and 67 for concord. the seven-day forecast, we'll start to dry things out tuesday and wednesday, back up into the 70s. rain likely for thursday, and then a little unsettled for our saturday and sunday. and follow at live doppler 7hd on twitter for the latest weather information. power outage information and weather tweets from your fav lit -- favorite weather team. >> ama: colin rush is in for shu.
