investigating a second shooting insolving an officer in the last three days, police spokesman says officers were responding to a burglary when confronting two armed men. one had a knife, another had what appeared to be a gun. the man on the firearm shot by police in the shooter and officers litter determine that had gun was fake another one was armed with a real knife. yes. >> police say the wounded man had a history of home burglaries. wednesday, police shot and grazed a teenager on the jaw. determining the teen was innocent. >> also tonight a set back in the murder of an off duty paramedic. a witness is not as strong as they'd hoped. quinn boyer shot tuesday morning.

abc 7 news is live in police quarter was the investigation. >> latest is that police have leads but not a lot. so investigators are doing everything to find new leads, they're leaning on confidential informants on the streets looking for new witnesses and are hoping for luck was tests. dave keser lives in the neighborhood facing keller drive. just across the street where quinn boyer was shot tuesday. he says there have been a rash of violent home invasions in his community. there are some home invasions where he wr they injured owners and pistol whipped them, things like that. >> keller avenue feeds into interstate 580. >> you can get down the road and be on 580 that way or this way. >> residents believe the highway has become a

convenient route for predators. one theory is that boyer may have been the victim of a robbery attempt shot near the stop sign about noon, tuesday. the killers were in another car. you have it was a brazen act. >> we believe the suspect approached our skprim shot inside of the vehicle. >> the casings images will be entered into a national data base to see if there is a match with a cartridge from another crime. if so, police may be able to determine who fired the gun. police did find an elderly woman in the area, but says that witness was of little help. >> the witness there provided limited information and didn't get to see what happened before. it's limited. >> witness did tell police the

threatening to kill deputies when stopped in sonoma county. the driver managed to get away. police add the man is wanted on burglary and robbery charges in calistoga and santa cruz. san francisco police hoping they can figure out who stole a parked cab this morning but looking at dash cam video. this was stolen this morning. he ditched the cab near san francisco state university and ran away. >> developing news in san jose. police have an apartment complex surrounded as they look for a man who robbed a bank today. police say a man got away with an unknown amount of cash.

president obama apologized to california's attorney general for remarks made during a bay area fund-raiser said you have to be careful to say she's brilliant and dedicated and she's tough then goes ton say she happens to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the country. well, today, the white house says the president called harris to apologize for the comment and distraction it's caused. >> he did not want to diminish the attorney general's professional accomplishments and i note that he called her in those same comments brilliant, dedicated and tough. >> this is video from a previous visit to san francisco. that is harris greeting him at the airport. the white house says the two are old friends and says the

president says women should not be judged by their appearance. >> the head of oakland schools has resigned, tony smith said he'll leave for family reasons and move to chicago. abc 7 news has more. through a let yes, tony smith explained his father-in-law is in poor health. they will move to chicago to be closer to the family. he told school board members last night. >> he is not leaving for another job and in fact, he has when moving there he has no job and lrb will be unemployed. >> during that time, he cut spending and managed to get rid of a $40 million deficit. he and the board came up with a plan to broaden the needs of oakland students by agd health centers at some schools. they call it a full service

community school district. many parents liked it i think besides just education, textbook, academic i think we should explore areas outside of the classroom. >> we're not looking for someone that wants to do a planning process over againful or take us down a different path. >> but like many superintendents his relationship with the teacher union was rocky. three years ago he recommended and the board voted to impose a contract on teachers. union members aren't surprised he resigned. according to american association of school administrators the average tenure of urban superintendents is just over three years. >> there is prush on -- pressure expectations are very hichl resources not as high as they could. >> wednesday, april 10th the board will discuss his resignation, the last day will be june 30th. in oakland abc 7 news.

temperatures 61 in santa rosa. and these are the forecast features. we can expect cloudy conditions overnight. and spotty showers are possible again sunday. and let's take a look at game time conditions tomorrow. giants take on st. louis cardinals game time tomorrow afternoon. we'll have clouds around, possible sprinkle or two. it should be mainly dry for the game. a movement of systems over 12 hours, clouds pushing through. we're aware up to the north. the moisture could produce sprinkles tonight. and not rainfall expected tonight but there is an unsettled pattern out to sea.

a controversial decision a judge ruled girls 16 and younger no longer need a prescription for the morning after birth control pill. until now plan b has been kept behind the pharmacy counter as a safeguard. a decision in 2009 by kathleen sabilius requires girls 17 and younger to have a pefr skripgs. people can get quicker access to a very good method of preventing unintended pregnancy without having to go through unnecessary hoops. problem here in the united states is that these teams are going to be avoigd medical screenings by doctors so these stds and any increase stds a result of increased sexual behavior are going to go unidentified and untreated. >> the ruling will go into affect within 30 days opponents say they hope fda will appeal the decision.
