that. should wrap up by 5:00 a.m. on monday. then, following weekend affecting fast track only lanes. >> we continue to follow breaking news out of suburb an atlanta on that firefighter hostage situation. a police s.w.a.t. team shot and killed a gunman holding four firefighters against their will. one officer was shot in the hand. and has been taken to the hospital. police say they had in choice but to go in. >> the lives of the firefighters got a point we believe their lives were in danger. and our s.w.a.t. team made the decision to go in there. >> a terrifying situation. the four firefighters held hostage are okay. officials say they slightly injured.

five firefighters being held captive. police are on the lookout for two armed robbers. they released video showing the pair walking into the grocery outlet on east 14th. this january, they pulled a gun on a clerk demanding money. it was frightening for employees and customers there. >> they were found they hit the floor. some were trying -- crying and they froze up. customers running into the back out of the doors to the emergency exists. >> suspects connected to seven robberies there is a $20,000 reward ta help track them down. >> police searching for an injured armed robber. they say it could be a case of life or death. the robber held up a happy doughnuts and a struggle broke out during that crime. the robber shot an employee

managing to police think the robber could have been injured and could die in f.not treated. anyone with information is asked to give police a call. >> a big bipartisan break through on capitol hill in washington tonight on the devicive issue of gun control. under an agreement background checks would be expanded to include commercial sales at gun shows and online. in an emotional plea michelle obama called on the senate to pass other me shufrs as well. evoking a memory of a chicago teenager who was shot and killed a week after pefsh yompling at her husband's inauguration. >> the family was just like my family. she was me and i was her.

>> national rifle association said expanlding background checks at gun shows will not prevent the next shooting. >> the governor and first lady have offered condolences to the family of a soldier killed in afghanistan. the 26-year-old died after an attack saturday in the zaboa provence, governor brown says he bravely gave his life in service of state and nation. he ordered flags held at half staff at the capitol today. >> today thousands of americans marching for immigration reform part of the national day of action. a few dozen people rallying near the capitol carried signs in the hope of shaping immigration debate. they want to create a path to citizenship for immigrants living in the united states illegal.

the march is taking place in the commission district tonight. >> that is right. we're in front of the federal building here. as you know, california has largest number of immigrants in the nation so marchers participating in this rally know what's happening right now in the nation's capital will have an impact in california so marchers went down market street and some carried a paper flower in their hands representing acording to them, 1,000 people deported from the u.s. every day. in washington a bipartisan group of eight senators refered to as gang of 8 was putting finishing touches on a comprehensive immigration reform plan. we're told some agreement has been reached including a guest worker program they can live with. >> calling for immigration reform including everyone who is here and that has plans for this the future that doesn't just put more border patrol

agents at the border. >> some say in order to succeed it cannot be rushed. several senators including republican senator john mccain said immigration reform only will work if the border is secured. >> no one believes apprehensions are the answer then what is the answer? in order for congress to make a judgment? >> and this immigration reform bill affect skpekted to be unveiled tomorrow, then off to committee hearings. we don't know when that will be. marchers maitd their way to the federal building but this is where senator feinstein's offices are. she's been instrumental in these negotiations.

a federal judge ruled san francisco police were justified in shooting a man in a wheelchair two years ago this, is cell phone the incident shows who officers firing at randall dunkin after slashing an officer in the shoulder. the officers say he continued to be a threat after they fired a bean bag at him. he was file aid civil suit against police. the judge didn't buy it. his attorney is outraged. >> if this shooting is on videotape appearing outragis if a person can claim self-defense the person is protected by the law. >> he plans to appeal the ruling to the 9th circuit court of appeal autos the ride

a popular online education program offered at san jose state being expanded. lieutenant governor launched signed a remember rand yum expanding the program. it was developed by harvard and m.i.t.to offer courses at no charge. san jose state plans to add five new online courses in the fall and going to establish a trained staff member to use that system. >> thousands of people in the east bay getting a head start on earth day. earth expo sustainibility fair
