>> perts are pouring over the forensic evidence looking for clues of the explosive devices. president obama spoke again this morning. >> if you want to know who we are, what america is, how we spend to evil, that is it: selflessly, compassionately, unafraid. >> authorities spend the night in a residence near the airport and they have been having conversation with a saudi man who is considered a "person of interest" but so far, still, no suspect. >> thank you. we want to add, new reports say the explosives were a pressure cooker packed with nails and other fragments, and this is from our reporter and the crew in boston. the memorial is growing at the finish line of the marathon and armed officers patrol the streets with tanks. the street between the two blast

sites is barricaded and it is a bit of a tourist attraction with hundreds of people showing up to see what is going on. beyond the barricades, the street is filled with trash and debris. normally it would be cleaned but it is left for investigators to sort through because they dope want to overlook any part of key evidence that could lead them to the bomber. >> the youngest bombing victims is from here in the bay area, the 11-year-old boy from martin martinez just watched his mother finish the race and now he is in intensive care. we are live at the high school where fellow students taking action to help. >> they are. they are mindful of the overall tragedy of what happened in boston and those who lost their life. you can see out here they have the flags at half staff at martinez junior while. inside, they are thing about and talking about their classmate. >> the 11-year-old will not run to school any time soon.

his mom said on her facebook page he still needs about seven to ten days in the hospital. the administration and parents at martinez junior hire are doing their best to comfort his classmates. >> he said that he is sad and my nephew is good friends with him and three was very upset so the kids are having a hard time with it. as are the parents. >> he was waiting for his mom to finish the week when the bomb when off. shrapnel has piercedly eye and hip and leg. he has had surgery. a team is on campus and the administration is doing what they can to spread the word. we sent out an all call to parents to let folks know because there are so many who know the family in many ways. allen is our high school varsity football coach. they are very much part of the fabric of this community. >> the students are pulling together to support the family

all the way down to the clothing. we noticed a lot of purple on campus today. >> everyone in the class will be wearing purple for him and they have already started to contact each other by facebook and internet, all this stuff that is going on. >> the home room teachers have brain stormed with classes to for ways to show support including raising money to help them pay for the extended pay in boston a video of students wishing him well. >> he is such an important part of our community we want to all show our support. >> here is at children's hospital with his mom, dad and little sister is there in boston. on his mom's facebook page he is said to be in stable condition and the birth state is coming up in a couple of weeks, and he will be turning 12. >> developing news, more people are coming home from boston

following the bomb disaster and the first flight arrived in the past hour. abc7 news talked with the runners and families and joins us from sfo. >> that was united 2041 from boston, logan airport, to sfo landing 20 minutes late. by one estimate, half the people on the plane either ran in the marathon or were spectators. one woman told me it was the quietest flight she has ever been on with many lost in their thoughts of the bombing, the people who suffered the most, the dead and wounded. we talked with a bay area woman who crossed the finish line an hour before the blast and another who decided to skip the finish line this year. >> we saw what was, what happened and it was heartbreaking. i could not wait to get home and hug my friends. >> we had a lot of people who ran and went to support and it was chaos getting in touch with everyone to make sure everyone

was okay. >> it was frightening on many levels. a woman's brother was on race and was pace to be in the finish line at four hour when the explosion went off and because all of the cell phone towers were jammed it took hours to find out any information about this woman's brother. it turns out he was okay but a lot of people are sometime shaken by it. >> thank you, eric. we have new video, bomb sniffing dogs outside san francisco's city hall. thing dos are checking crash cans and searching cars and authorities are on heightened alert following the boston bombings. security has been tightened at all major landmarks in the bay area including the golden gate bridge. passengers should expect to see more security on trains and platforms. we will bring you continuing coverage of the boston bombings and our reporter is in boston.

we saw some of her video already and her live reports will begin later today here on abc 7 and she will tweet updates. we have a slide show of the bombing aftermath on our website at abc7news.com. >> the california independent system operator is urging residents and businesses in santa clara county to conserve electricity. officials say vandals fired gunshots into pg&e substation overnight and that action damaged transformers and caused an oil league. crews cleaned up the mess while they looked into the vandalism. fiber optic lines were cut, so some cell service and land lines and 9-1-1 systems went down. investigators are looking into a possible connection but they cannot get into investigate or repair the lines until the oil is cleaned up. people in the area teen south san jose and gilroy are

affected. no word, yet, on when the service will be restored. >> a deadly night for san jose firefighters. at least four people were killed in three separate fires. a 15-year-old girl was killed in a house fire. the child's grandmother has identified her as mariah gomez. this is a picture of her. she was sleeping when the fire broke out at 11:30 last night, and it happened in a detached unit behind a house on north fifth street near jackson. her grandmother says she cannot believe her beautiful granddaughter is gone. >> she was a good little girl. she was everything to me. >> her four-year-old sister and a man escaped. they are both recovering. investigators are trying to figure in a back unit had working smoke detectors. >> a man died following another smoke fire in san jose that broke out at his home shortly

before 1:00 o'clock this morning. investigators say the victim fell and suffered a heart attack. >> we have new details this morning and a third deadly fire in san jose. this one broke out at 8:30 last night. officials now say that it claimed the lives of two, an elderly woman was pulled from the home but she died and a man whose body was found inside. no word on the identity of either victim. >> still to come on abc7 news the teenage suspects in the saratoga sexual battery case of audrie pott go to court. we will have a live report on what they are expected to ask the judge. >> find out what triggered a wild police chase through the streets of san francisco which

the three juvenile suspects accused of the sexual battery of a teen girl in san jose are hoping to be released in the case of 15-year-old audrie pott who submitted suicide after images of what happened appeared in social media. our news reporter joins us with the latest. >> the hearing is still going on at juvenile court where a judge may decide if three, 16-year-old boys charged with sexual assault can be released in the custody of their parents or remain locked up. the family of 15-year-old audrie pott arrived for the hearing this morning with their attorneys. the family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the boys

on monday. last september audrey went to an unsupervised house party where she drank too much alcohol and passed out. when she woke she realized she had been sexually assaulted and the attackers took pictures which were texted to others at saratoga high school. she was devastate asked took her life days later. besides deciding on custody they may decide whether the three teens could be charged as adults but that decision is not expected to happen for another couple of weeks. we are live in san francisco for abc7 news. >> thank you, cornell. mike nicco has a calmer forecast? >> still some wind in select areas but we will look outside and open up the weather window. it is calmer on mount tamalpais than this time yesterday. let me throw some numbers at you, temperatures six to eight degrees warmer than yesterday, put us in the 60's and 70's and 80's in the seven-day forecast. >> also ahead, a local girl

and all the bay area this is abc7 news. >> happening now, funeral services are underway for a south bay paramedic murdered in oakland. quinn boyer was shot to death driving in the oakland hills this month by someone in another car. police recovered his car in a ravine but not made any arrests. the local mayor is among the mourners at the church service for the 34-year-old. >> san francisco police are questioning half a dozen people after someone shot at an undercover police car. the investigators detained eight people at 1:00 o'clock this morning. the incident began as a chase in the hunter's point area. according to police an undercover officer drove by a group of suspicious people and three cars. investigators say someone shot at the unmarked police car as it made a u-turn. police did not shoot back. no one was injured. >> mike nicco, our meteorologist, is here. winds? more damage? >> a few trees are down.

craft on the water from 1:00 o'clock until 9:00. now, what is going on as far as the winds, they are fastest in concord at 21 and fairfield is 31 in that wind advisory. and napa is 24 gusting to 16 in novato and 15 at sfo and 14 in oakland and 22 at half moon bay so they are slower than yesterday. it is breezy and warmer today. clear and chilly tonight up north, especially, and a dry and warm weekend is on the way. beautiful picture from the east bay hill with a high definition shot and how clean the air is. 59 in san francisco and oakland and 56 right now in san jose and walnut creek at 64, and palo alto 59 and mill valley is the warm spot at 66. you can see how calm the bay water is with a small craft advisory starting in an hour and 40 minutes. temperatures are near 60 everywhere, santa rosa, concord, gilroy, and loss get. high pressure is rolling in. that sinking air is a calming

influence on the forecast and each day it will not be so breezy at the day before or as cool as we modify the air mass with 13 hours of sunshine. upper 60's in the south bay and san jose at 68. we will have mid-to-upper 60's on the peninsula and still brick at the coast, mid-to-upper 50's for you and low-to-mid 60's in downtown and south san francisco and mid-to-upper 60's through the north bay valleys with mid-50's at your beaches and you can see 68 at oakland a warm spot on the east bay shore and mid-to-upper 60's, and not so breezy in the east bay valley and warmer and temperatures in the upper 60's for you. it will not be so cool tonight as last night but you will need a jacket and first pitch is at 7:05 and drop down to 53 degrees by 10:00. check how low our temperatures are in the north bay valley, mid-30's up here and 39 in vallejo, livermore, and morgan hill if the school spot and everyone else is in the low do mid-40's tomorrow morning. starting out tomorrow we are in the 70's away from the coast,
