>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> the breaking news is the san jose police arrest two juvenile following this destructive accident after a car rammed into a san jose home, injures a hour and her daughter the result of teens engaging in illegal and potentially deadly street racing. good morning, police just wrapped up a news conference saying that juveniles remain arrested for reckless driving and high speed. neighbors say this is just the latest incident. this crash happened on lee avenue around the corner from lee high school. abc7 news reporter amy

hollyfield is at the scene in west san jose. amy? >> news comes as a relief to people who live here. they want something done. a woman told us she has seen the drivers before speeding and driving out of space control. neighbors are devastating this happened, of course. there are some flowers a woman just left for the family for when they are able to return to the home. devastated here, yes, but they say they are not surprised. >> people living on or near lee avenue in san jose say it was a matter of "when" a terrible accident would happen here. we have eastbound drag racing. they have been doing doughnuts here in the intersection if years. >> a mother is in critical condition after being hit in her car while standing in her kitchen. her nine-year-old daughter was also hit and was also taken to the hospital. witnesses say they believe two cars were racing yesterday afternoon when they crashed. one in the yard, the other in

the home. police say two juveniles. arrested for reckless driving and driving at a high speed. they were released to their parents. the wreck happened down the secret from lee high school. >> they should put a light here and major speed bumps because the kids come out of high school at 2:00 or 2:30 and they have this energy and they take it on the street when they get out with this main drag. >> he has lived here 53 years and says this is not a new problem. he can remember meetings 20 years ago about trying to stop the speeding. >> we have had problems all the time. >> what are they doing? >> a race way. >> the fire department boarded up the home this morning and neighbors keep stopping by. shaking their heads and hoping that the family will recover and that something will be done. >> hopefully it will rattle the san jose people that make the

the new chief and lays out a plan to keep police officers from leaving by providing incentives to stay. the plan calls for a new neighborhood watch strategy that allows residents to connect unisonal media with police and with each other. >> breaking news in the boston marathon bombings investigation, new information that the suspects were also planning an attack on new york city. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has the latest from the newsroom. >> in new york city the mayor and the police commissioner are in the middle of a news conference, they have wrapped up their remarks and faking questions, talking about the breaking development. officials telling abc7 news that the brothers planned to drive to new york on thursday to explode the remaining bomb. congressman peter king of new york tells cnn the target was times square. it did not happen. they say that is because the owner of the vehicle they carjacks on thursday managed to escape. we have learned that the

8:45 blocks from children's hot. there is a small memorial made up of teddy bears at the crime scene, the victim was 21 years old from san leandro. her child was present when police arrived and they have some information on the suspect but they have not released it publicly. this is the city's 31st homicide of the year. >> this afternoon, two sisters accused of abusing children at a daycare center are set to make the first court appearance. the 35-year-old and the 33-year-old face three counts each of felony child abuse and neglect. the children are under one years. police say they uncovered evidence of dangerous swaddleing methods at the universal preschool including being bound so fightly they could not move or breathe. the women are being held in the alameda county jail. >> we are getting our first look at big machine that will tunnel under san francisco for the new central subway project and it

will run from the caltrain station at 4th and giant to china town and we will look at the massive machine. >> the first two pieces of this giant boring machine have just arrived here. this will be a staging area until it is lowered into the ground where it will be assembled into one of the largest drills to create a subway tunnel. >> i had to go back to get it all here on the screen. >> frank came from san jose with his camera to get a shot of this, sections of a giant boring machine which will create san francisco's newest underground subway line. >> it is out of this world. the size, the huge machine used to make the tunnels, all this new stuff, amazing. >> when it is constructed, this giant drill will be 300' long,

big enough to create the central subway, a tunnel 1.5 mime long to north beach. >> this piece is 120 tons. >> when it is all put together what is the weight? >> i believe it is around 400 tons. >> it takes a big crane like this to lower something that massive into the ground. this is the starting point for the excavation, better known as the "launch box." >> i have seen this stuff on tv and history channel about these machines but now it is something to see in person. >> a business across the street from where the huge machine is being delivered, a slight inconvenience to customers but nothing compared to the rumble of excavation that happened last month. >> three days of the building shaking and it was really bad. everyone was complaining at the time. now we can take anything. now is the interesting part to

>> covering santa rosa, berkeley, san jose, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> we have breaking news in san mateo county, sky 7 is over the end of a police chase on northbound 280 in redwood city. you can see a tow truck hooking up to the car that c.h.p. chased. deputies spots add stolen car that might have been used for burglaries in santa cruz county when they tried to pull over and the driver took off. they pulled over on the shoulder of 280 and a man and woman are being questioned right new. the interstate was never shut down during the chase. new details into not one, not

two, but seven explosions in mobile, alabama, the coast guard now says the explosions were likely sparked as two of the dock barges were being cleaned and three workers are in critical condition. the crews had to let the huge fires burn out and the explosions forced the evacuation of workers on the troubled carnival triumph cruiseship which was parked near for repairs since it broke down in february. >> much calmer or all fronts, right? >> absolutely. it will be calm other than the winds that have brought in the change in the weather we have been dealing with. we will show you what is going on with live doppler 7 hd, if you were stuck in the clouds you had a few drips otherwise the radar has been pretty dry. these are not the right type of clouds to bring us rain. now, the visibility, it is all cloud cover, but right about the san mateo bridge you can see it is the clearing line and it goes right out to about half moon bay

so, north of that, all the way up to santa rosa we have plenty of cloud cover and we talked about how it would take to 2:00 or 3:00 to finally clear that. it seems to be we are on that time schedule. where we have had the sunshine, fairfield, and antioch and livermore, from hayward south we are in the low-to-mid 60's to near 70 in los gatos and 55 in san francisco and you can see the areas that still have cloud cover, same thing at half moon bay and santa rosa and 57 in novato and napa, not too bad no matter where you are going at lunch. now, the forecast cycle, clouds will link el today and that aids the cooling, and today is the coolest day, with clouds and come and wake up to the same conditions tomorrow. through the weekend, the air mass will modify and the marine clouds will go away and that will aid in the warming. the cloud cover, you can see it at 11:00, headed to the 2:00 or 3:00 timeframe, it clears out and it stays at the coast.

in the monterey bay it is gorgeous with tons of nshine and you know how beautiful it is down there. temperatures specifically, we will head down to the santa clara role at 68 in san jose, and warm in los gatos and gilroy and morgan hill and you will reach 70 and 70 in los altos and then we move down northbound on the peninsula down to 63 by millbrae. it will be a brisk day with temperatures in the mid-50's and upper 50's downtown and near 60 in sausalito and from 62 in petaluma to 68 to napa and mid-50's at your beaches, also, and we will start at 59 in richmond and the same as on the peninsula headed south you game ten degrees, 68 today in fremont. we have had sunshine longer today and low-to-mid 70's to a delightful day when the sun is out. as far as the game, dress for the 50's, 59 degrees and a little bit of a breeze dropping down to 54 so it will feel cooler with the baltimore orioles and the a's kicking off.
