>> in san jose, a century old victorian is gutted and in dangerf collapse following a devastating fire. the building held a famous local business. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is in san jose with more. >> check out what is left of the beautiful old building, it is still standing, there is concern it could topple. it is standing this morning. you can see the inside is destroyed. it is just gone. look at what firefighters were up against last night, the call came at 9:30 at 7:02 south first street in san jose. firefighters say it took an hour to knock down the fire. the old two-story wooden building was built in 1884. >> they had a construction that allowed the fire to travel through the walls. it started on the first floor and traveled through the walls to the second floor.

the fire travels faster in these structures. >> the building has been many things, a black smith, a bicycle shop, a saloon. in the 70's a man bought it and he is okay. he moved out a couple of weeks ago. there are firefighters here watching over it. they got here a few minutes ago. this is not the team that fought the fire. that crew is getting rest. they making sure no flareups happen and it is left alone. they say so far so good. no problems to report. >> thank you. breaking news in the boston marathon bombings investigation. a big change with regard to the surviving suspect. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is in the newsroom. dzhokhar tsarnaev has been moved from the hospital to the prison. we have these aerials above the

facility. the u.s. marshal identified the facility as in massachusetts, a medical facility of the prison. it is a fairly small building. he was moved under a convoy and the transfer took place without incident. it is not clear whether he was flown or driven there. we learn this morning that his father is not leaving for the united states today or tomorrow from the lawyer. we don't know why the trip is delayed. this morning, we get to hear from the man who was carjacked by the brothers on thursday before tamerlan was killed in a police shootout. the victim is 26-year-old entrepreneur who said he thought he was going to die but he escaped when they stopped for gas. dzhokhar tsarnaev had to pay cash and tamerlan put down the gun he took off the seatbelt and were order the door and ran barely escaping his reach.

another victim, 11-year-old aaron hern of martinez has been in a boston hospital since the bombing and yesterday he returned to the site of the blast. >> it is hard to do things i used to do. >> his parents are so grateful to boston and children's hospital. new york city officials announced the brothers planned to drive to new york and detonate more bombs in times square. dzhokhar tsarnaev told the f.b.i. it was a spur of the moment decision. breaking news this morning, dzhokhar tsarnaev has been moved from the hospital to the prison. >> the headaches could be over for travelers soon. the house of representatives is expected to vote on a measure today to end the f.a.a. furloughs blamed for thousands of flight delays. the senate voted last night to end furloughs for air traffic controllers a result of the sweeping budget cuts last month. house democratic leader pelosi of san francisco says she

prefers to roll become all of the $85 billion in budget cuts but could back a bill for the f.a.a. if the details are satisfactory. our next half hour we will go to washington, dc, for the latest. >> shocking town of events for petaluma all star team. they went to the world series in august. three members of the team are accused of assaulting and bullying another former team member. they were suspended for two days from high school. the victim suffered bruising to the chest. another was suspended if foul language. the boys are no longer affiliated with the league the board called an emergency meeting and will work to prevent future bullying. >> the man charged with shooting another man near a little league game in vallejo will be arraigned today. the 24-year-old is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. investigators say he and another person were at a game on wednesday when they got in an argument. police say he fold the other man in the parking lot, pulled a gun

and fired at him. bullets hit the car but no one was injured and oakland security firm is offering to provide free security for the remainder of the little league season. >> this morning, santa cruz sheriff deputies are looking for witnesses to a shooting that left a woman partly blind. investigators say a man opened fire on a group of people at an apartment complex in like oak on friday night. the woman was walking by and was shot in the face. the suspect is in custody for a prior offense but he has not been charged in this shooting because witnesses have not stepped forward. >> another local city is warning people to look out for door nobody burglars after two home break ins. san leandro police say in both instances the women were held captive by a suspect while the others ransacked the homes. the men took items and left without hurting either woman. the first burglary happened around 10:30 a.m. on tuesday at a house and the latest was

yesterday around 1:00 o'clock a.m. on black pine drive. abc7 news is showing you how it works. someone rings the bell or knocks and if you don't answer they attempt to break in your home. this video was taken in shows. there have been dozens of door knock burglaries reported on the peninsula, in fremont and hercules. >> a former director at san francisco state university and a local vendor are charged in a corruption scandal and due in court today. robert used to oversee removal of hazardous material until 2009. he was in court with another vendor, steven chunk but did not enter pleas they face 200 felony counts. in the fall the university investigated the way they handed out millions in contracts. the prosecution says he accepted bribes from chung in exchange

for contracts. >> san francisco man and his sister are recovering in the caribbean after their boat sank and they swam for nearly 14 hours to reach land. last sunday, during a chartered fishing trip, 12 miles off the island, he and his sister were told to abandon the ship after an electric problem. they waited for help for an hour in shark infested waters but were separated from the captain and crews could not spot them. it took 14 hours to reach land and they hiked for three hours to get help and were taken to the hospital with severe dehydration and learned the captain and mate were rescued after spending 23 hours in the water. >> the warriors were play denver at a sold out arena in game three of the playoff series. the warriors beat the nuggets in denver on tuesday to even the series 1-1.

reducing long term pension costs but that created major tension between the police and the city. san jose still has to reach agreement with the firefighters union. >> oakland detectives say witnesses have given them descriptions of the gunman who killed a woman in front of her four-year-old child around 9:00 on wednesday night. police say the 21-year-old woman from san leandro was shot and killed in what is believed a targeted crime. her son was in the back seat of a car and wasn't hurt. oakland police and crimestoppers offering up to $10,000 for information in the murder of the woman in front of her four-year-old. >> beverly hills police are looking for a man caught on surveillance video ramming his bmw into a bicyclist in road rage incident. the bicyclist told him it started when he got in an argument with a driver this month over who has the right-of-way. the bicyclist purged the driver in the face and the driver

threatened to kill him. video shows the driver chasing him into an alley and ramming into him. the bicyclist was taken to the hospital with injuries that remain not considered life threatening. >> chefs at a san francisco academy will serve a special dish to raise money for the victims of the boston marathon bombings. teachers and students have been preparing 30 gallons of soup and will sell the corn chowder for a dollar a bowl. >> if you do not need the soup we will sell it for charity in the area so you can donate money to buy the soup and we will give soup to the local people who can use a hand. >> why aren't they selling a new england-style chowder? it is indicatered to bay area states so they can sell as much soup as possible. it is at the college campus on rhode island street.

ridership and revenues are increasing so district officials say they will explore whether a ten cent fare rollback is called for. >> a bill was approved to allow owners of green vehicles to use car pool lanes. california's green sticker program was designed to encourage drivers to buy environmentally friendly cars by letting them use car pool lanes even if they are driving solo. the program ends in 2015 but the senate has voted unanimously to allow plug in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to use the h.o.v. lanes for three years. the bill still has to pass through the state assembly. >> we following breaking news in san leandro, an overnight fire at an elementary school, and we are at the scene with the impact on students today. >> developing news in san jose where a massive fire devours a historic building. the danger firefighters are still facing this morning.
