time. >> we continue to follow breaking news from oakland where police say a suspicious device believed a grenade was found next to a fire hydrant on international boulevard. police re-opened international boulevard between 47th and 56th after shutting it down for an hour and the bomb squad was called to the scene after the suspicious device was scoffed but -- discovered but it was inert. we will let you know more when we hear from them. >> breaking news from contra costa county the c.h.p. is on the scene of a fatal accident in alamo and investigators say a man in his 20's crashed in a wooden pole and the road is closed in both directions. it is expected to re-open soon. >> more breaking news, flames ripped through an elementary school in san leandro. we are joined with a look at the

damage and new information we have learned in the past 30 minutes. >> firefighters say that arson is suspected in this blaze and the fire did a lost damage to the campus of james madison elementary school in san leandro. the portable classrooms, six of them, in the rear of the school, as you can see they have been destroyed. we have pictures. the fire was incredibly intense. firefighters got the call at midnight. when they arrived the units were fully engulfed. they could not be saved. firefighters say the six units were combined to make one large classroom and they were delivered just yesterday. that makes this blaze very suspicious this morning. >> we have something we don't know but right now with no

electrical sources and something just delivered it would go if that direction as being suspicious. >> arson investigators from alameda county fire department are on the scene later this morning with school efficients notified and they will arrive on campus shortly and the portable units were so new that no electricity was connected to them. the investigation is just going here if san if -- in san leandr. >> a historic building was gutted by an overnight fire located on south first street near interstate 280. it started at 9:30 and it took two hours to bring under control. the building was build in 1884 and the form site of a bicycle shop. firefighters say the place caused major structural damage and the building could be in

danger of collapsing. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has a live report next half hour. >> we follow breaking news in the boston marathon bombings with the surviving suspect, dzhokhar dzhokhar tsarnaev moved from the hospital to prison and confined in massachusetts at the prison and moved overnight with an armed convoy. the transfer took place without incident. it is not clear if he was driven or flown there. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has much more on the developments in the next half hour. >> from concord, contra costa county, a school district is looking for a new superintendent and our media partner, the condition con times -- "contra costa times" reported to release the school superintendent and the general counsel. the two had contracts on the job until next june. board members stated in the past

they wanted a change in leadership because of low morale and a lack of public trust in the district. in contra costa county, antioch police arrested a juvenile who admitted to calling in three bomb threats. two were made to deer valley high school and the other to black diamond middle school. police identified the suspect and took him into custody. deer valley was the victim of four other bomb threats there week. antioch high school received one on wednesday. the threats are under investigation. >> two sisters is been accused of abusing chin at a daycare center. family members say the two sisters, 35 and 32 are both pregnant. the two sisters made the first court appearance yesterday. they are accused of using dangerous swaddling methods in livermore including bounding children so tightly that they could not move or breathe

properly. the sisters remain behind bars at the jail and are due in court next week. >> two san jose high school students are in police custody for reckless driving in an accident that sent a mother and her daughter to the hospital crashing and sending a car into a home. a 40-year-old mother remains in critical condition after a bmw plowed in the kitchen on end. the teenagers were street racing. both are 17-year-old high school students. the district says they will work with community leaders, police, parents and students to address the importance of responsible driving. >> in russia, 38 people are feared dead after a fire at a psychiatric hospital. it happened this morning near now. there were 41 people when the fire break out and three managed to escape, russia state-run news agency says the fire may have been sparked by an electrical short. now the russian president is calling for an investigation
