faa air traffic controllers have been restored after sequester cuts, the late round of budget tightening involves homeland security. i'm ama daetz. new details on the sequester. we learned that coast guard patrols on the bay will be reduced due to those budget cuts. to the mass roman has the story from san san francisco. >> we have learned from a local law enforcement source that patrols, routine patrols and other activities usually performed by the coast guard, have already been cut and bay area fire and police agencies are being asked to take up the

sequester pinch. federal extensions starting today or after will be cut by nearly 18%. the average worker will lose $52 per week. >> it also resulted in 5% cut in each of the donary's national parks. the joe september tee valley visitor center hours will be two hours shorter from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. trailing repair and maintenance could also be scaled back. >> the sequester includes a total of $85 billion in federal budget cuts. the result of washington's failure to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion. the sequester slashes more than $2 billion from federal housing assistance, cuts a billion from the department of transportation, and eliminated 350 million from the nation's courts. a cutback could impact the defense for suspected boston marathon bomber dzhokar tsarnaev. >> the bay area muslim community condemned the boston marathon

suspect the brothers had technical assistance in making their pressure cooker bomb. >> they way they handle these guys trade craft leads me to believe there was a trainer and in and the question is where is the trainer or trainers. >> another questionmark, tsarnaev's' mother. she was put on a u.s. terror watch list. >> i think she played a very strong role in his radicalization process. i believe she comes to the united states, and she will be detained for questioning. so i think there is a connection there. reporter: the second suspect, dzhokar tsarnaev, remains in this federal prison hospital outside boston. he has reportedly stopped answering questions. now back to the sequester and how it is affecting the bay area. coast guard patrols on he bay will be reduced because of budget cuts.

reporter: san francisco bay will see fewer coast guard controls as sequester cuts start to be felt by homeland security. while the coast guard kept its line item intact, bay patrols will be cut back. san francisco port director says other agencies have to step up. >> if they're not able to do preventive searches and that's disturbing. so we're going to try to work on that, on the san francisco side of the bay, with the fire department and police department. >> bay area cities with law enforcement patrol boats have been asked to take over some of the routine work like patrolling special events on the bay, and pro-active searches. word of bay patrol cuts comes as the faa brings back air traffic controller across the nation, ending delays that affected thousands of passengers. >> that is great news they're not cutting back, because we were delayed coming up here.

clear tonight. not as much fog. we may see just a little few patches here and there near the coast. get ready for another warm day inland tomorrow, and all going to warm up, warm to hot, as we head into wednesday, thursday, friday. lowed tonight with the heat from today will be somewhat milder so we'll look for mid-to-low 50s across much of the bay area, and the setup will be higher pressure, really starting to build in, keeping the jetstream to the north, for more warming tomorrow. the only fly in the ointment will be this area of low pressure. best monday night and tuesday it's going to start to move towards the sierra. we'll be on the back side of the system and temperatures may dip on tuesday, and then on wednesday, get ready for a nice warm, warm, warmup, wednesday, thursday, friday. we start off tomorrow morning, just a very little bit of fog right at the coast, and that's going to mean temperatures heating up rather quickly.
