good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> temperatures will be soaring in the bay area, meaning the risk of fire danger is also taking off. crews had to douse this wildfire today. a woman reported knit her backyard this afternoon. sky 7 overhead showing about two dozen firefighters working to contain this fire. yesterday, firefighters had to

control a 12-acre fire southwest of vacaville. >> okay. here is a look at live doppler 7 hd. sunny skies right now and a wind advisory in effect right now. for the north bay mountains and east bay hills in effect from 5:00 this afternoon so not quite yet. winds will be out of the north 20, 35 miles per hour gusting 50-60 miles per hour with low humidity. when combined with warm conditions result is elevated fire risks. we have a red flag warning from 6:00 this evening until 6:00 tomorrow evening for areas elevation as above a thousand feet. of course rising temperatures tomorrow let's take a look at some of the wind gusts in the north bay. 20 miles per hour gusts.

in the east bay gusts to 30 miles per hour. here is a look at our forecast. clear, breezy with winds increasing in the higher elevations. tomorrow morning, sunny, breezy. afternoon, warming trend begins. high temperatures ranging from low 70s on coast up to about 90 into warmest inland locations and there are hotter days to follow. i'll have the accu-weather forecast in just a few minutes. >> thank you, spencer. >> with more on the fire danger let's go live now to berkeley. heather? >> fire prevention is something homeowners have to take seriously. this is something this region prepares for year round. this fire got at tension of officials. in that fire, oily eucalyptus trees were a vicious fuel. thed it had

thousands of eucalyptus and started to get rid of them. replacing with native plants that won't burn as aggressively. but there are still 350 acres to go. the campus will be vigilant during the red flag days. in el cerrito, the city does have a weed abaitment program that starts now with the help of crews. it's been one of the driest springs so there might be less brush but what exists is drying out quickly. the chief says what caught his eye were the high winds. >> it's early. but wind plays the part. if we get a fire going, that is usually what makes it challenging.

>> a memorial will honor of life of 8-year-old laila fowler stabbed to death on saturday. it will take place at jenny lind elementary school. investigators continue to search for the kimmer and contacted most sex offenders in the area and expedited the process of evidence at her home, containing fingerprints and possibly dna. investigators believe the man intended to kill the girl but not saying why they believe that is the case. >> prosecutors revealed a preschoolteacher will not face child abuse charges. she no longer works at the center point preschool. witnesses claim she taped the hands of a 2-year-old back in february. child care licensing authorities fined the school. the d.a.reviewed the case but declining to say why it will not be filing charge autos police arrested this man, jeffrey boys after a crime

spree including a kidnapping and a car jacking. police say he tried to car jack a woman after kidnapping another man. he was on the way to the russian consulate in san francisco. abc 7 news spoke to the woman. >> pulled a gun out and said get in the passenger side. i said no. i don't want to do that. he goes oat get over in the passenger. i said no. i'm not going anywhere with you, buddy. i pushed him out and said what is wrong? what do you need? >> she says she tried to stay calm when held up at the bon air shopping center at 6:30. >> you know tried to keep him talking and calm. i just kept, my voice was low. my main focus is keeping my hands from shake sog he don't think i was nervous. >> police believe the 30-year-old jeffrey boys held her up and they say just before he tried to kidnap her, he did kidnap a run, pointing

a gun demanding he drive him to a church so he can talk to a priest. the church was close sod they returned to the parking lot. the man was able to get away. at with b.that time, police had gotten an alert from san francisco police about boys. >> his mother contacted the san francisco police and said that he was on his way to the russian consulate to seek asylum and she was worried because he suffers from mental illness as well as heavily armed. >> tina caught the eye of someone in the parking lot who was able to call 911. she says she feels like she handled it well. >> i felt good bit afterwards because i thought you know, a lot of people said you know, oh, my god it's scary you were there. i thought actually, for once i think i was in the right place at the right time. >> place say they were impressed with how she handled this situation. i spoke with the man kidnapped and he, too, is doing fine. very calm.

we begin with a hunt for a possible accomplice in the boston marathon bombings. >> a dozen people are now considered to be persons of interest in this case. a u.s. official tells abc news they're trying to figure out whether this man may have chatted with tammerlan tsarnaev before the attacks. >> he was later killed during a raid by authorities. in a news conference, the president said officials are setting history aside to cooperate with the investigation. >> there are still suspicions sometimes between intelligence and law enforcement agencies that they back 10, 20, 30 years but they're improving. >> one fingerprint has been

used small amounts of nerve gas against his own people. the white house says this would signal a game change in whether or not the u.s. would intervene. >> the medical examiner is looking for human remains in the place where a piece of an airliner turned in blocks from ground zero. they believe it's part of a wing flap from one of the two hijacked jetliners. the piece wedged in a 20 inch wide space between two buildings. now there will be special tools to see if there are signs of human remains in that area. 3,000 people died but remains have not been found for about a thousand of them. searchers near los angeles found a second body today at the site where a plane crashed after colliding with another small plane. investigators believed there was just one person on board. three people escaped after another plane landed on a golf course in west lake village.
