>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> breaking news is fires burning in the bay area on this red flag wanting day. >> the fires broke out in napa and sonoma county. you can smell the smoke right now that blew into san francisco and the bay area because of gusting winds overnight.

the national weather service tweeted out this map that shows the heat signature from fires burning an hour ago. the red dot shows the size of the heat signatures picked up by satellite. here are the specifics, crews are working three separate fires and one is at night valley near highway 128 and the fire is estimated to be 100 and 150 acres, and another fire is burning in yontville and it is 15 acres. three separate fires in knight's valley and another in yontville and a crew is gathering information on the scene with a report if a few minutes. what is the weather going to be like? >> the fattest wind have been in the napa county an the airport and you can see on mount tamalpais they have been faster at 2,600' and 44-miles-per-hour

poll poll shows most members want the death penalty for dzhokhar tsarnaev if convicted. the poll says 70 percent of people support the death penalty for the 19-year-old and 27 percent are against it and 74 percent support the decision to try the younger brother in the federal courts rather than a military tribunal. >> thousand people came out to remember an 8-year-old girl found stabbed to death in her home on saturday. the family of leila fowler gathered for a vigil at jenny lind elementary school. many wore pink ribbons and carried white candles. her family spoke not first time telling the community her memory will live on. >> i am not saying goodbye but i will say "see you later." there are no goodbyes.

area. this entire area is going to be under the heat advisory so you have a high risk of heat illness. today, we are going to be almost as warm as tomorrow starting off in the 50's and 60's with breezy conditions and the fire danger conditions through noon with mid to upper 70's away from the coast and in the mid-60's and the coast is warmer at 70 and we are in the mid-to-upper 80's and we will drop back to the 60's at the coast and low-to-mid 70's around the bay and near 80 inland by 7:00 or so. check out the record warmth possible on thursday and friday and cooling comes in on saturday. >> the fires are going to affect the traffic if you are traveling through the sonoma county. you can smell the smoke in the studio and it is strong. right now, c.h.p. has issued a sig-alert and that is due to a one way traffic control in affect on westbound highway 128 between scott road and spencer

68 in union city and santa clara and saratoga at 61 so today we have a lot of warmth. above average highs and possible record highs today tomorrow and friday and the fire threat continues through the early evening. as far as temperatures, it doesn't look too bad but the 4th day in a row with temperatures above average, and 88 in los gatos and cupertino is the warm spot. up the peninsula, look at 86-degree highs and redwood city and los altos, and 88 and mel bray is warm at 81 and half moon bay at 73 and 75 in daly city and the temperatures will be flirting with 80 downtown and south san francisco. 80 at sausalito to near 90 in santa rosa and napa and along

rally in san francisco in the annual plea for improvement in the immigration law. activists gather at 24th and mission street this afternoon and march to civic center plaza on the first day of may. >> racist graffiti aimed at the filipino community has been appearing in young city. it was crawled on the side of a building owned by the filipino community center and a filipino restaurant. it could stem from the renaming of a nearby middle school in the next half hour. >> the warriors have another shot at closing out the nuggets tomorrow at oracle arena after dropping the game five in denver. the warriors fell behind by 22 points and nearly came all the way back but the nuggets held on for 107-100 win. tip-off is 7:30. >> they got felt there with steph curry.

>> mike? >> high fire danger continues until 6:00. you will experience temperatures this afternoon 13 to 17 degrees warmer-than-average. livermore is 89 and napa and oakland at 85 and redwood city at 86 and san jose and san francisco, look at that, 81 degrees. no escaping the heat. the coast will be in the 70's and monterey is 71. 90's through the central valley and 61 at tahoe and mild around san diego at 67 and near 100 in palm springs. >> a clear drive across the golden gate bridge into san francisco you can see the top of the bridge so a nice drive with traffic moving through in sausalito and we had early construction that wrapped up starting in the north end of the waldo tunnel down to the golden gate toll.

we have a crash along westbound 37 as you pass this area, a car and a big rig so a lane could be blocked with a jump along westbound 12, a tree has fallen down and it now is blocking one lane. >> mcdonald's has pulled an ad from east coast billboards showing a depressed woman with the words "you're not alone millions love a big mac." some complain this mocks an ad of mental health people and mcdonald's say it was not approved and the ad company seas it was "unintend error." >> and people attending a prom got a shocking ride. here is what pulled them up, an orange school bus with the word "tree at last" sponsored by a bail bonds business and it

smell the smoke even if san francisco. >> it came into san francisco and the bay area from gusting wins overnight with three fires burning now at knights valley and sonoma county near highway 128 started by a downed fire line and the fires are estimated to be between 100 and 150 acres. the other fire is burning near yountville in napa county and is 40 percent contained. we have a crew on the scene with a report coming up. ought fire danger could have been warning us could be a very real threat. >> mike in. >> we will talk about the wind and how much longer they will hang around. here is the latest until 11:00 this morning. we will have gusts up to 50 to 60 miles per hour and east bay hills and north bay mountains.

overnight some of this funneled into the valley and i drove over trees and shawl twigs but there was debris in the road work. red there warning and this lasted until 6:00, and this is mainly above 1,000' and if fire breaks out the winds will fan it and it will push it from north to south. we will talk about the heat because it will affect it more, inland is around 84 to 92 and you may need to close the windows. and get the smoke smell out of the house and not so cool at the coast and low-to-mid 70's. >> back over to the point we are trafficking this accident involving a big rig along westbound 37 beyond the point blocking a lane and we are seeing backup as a result. and north of here along westbound 12 we have a report of a downed tree blocking one lane.

in sonoma county the sig-alert in affect is in knights valley westbound 128 between cot road and spencer lane we have one way traffic control because of the fire burning. as i head over to nimitz in san lorenzo we have a report of a surface street crash and one car was going at a high rate of speed with more details coming up in a little bit. >> for the first time the parents of a murdered 8-year-old girl in calaveras are speaking out as they follow a lead about a possible suspect. our reporter is in the newsroom with the latest. >> investigators are looking at this man, his d.n.a. is being tested to see if there is a match to legally fowler's killer. he was arrested yesterday for trying to kidnap a 15-month-old child 45 miles from her house. investigators say he forced his way into appear apartment and tried to snatch the girl out of the mother's arm but she fought

him off. the calaveras sheriff tells abc7 news he doubts he is involved but they need to follow up on the lead. a thousand people gathered dressed this pink and purple for a memorial for leila fowler and listened to music and stories about what a sweet and smart girl she was. her mom was overcome with emotion. her third grade teacher spoke and like so many community members she is reeling from the shock. >> to happen to a child you know, this cannot happen to a child in your very own class. >> the calaveras sheriff believes the killer went into the house with the intent to attack her but it was not a botched robbery. the sheriff says only that the suspect has long gray hair and the 12-year-old brother who

found her body saw the suspect leave the house. >> one of the youngest victims in the boston marathon bombings is waking up in the bay area at hoax for the first time since the attacks in time to celebrate a special day. kira klapper is in the hometown of aaron hern in martinez. >> good morning, a great morning here in martinez. it is aaron hern's 12th birthday and he is home to celebrate with friends and family and the whole community is thrilled. he was one of youngest victims of the bombing standing by the finish line to cheer on his mother when the second bomb went off. it has been a whirlwind since the april 15th day. he was hit in the leg with shrapnel and had two surgeries in boston and on wednesday he was released from a hospital taking the first step the next

family and the uncle says he will claim the body. abc7 news has learned that someone from the tsarnaev family contacted the islamic society of boston about a possible funeral but was told the mosque does not provide funeral services. >> the new police chief of menlo park would like to arm officers with fraziers and install license plate cameras at the main entrance points to the city. menlo park and east palo alto are the only two cities that have not armed their officers with tasers. the chief absolutely wants his officers to have tasers and policies could be set to restrict how they are used. johnson wants the license plate cameras. that were adopted in local jurisdictions that have deterred criminals. >> a hayward man is missing and suffering from dementia, the

wall. >> we continue to follow breaking news from the north bay where hot, dry, breezy conditions are fueling several wildfires in napa and sonoma county. >> the smoky smell could be blowing into your neighborhood. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has more on the story. >> the wind is blowing out here. check out this video of the fire you can see the wind knocking the fire around with the embers blowing and sparklers on the hillside because of the wind they got aggressive with their response and sent 75 to 100 firefighters here. they have let some of them go home and they do have the fire 40 percent contained but the crews who are still here are hard at work. the fire has destroyed a barn, no other structures are threatened, and it has burned 50 acres and this is happening along the trail. they got the call at 11:45.
