breaking news. four wildfires are burning right now in the wine country. hundreds of acres have burned altogether. flames were whipped under hot winds. i'm cheryl jennings. >> i'm kristen sze. one home has been destroyed. the fires have been sending thick smoke from napa and sonoma counties all the way down to san

francisco all morning. four fires are burns up to yountville. amy hollyfield joins us live from calistoga and you just talked to one devastated homeowner. >> very sad. he and his wife heard the winds. many of them heard them overnight. it woke them up. you can see behind me crews are dealing with all the damage left behind. everyone is hoping that the worst is over. >> they have called this house home for 19 years got out okay but then had to stand by and watch helplessly as fire aggressively traveled up the hills toward the home. >> it was sad. nobody was here. we're just, winds were blowing so hard. it's an experience no one should have to go through. >> the fire that burned their house is called the highway fire because of the proximity to 128. just down the road, fire crews battled the yellow fire, located

just off yellow jacket ranch road. this one started because the winds knocked a power line down. >> the winds were horrific. i thought our roof was going to come off. >> janet and her husband are caretakers of 1500 acres in the hills. they were spraying the land around the home to try and protect it. fire didn't reach them and firefighters say they are out of harm's way. janet lopez doesn't trust these winds. >> even if they get it out, you know it seems like the embers started right back up because of wind. >> officials say they have had problems with spot fires because of the winds. they did add extra staff this week in anticipation of the high winds and they've also fought a fire along the silverado trail. that one destroyed the barn but they think they have the upper hand on it. back in sonoma county, this home was the only structured that was

damaged by the fire. he says he was so appreciative of the firefighters, investigators say five more minutes and the house would have been gone. >> i'm very grateful. lashingfield pancake breakfast is mother's day. i will be there, believe me. >> here is a live picture above the yellow fire. they have now merged the fires together. they referring to it as yellow fire. so far, 125 acres have burned. it's very smoky and they are hoping to have it contained by 8:00 tomorrow morning. they have 150 on firefighters working that one. one structure was threatened earlier, but at this point it looks like it's going to be land that burned. they don't think any structures are in jeopardy. they are still worried about the wind because they are expected to be a problem throughout the day. amy hollyfield, "abc 7 news."

another wildfire south of calistoga is burning at a vineyards. it started around 7:30 this morning and so far has charred 200 acres. firefighters say they are having trouble getting to it. it's an historic landmark found in 1862. >> a lot of people, you might have smelled that smoke. strong winds broke smoke from the fires all the way to san francisco and around the bay area. we are still under a red flag washing. for more, let's go to mike nicco. >> the dry air out there that is causing some such a problem. you combine that with the winds overnight and that is why we're dealing with these fires. completely void of any humidity. look at these relative humidity levels? >> 9% in sanity and few clouds in half moon bay, you get an idea how dry the ground is and we are still under the red flag warning until 6:00 p.m.

good news, the wind advisory expired at 11:00. it doesn't mean we're out of the woods as gusty winds, they won't get up to 50 miles an hour. tomorrow's forecast, record heat all of us under a heat advisory. just in time for our red flag warning, a fire station reopened in the east bay. three firefighters staffing the station 54 in brentwood. it was one of these stations shuttered last july due to budget cuts but a federal grant allowed the district to reopen the station this morning. >> as we get into fire season it's good time to remind you whether fire, quake or severe weather we have tips on our website at abc7news.com. look for the prepare nor cal logo. >> breaking news on boston

marathon bombing. three new suspects were taken into custody today. "abc 7 news" reporter katie marzullo joins us now. >> they didn't have to look far. they were friends of bombing suspect of tamerlan tsarnaev. they report they are in custody of the f.b.i. we just learned from the u.s. attorneys office in massachusetts that they are expected to appear in federal court in boston at 12:30 our time. take a look at this picture. two of the suspects are posing with tsarnaev. they have been identified as two university massachusetts dartmouth students from kazakhstan. they are charged with lying to investigators about knowing the whereabouts of the tsarnaev brothers after the bombing. also, conspiracy to ab

obstructed justice after the facts. remember investigators were searching a landfill where preliminary reports that the friends of the brothers threw away evidence of the bombings, perhaps even a backpack full of fireworks from his dorm room. notices clear if dzhokar tsarnaev asked them to do that for him. the men were being held on student visa violations. this is video taken into custody. they actually appeared in video for visa hearing in boston today. investigators do not think the three friends helped build the bombs or assist in the bombings or that they even knew about the bombings beforehand and boston police are emphasizing that right now there is no additional public threat to the people of boston. katie marzullo, "abc 7 news." the martinez boy injured in the boston bombings is celebrating his birthday today.

aaron hearn is spending his first dai full day back in the bay area more than two weeks after the blast. he finds the community eager to lend support. keira is live with the story. >> reporter: good morning to you. it really is quite incredible. aaron returned to martinez yesterday with his parents. it's his 12th birthday today. one woman who ran pastries up to the front porch, she feels confident she can speak with everyone in the community howie late they are to have him back. aaron is part of all of their family. >> the sun is shining brightly over martinez this morning as good news that aaron hearn is back home just in time for his 12th birthday today. >> it's great he made it back and happy birthday. >> me and my co-workers down the

street would like to wish him happy birthday and hope he is doing great. >> he was waiting for his mom to cross the boston marathon finish line when the second blast went on off sending shrapnel in into his leg. he took physical first steps the next day. he still has hundred staples in his legs and it will be a long journey. >> i have never seen one town come together as this town has for him. it is amazing what they are doing for him. >> and he deserves it. >> to help with mounting medical costs, businesses have held several fund-raisers, most recently they donated to aaron's recovery fund. >> we raised altogether $6700. when we went to the bank, at

hospital last week. >> in calaveras county, more than a thousand people came out to remember an 89-year-old girl found stabbed to death at a home. friends and family gathered for a vigil at the elementary school in valley springs where she attended school. they were joined by community members, many of them wore pink ribbons. the family spoke for the first time since the killing thanking the community for support. they tried to remember the good times they had. >> she was over the house and she would sleep over once a week. >> her and my daughter became friends and she spent every summer with us. >> so far the cal scary us a sheriff's office has offered a vague description of the suspect. they are looking into whether an attempted kidnapping may be linked. she said says she overpowered an

berkeley's world famous chez panisse set a new opening date. they are scheduled to reopen on june 10th. a huge steel frame is in place a visible sign of progress since the fire. she says it will include january's and craftsman style elements. a lot of people can't wait. >> make your reservations now.

great day for people who like it a little breezy. >> a little breezy and hot and very dry. the smoke has been coming down from the napa fire. let's talk about what is going on with our weather. first we'll show you a beautiful picture from mount tamalpais. the trees are calmer than they were earlier this morning when we had a gust up to about 34 miles an hour. few select clouds along the coast. at you look down san francisco all the way down to the san mateo county coast. it is clearly out rather rapidly. mount diablo, fastest gusts around 70 miles an hour. while you were sleeping in the diablo range, 43. mount tamalpais at 34 and twin peaks in san francisco, 31 miles an hour. let's check out a beautiful picture from southeast looking back towards richmond. warmer temperatures, high fire risk through 6:00.

dangerous heat for all of us tomorrow. then the cooling will arrive in shifts. it hits the coast and then bay and inland. here is the way it looks in walnut creek, one of the areas that could hit 90 degrees today. in fact, we'll be around 13 to 17 degrees warmer than average. just about everyone in the mid to upper 80s except for san francisco, and it's very warm for this time of the year. here is a look at highs. we'll start down, this is how you are going to be warm in sunnyvale today. 88 in los gatos. check out the low to mid-80s for most of the peninsula. head over to the coast, a little bit of breeze, 65 it won't quite touch pacifica at 70. near 80 downtown south san francisco and mid-80s to near 90 in the north bay. santa rosa and napa, 92 or 93. you'll be close. beaches will be around 70 degrees. richmond, oakland, possible record highs of 84, 85.

low to mid-80s for north bay. you'll be near 90 tomorrow. no records here because you got to get to the mid-90s that is tomorrow. as far as going to the game, first pitch, 76 degrees. have something to protect yourself from the sun. it's going warm up 81 degrees in the shade. good news without the breezes tonight. temperatures will calm back down and cool into the mid to upper 50s. high pressure clockwise flow and counterclockwise flow for low pressure. winds will bring us the high and gusty winds and lower than 20%. high fire danger until 6:00 today and then all of us in the heat advisory tomorrow from 1:00 to 9:00 and heat will peak and upper 90s are possible in some of our inland valleys.
