looking at live doppler 7, you can see clear skies now. no fog at the coast. there is cooling fog well to the south. south of monterey it may work up to the bay area sometime tomorrow afternoon but for now, we're peeling the heat. with the exception of the coast and let me give you a look at high temperatures which will include records for this date denoted by after therics. san francisco a high of 88 so far a record high for this date. san francisco, 90 in oakland. 92 in santa rosa. 85 in sfo. all record highs for the date. those location that's have not yet set records more could be set, it's -- there may be rather hot conditions, it's 91 in livermore now. interest interest interestingly right now, as we take a look air quality is okay. it's medium or moderate so far

no health advise very issued. that is good news, taking a look at the forecast clear and warm to mild this evening. temperatures remaining into the 80s, clear mild tomorrow morning and sunny warm again tomorrow but heat will be easing up just a little bit and there is some sharp cooling over the weekend. >> spencer. thank you. the down side of the heat is wildfires burning across california right now. gusty winds creating problems in southern california. >> speaking of which we take you live now to southern california. firefighters turning they're tension to a wildfire burning next to homes. a small brush fire has now grown to more than 6500 acres and this has grown rapidly.

schools with subdivisions have been evacuatesed sm. rvs and boats burn bud no homes have been lost at this point. some agriculture buildings have gone up in flames that fire is now burning towards the coast. >>. firefighters focused on this fire in the city of banning. it's about 40% contained now. he vac order for that community has been lifted but not before flames devoured a home. >> it hasn't hit me yes. i keep saying well, i'm alive. >> this one is near mira

at 2:00 they changed that estimate and will be here all overnight and maybe in the morning but they're still be careful with it. >> those fires up north have left a haze in the bay area. you can barely see downtown oakland from parts of san francisco. from the east bay to pin anyone slarks people are smelling smoke from the fires. it's not just smoke cutsing down on visibility heat sending ozone levels up. >> a little bit of elevated levels of particulate solution overnight. we've got some haze, some pollution but at this point it's only into moderate categories so not a real health concern. >> air quality officials keeping a watch on stations. their affects show winds will pick up this evening. that shoud clear the air before pollution levels reach dangerous ones. they're recommending people

who are sensitive to take precaution autos unexpectsed twist in the case of the chemist accused of trying to plant orange juice spiked with rubbing alcohol in a starbucks display case. >> before she was scheduled to make a court appearance the district attorney announced they'd not filed charges and she would be released. >> abc 7 news joins us live now from the county jail in milpitas. vic, what happened? >> sh this is a shocker. this is elmwood women's detention center. the suspect will be released after 7:00 tonight. the prosecutor didn't file any charges and so, she will be let go. she is the 50 yeerld-year-old whelmist suspected of placing rubbing alcohol into orange juice bottles, she's being held without bail since arrest on tuesday.

we spoke with louis ramos, he tells thus is an active investigation but they're not able to make a decision to charge her in time to satisfy what is called the 48 hour rule. in other words a person has to be released after 48 hours in custody if there are no are charges. she was arrested tuesday the d.a.had until noon to file charges and the d.a.did not. abc 7 news learn aid big reason is that test results from the juice bottles are not back yet. and evidence sent to the crime lab yesterday. normally take weeks to months to get them back so without those results prulters have little to no evidence to take the case to court. we're learning that from the lawyer for this woman that she

is distressed, his words and says she doesn't know why she's in custody. but she's grateful no one was hurt. we'll give thu interview from abc news with a barista who gave police the final information that led to arrest. >> vic, thank you. a third grader teacher has been arrested on charges of mild molestation. police say the 47-year-old acted inappropriately with nine female students. he was arrested on 40 counts including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. a placerville man has been ruled out as a possible suspect in the murder of an 8-year-old girl. >> investigators say they're looking for laila fowler's killer closer to her hometown.

>> we're continuing to follow up on lead autos sheriffs say they believe the killer is someone close to the gold country community where the little girl was murdered. >> we have no information leading us to believe any cases involving children are related to our current investigation. >> sheriffs sent a doctor check on a suspect then arrested -- attempted child abduction there. >> it's determined we can rule that person out as a suspect in this case. >> the 8-year-old found by her 12-year-old brother saturday afternoon a valley springs home. police say she died from stab wounds for those who live here and know the family, each day that passes without a break is more difficult. >> scared to death every night. i haven't slept since this happened. it's sad. i'm not -- i'm up checking on my kids. >> sheriffs say they've collected several knifes from

live to southern california. we're monitoring this fire near camarillo. fire line burning close to homes here. you can see a steady line here, we've seen water-dropping helicopters in the area. but thousands of acres have burned here in this area.

conditions. would you believe we're in may? a may snow storm almost a foot and a half of snow today's snowfall made the roof of a jeep dealership just cave in. residents as you can imagine ready for spring to finally arrive. >> unbelievable. i was just amazed like wow. it's may and there is this much snow. >> there are other problems, too. falling tree limbs are knocking out electricity to more than 20,000 customers. >> that is unbelievable. hot weather isn't just an issue for people. animals are affected by high temperatures. today at oakland zoo animals were given special treats.

actress reese witherspoon apologized for recent arrest for disorderly conduct. she spoke about the incident during this interview today on good morning america. she told george stephanopoulos she had no idea what she was saying as a police officer arrested her husband two weeks ago. >> i saw him arresting my husband and i panicked. and i said all kinds of crazy things. i told him i was pregnant. i'm not pregnant. i said crazy things. you hear me laughing because very no idea what i was talking about. i'm so sorry so, disrespectful to him. >> witherspoon was filming a movie admitting they had had too much to drink during dinner. she says the hardest part

look at the largest one burning in ventura county. and the problem is that it may get worse before better. fuel bid gusting winds which today have been about 50 miles per hour but could be gusting tomorrow up to 75 miles per hour. >> and all day, we've been watching flames engulf several buildings swems rvs. some locatesed near camarillo. there are 850 firefighters on the line trying to get this under control. >> firefighters evacuated 6500 acres. there is no, i mean no, zero containment at this point. >> three other major wildfires burning in california are nearly as ferocious as this one in ventura county. summit fire is about 40% contained burning 3,000 acres. in northern california 2,000

francisco to see what federal dollars have done to improve every yet middle school. abc 7 news visited the school back in early 2011 with the federal government identified it as one of the worst-performing schools. >> i see kids come in learning times tables. >> hiring of additional teachers providing direct support and tutoring to students. >> today, time for the deputy superintendent to report to duncan. >> we're interested in doing this together. >> those other once low performing schools presented their results all made significant gains in english and math. every yet had most of any middle school in san francisco. and there is a waiting list to get in. >> one 8th grade girl says

assault rifle walking in to terminal b opening fire near the ticket counter. the gunman shot himself in the head. flights in and out of houston were delayed because of the shooting but should be back on time right now. >> president obama is in mexico hoping to strengthen security and economic ties with america's neighbors to the south. he met with the mexican president shortly after his arrival, outlining what it will take to improve relations between the two country autos the united states and i know here in mexico as wells, when the economy is growing, when people have a lot of our other problems are solved. at least we have resources to solve them. >> and during his visit the president is expected to seek mexico's support for the immigration overhaul efforts

breaking news happening oakland hills. sky 7 at broadway terrace. you can see a small grass fire burning here, crews all over this one burning about two acres but crews knocked this one down. they're checking now for hot spots but a brush fire out in the oakland hills. >> a high school student fighting back after her senior photo was pulled from the school year book. the photo shows north carolina senior holding her now 1-year-old son. the school asked students to have their picture taken with something best represents them or an achievement. she chose her son because he represented her drive to stay in school. the school didn't see it that way. she says she was told the picture promoted teen pregnancy. she sees it as a symbol of responsibility and love. >> so i'm looking after my son. and how he had to help me
