abc7 news starts now with breaking news. >> good morning, i am eric thomas. >> breaking news from the south bay where three robbery suspects are under arrest after a high-speed chase. san jose police say the chase ended with the suspects crashing the car through a fence in front of a home at silver creek road. two women and a man were taken into custody.

the suspects are believed to have robbed a 7/11 a few hours ago. look at seen -- scene, and a woman arrested was wanted for another 7/11 robbery a few months ago. it did not actually hit the house. >> is there a chance for sprinkles again today? >> i think so, probably less than yesterday, but, it is still there. the good news is live doppler 7 hd shows dry for the morning commute. the last three hours you can see the bulk of the radar in the central valley for now. for the afternoon, we still have a chance of a sprinkle developing and a light shower. temperatures are 68 to 74 inland and 71 at bay and the coast is 61 to 63. leyla gulen?

>> a sig-alert has traffic at a standstill because of a fatal crash that kurd a little while eastbound. southbound 680, one lane is getting by and now it is down to 8 miles per hour. the backup is extending. take 84 to connect to mission boulevard and reconnect to 680 with the sig-alert in affect until further notice. if you are traveling from antioch to concord it is 18 minutes and half an hour from 205 to dublin/pleasanton and highway 80 from highway four to the maze is 13-minute commute. >> developing news with new accounts of the deadly limousine fire that killed five women and injured four more on the san mateo bridge. it was carrying nine passengers one more than an lowed under regulation. the rear of the limousine was traveling close to the ground.

the survivors had to escape through the partition. among the victims was a new bride, friday bride, and another nurse at fresno and also, a victim who has yet to be identified on a girl's night out to celebrate the new marriage. >> conflicting first-hand accounts of what happened, including an emotional surviving passenger saying she blames the driver while the driver tells a different story. amy hollyfield is in foster city by the bridge. >> the question is, was enough done on the bridge to help the women? did the limousine driver do enough? he says that he did, and he wishes he could have done more but it wasn't possible. he says it happened so fast. one of the surviving women is

questioning him. he admits the first time one of the passengers knocked on the privacy window and said "smoke" he thought she was asking to they could smoke. a few seconds later, the knock, the plea, had panic to it and that is when the women say they wish he had acted quicker. [ inaudible ] we said "stop the car" and the car was completely engulfed. i felt that no one could have survived that. >> the four survivors climbed through the privacy window with the fire from the back of the car all the women were moving to the front of the car to get away from it and the five who died were found huddled near the privacy window. there is one more new development in the investigation. a witness has come forward saying the limousine was

dragging an inch off the ground and she noticed it before the fire. she was behind the limousine and said it was really low to the ground and she has told c.h.p. officers this information and the c.h.p. says the investigation is still ongoing. >> we hear more from the husband of one of the victims of the fire, with the husband saying jennifer was in the very back of the limo and it was engulfed in flames. he got the initial phone call that something happened to his wife he knew it could not have been good but he never imagined she was dead. >> i didn't know what happened but i knew something bad happened because my wife didn't call. i checked the phone, month text or missed call from her. nothing. >> he said the familiar just celebrated their daughter's 10th

covered the floor inside the safe way on jackson street in san francisco and the store is below a large apartment complex and safe way described the leak as "building-wide problem." they close half an hour last night. they are working with the san francisco department of public health to make sure that the store is safe. >> san francisco city crews are working to repair the damage from a sinkhole. this was the scene last night at 2nd and lake. crews believe a broken sewer pipe caused the 8' by 22' hole. >> caltran is running audio tests on bolts used in the bay bridge expansion to determine if they could crack. 32 bolts broke on the eastern span which now is under construction. since then caltran has tested 192 bolts for hardness and durability and listening for microfractures. so far, the tests have found no

additional problems. >> now a check on the weather. >> live doppler 7 hd is showing to the north and to the east and to the south where we fine the best radar, with snow falling in the sierra which is great news although it is too little too late we will take whatever we get. it was a dismal snow pack from the winter. in the south bay starting at 51 if los gatos. santa clara is 56. allen rock is around 56. 60 in alameda and redwood city and fairfield and brentwood are the warmer spots. richmond district is 57. this is the way it looks outside: pretty dark.

45 to 58 at 7:00. we will be 55 to 66 at noon and 55 at the coast and 56 inland. in the evening, we will be in the 50's and 60's. the next three days from the exploritorium camera to the bay bridge, we will be in the 70's for tomorrow away from the coast and 60 there and upper 60's to low 70's on thursday and the warmer weather away from the coast with low-to-upper 70's around the bay and inland but, still, 58 at coast. warm push is coming. we will see what it does for the weekend. >> good morning, to calculate how long it take you to get away from this fatal accident blocking all but one lane, southbound 680, we have one lane that gets you by after a multi-vehicle accident resulting in a fatality with three miles of backup and the entire stretch

>> covering cupertino, concord, wide country and all the bay area this is abc7 news. >> on this tuesday morning an effort is underway to resolution key a dozen climbers stranded on a volcano that is erupting in the philippines after being tracked by rocks and ash. they were climbing on the most active volcanos and it is the first time it has erupted in three years. helicopters have been sent in. >> governor brown says it is premature to move 3,000 inmates from two state prisons because of an airborne fungus.

valley fever is blamed for three dozen inmate deaths. last week, a court ordered the inmates be moved because of the health hazard posed by the outbreak. the brown administration fight in court comes as california faces a federal court order to reduce prison overcrowding. the judge scheduled a june 17 hearing to hear arguments. >> if you are eating out on mother's day make the reservation now. >> widespread online sales taxes are inching closer to reality with states allowed to collect taxes on sales backed by rebound but faces an uphill battle in the house. >> the national restaurant association says that more than a quarter of americans celebrate mother's day by dining out and of the 80 million expected out, a quarter plan to have more than one restaurant meal on sunday. if you are trying to think of a name for your child, keep it

a look at the radar and live doppler 7 hd shows good news for the commute. it is dry. we will talk about what is going on by zooming out and you can still see the low and counterclockwise flow is what will dominate our weather. it is sliding to the south today so the best chance of showers will be to the south and headed over to bakersfield and fresno headed in the afternoon. wins are light and variable and less than ten miles per hour and the visibility is god as we look down from sutro tower to downtown san francisco with no fog forming yet. today is going to be partly sunny with an isolated shower and dry and seasonal tomorrow through thursday with warmer-than-average weather on friday and into the weekend. as far as our high temperatures, 71 in san jose today, and 72 in los gatos are the warmer temperatures and upper 60's in

sunnyvale and the friend is where the computer models are showing the possibility of a stray shower at 2:00 or 3:00. 65 in millbrae down to 71 in mountain view and los altos and at the coast, throw mid-60's today and as you head through the north bay valley upper 60's are a popular number and 70 at novato and napa and low 60's at the coast and upper 60's to near 70's along the east bay shore and in the east bay valley the warmer weather and low-to-mid 70's. giants and philadelphia, again, at at&t park, at 7:15 first patch, partly sunny and 61 degrees dropping to 57 by the end of the game. the temperatures tonight are cooler than this morning. we will have upper 40's in the north bay to the coast and low-to-mid 50's for everyone else. the next seven days show

our exploritorium camera looking back to the bay bridge. if you were comfortable yesterday we will be two- or three-degrees either side of where we were yesterday from concord two degrees warmer to san francisco at 65 and three degrees cooler. the entire state, notice the best radar return is all around us and that is where they will stay for the most part as the low shifts to the south with a chance of a stray shower and be prepared no matter where you travel across the state with a shower possible mid-70's through the central valley and the snow level will rise in the sierra. mid-60's around los angeles and san diego. safe travels. >> terrible crash in sunol area southbound 680 on vargas road, a fatality block all but one lane, we are looking at at least three miles of backup, bumper to bumper track at eight miles an hour is the top speed. take 84 to mission boulevard to reconnect you to 680. at the altamont pass the top

thanks for waking up early with us. >> also up early this morning is mike nicco checking the radar with our forecast. >> you know who never went to bed? live doppler 7 hd. what a company line, right? it is watching the weather while you sleep and picking up dry conditions. now the forecast. today, a lot like yesterday and we will see a few breaks in the clouds and maybe more than yesterday. still, a stray hour is possible, and they will not be so widespread. 68 to 74 inland and 64 to 71 around the bay and 61 to 63 at coat. >> in sunol we are tracking a sig-alert and the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic is moving smooth from oakland to the plaza but at the incline we had a report of a stalled truck blocking one lane and it is causing backup.

four on saturday on the san mateo-hayward bridge. new bride, neriza fojas, and michelle estrera were nurses at fruitvale community hospital, and jennifer balom and another woman not identified on girl's night out to celebrate the marriage. we are learning more details of the tragic night. the limousine had nine passengers one more than allowed under state rules. witnesses say the rear of the limousine was riding really close to the ground. we are learning the survivors had to crawl through a partition dividing the driver area from the passenger compartment in order to escape. we have team coverage with abc7 news reporter cornell bernard in san jose. >> two victims from the fire are slowly recovering this morning here at valley medical center, amalia loyola and julian assange from san -- and jasmine who sufd

cuts and mary grace was at stand formed and she may have been released, as well. we are hearing from john balon whose wife, jenni did not make it out. he knew something was wrong on saturday because he did not hear from johnny all night and breaking the news to their daughter was heartbreaking. >> she cried. i hugged her. i told her, don't worry, mommy is in a happy place now. don't worry to mom. she is in happy place now. she is not in pain anymore. >> john says the accident happened the very same day the couple celebrated their oldest daughter's 10th birthday. jenni also leaves a two-year old

son behind. >> cornell, thank you. there is a difference of opinion between the limo driver and a survivor on what could have been done in the moments after the fire erupted. orville brown thought the women were asking to smoke when they started knocking on the partition that separated him from the passengers and once he realized the him seep was on fire, brown pulled over and was devoured by flames in 90 seconds. the survivors got out by squeezing through the small partition, but one witness said the driver could have done more. >> he could is gotten out from the car, he just got out from the car. >> the car was engulfed, completely engulfed and i felt that nobody could have survived that. >> investigators are still

disappeared in 2002 when 19. we do not have her picture. this is dejesus disappearing at age 14. and amanda berry, disappeared the day before her 17th birthday in 2004. in an incredibly sad twist, berry's mom died in 2006 of heart failure making this amazing reunion bitter sweet but berry is the reason they are free. neighbors heard her pounding on a door begging for help. this neighbor came to the rescue and part of the 9-1-1 call they made together. >> i looked and i saw this girl and she just going nuts on the door and we had to kick on the bottom, lucky the door was clean and she climbed out, came to my house and we called 9-1-1. >> help me, help me i have been kidnapped and missing for 10 years and i am here, i am free now. >> the neighbor said police will not confirm the child is berry's

daughter. the suspects are three months, in jail and could be charged in 24 hours. berry identified one as 52-year-old ariel castro. cleveland reports he has been arrested at mcdonald's and he used to be a school bus driver but is the only one of the brothers who lived at house. we are 30 minutes away from a news conference and we will stream it on abc7news.com at 6:00 and i will bring you the newest information. >> the f.b.i. says they plan to bring in dog teams today to aid in the investigation into the fatal stabbing of an 8-year-old girl in calaveras county. dive teams will continue to search two reservoirs near the home of leila fowler. a murder weapon has not been found but authorities say test results on exiting evidence has brought them a step closer to catching her killer. the girl was found stabbed to

death in her valley springs home on saturday with no sketch of a suspect. >> a fight to keep historic dome theater in pleasant hill open is in the hands of the city council. dozens weighed in on closing the theater last night in a meeting that ran beyond midnight. the counsel is considering an appeal to stop demolition of the theater. the theater is scheduled to be replaced with a sporting goods store as part of a major shopping center upgrade. the theater closed its doors last month after more than 40 years in operation. >> a san francisco supervisor committee is expected to vote for a settlement today meaning cell phone retailers do not have to distribute wanting materials that ends the legal battles with service providers over the 2010 law which has been on hold requiring all cell phone per chans to distribute radiation warning materials with the phones they sell and would drop the law and in return ensure the taxpayers do not end up paying the legal fees.

>> the san francisco 49ers are expected to send their bid package to the national football league to host super bowl 50 at the new stadium in santa clara. the bay area has a great chance of getting the nod for 2015 when nfl owners meet may 21. south florida was the only other contender but renovating the stadium in miami was a stipulation to hosting the big game and the florida legislature voted against that last week. construction on the state-of-the-art stadium is on track to open for the 2014 season. >> the only other competitor dropped out so that is pretty good. >> by default, you are the winner. >> five years of college... >> good morning, everyone, 5:40 on this tuesday. we are starting off dry. the fog has not formed. seven miles is the lowest visibility at santa rosa and

half moon bay and everyone else is okay with mostly clouds. that is what we have through the morning, but the commute will be dry and 47 at the coast and mid-to-upper 50's for the rest of us. through noon, 55 at the coast and mid 60's and fairly nice outside around the bay and inland and near 70 at 4:00 and upper 50's to near 60 at the coast and all of us in the 50's and 60's by 7:00 and isolated shower is possible from noon through 7:00 and it will taper as the dry air comes in and you can see what it does tomorrow, more sunshine and temperatures the same as today and into thursday and we will get the warm push of air on friday that will last through the weekend. we will look at that in a minute in the seven-day forecast but, first, an update from leyla gulen on the sig-alert. >> first, to the bay bridge, the westbound traffic is very heavy. we had an early report of a stall but that is cleared. all lanes have re-opened. right now we have one lane on if

you travel along southbound 680 through sunol approaching vargas road we have a sig-alert until further notice. it is involving a fatality. right now we are down to five miles per hour. avoid this if you are in the area and use 84 to conduct to mission boulevard and back on 680. coming away from the east bay, take 580 instead to get around that. >> next, making pg&e pay for the san bruno explosion and record people ats some say they should be hit with. >> wanting if you stop by the a.t.m. with a rooming threat from overseas that could cause you some trouble.

by cyber attacks launched from the middle east and north africa by hackers linked to "anonymous ." the f.b.i. believes 140 banks are potential targets but did not name the specific banks. most people will just be inconvenienced but some could have their data stolen. >> pg&e could get a record fine for the pipeline explosion that killed eight people in 2010. the staff of the california public utilityies commission is recommended pg&e pay $2 billion penalty. the recommendation came the same day the city leaders filed their own recommendations for a huge fine. investigators blamed faulty welding and safety violations for the explosion and pg&e says the penalty makes it harder to upfriday the natural gas pipeline. the judge will way all the recommendations and make a final penalty.

on that decision this summer. >> at the wildfire season ramps up the forest service is adding faster planes to the fleet and will buy seven new air tankers for $160 million. the new tankers carry more than 3,000 golf loans -- gallons of lick wed. >> a boost for bicycles on bart, with a new survey conducted after a one week trial in march when bicycles were allowed on all trains at all times but for some peak hours. 84 percent of those surveyed said having bicycles had for impact on their decision to ride bart and 75 percent say it had little or no affect on their trip. bart staff will formally propose giving bicycles more access on the system models after the one-week trial. >> the warriors have to show some heart and rebound from the
