appeared in court in the last 30 minutes and we are lending gruesome new details. >> and there will be more bicyclists on the road on bicycle to work day across the bay area. >> good morning, at 6:00, thanks for joining us. >> a gray start to the day but if you are bicycling to work how will it look, mike? >> it is gray but not so moist as yesterday. i have not heard reports of drizzle so far and no radar learns on live doppler 7 hd showing how much more dry the air is. because it is dry we will see the sunshine faster and temperatures are warmer. we start off in the mid 50's around the bay and hit the low 60's by noon and mid-60's to upper 60's in the afternoon with partly cloudy sky. but it is jacket weather in the evening at 60. inland we are starting off with clouds and mid-50's here but we will be in the mid 60's with sunshine dominated by noon and low 70's with temperatures close to average inland and now to the

coast clouds are stubborn, and we are around 50 at noon and upper 50's with a few pockets of sunshine in the afternoon. leyla gulen? >> i will tell you who is not bicycling to work as we look behind me, this is the bay bridge toll plaza the metering lights are turned on and we have lots of traffic making the push in the westbound direction toward san francisco. i have a check of the drive time traffic so if you are traveling through antioch to concord, 30 minutes gets you had and 43 minute headed out of tracy along 580 and 80 from albany, into burley and to emeryville is 14 minutes. >> new this morning, abc7 news has obtained a copy of report from former lapd police chief bill bratton about recommended changes if the oakland police department. we received the report hours before it will be officially released at a news conference critical of the department under the leadership of now former police chief who suddenly stepped down yesterday.

video from inside the courtroom. castro has been formally charged with rape and kidnapping and looked at the floor the entire hope the pond was set at $2 million for each case totaling $8 million, and he hand ordered not to have contact with the victims or their family. the prosecution described some of what the women want through. >> in captivity they were bound and restrained and sexually assaulted and never free to leave this residence. >> the affiliate in cleveland is reporting that michelle knight, still in the hospital this morning, says she was impregnated at least five times by castro and each time he would punch her in the stomach and damp her until she was miscarried. michelle delivered amanda's baby and was drove said if she died,

in oakland yesterday and they say it appears to be a mummy skull and they brought in cadaver dogs to find other parts but they found nothing. >> today, bart staff will present directors with the results of a new survey saying passengers are more accepting of workers -- bicycles on trains allowing bicycles on the train around the clock with 84 percent saying they had no impact on decision to ride bicycle and 75 percent say it had little or no affect leading to a change in current policy that bans bicycles on most trains during commute hours. that is good news for many of the bicyclists hitting the road this morning for bike to work day across the bay area. our reporter is live at golden gate bridge.

>> a lot of people are warming up for real on bicycle to work today. there will be checkpoints. there are 200 stations all over the bay area with volunteers with snacks and water and encouragement and doctors from kaiser permanente are here to talk to riders and give them advise. we will bring in a spokesman from the san francisco bicycle coalition. how many years for they have vent? >> this is the 19th year, so the coalition is in conjunction with kaiser permanente puts this event open to welcome riders of all different skills for the day to bike to work. >> i love my bicycle but i love my car. what is the challenge getting people out of their cars and on to their bicycles?

japanese niece -- japanese airliner ana will resume flights in june. among the first boeing 787 dreamliner is one from japan to san jose international airport. reservations for the flight begin tomorrow. the dreamliners are going through inspections and test flight after a problem with a battery system was corrected. the votes are in and another bay area community is extending a tax to fund its schools. our media partner reports that voters have had 69 percent supporting it, and it extends a tax for eight years and adds $123 to the existing tax bringing the new total to $581. altogether the tax extension should bring in $1.25 million a

the clouds. for those on firm ground, that is where we are getting clouds and a grave start. mike nicco will talk about when the clouds are clear and our temperatures. >> the search is on for two cruise ship passengers who are missing. the passengers were discovered missing after carnival spirit docked in australia. the associated press say they are 30-year-old man and 26-year-old woman. the nationalities are not released. a search is under way in waters 60 miles around sydney. so far carnival is not commenting. >> in new tv interview, the arizona woman convicted murder ing her ex-boyfriend would rather receive the death penalty than to spend life in prison. >> i would rather get death than life. death is the ultimate freedom i would rather have my freedom as soon as i can get it. >> the jury found jodi arias

guilty of first-degree murder, and became jealous of her boyfriend and wanting to see other women in 2008 so she shot him in the head and stabbed him more than 30 times. the defense claims self-defense. >> a clothing star abercromie is under fire again, according to the author from the robin report the c.e.o. said he doesn't want larger people in the store. he says jeffries said he wants thin and beautiful people and that people who care the store's colleagues should feel they cool kids. they do not make women pants any larger size than a 10. they have been accused of discriminating again heavy people. "good morning america" will have more on the controversy at 7:00 a.m. >> a new snapshot of the improving housing market released this morning showing fewer united states homes entered foreclosure dropping 20 percent from march to april and down 32 percent from a year ago.

altamont pass, 20 miles per hour, just easing up headed into livermore and the highway four, to 9 miles per hours between antioch and pittsburg. >> new this morning, abc7 news has obtained the bratton report which calls for recommended changes in the oakland police department. it will be officially released later this morning and it come as day after the sudden resignation of police chief jordan. our reporter is at headquarters with more on the story. >> good morning, eric, one of the recommendations is to get investigators out of this building this downtown oakland. the report found that the department needs to use decentralized investigations saying that centralized investigations are not working and the number of robberies and burglaries continue to grow. on that point, the report also found the city doesn't

investigate burglaries. they found they only have one part-time investigators assigned to handle more than 10,000 burglary cases last year. they recommend that burglaries be handled at that district level rather than the centralized level. this comes as howard jordan is out. he will not be around to hear the recommendations. he resigned yesterday as the chief of police and he said it is because of health problems and says he was not forced out. the interim chief will give the press conference about this bratton report anthony trayvon o is appointed for now awaiting a national search. >> a judge set bond at $8 million for former school bus driver charged with keeping three women captive for a decade, this new video just in to the newsroom as he was arraigned about an hour ago,

hill. the police commissioner will urge the federal government to tight were security around big public events like the boston marathon. that is the commissioner davis testifying that there should be more undercover officers and surveillance cameras at large events. the video from a restaurant near the boston explosions helped identify the two bombing suspects. >> this morning, hayward police are sending for a man who forced them to shoot at him. witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun leaving a hayward bart station yesterday afternoon and sky seven was overhead as officers swarmed the area. one officer spotted the suspect near the dmv office on jackson street and that is when he pointed a gun at the officers and the officer fired a shot but did not hit him. police searched if throw hours and evacuated several businesses but they have not found the man. >> san jose police are investigating whether there are additional crimes related to a peeping and burglary suspect. the 38-year-old pedro guzman is

facing charges for two burglaries last month in san jose. both times he stole items while the people inside were sleeping. last week, officers say they found a pair of women's underwear on the roof of a home which had been taken from a laundry basket in the garage and had guzman's fingerprints. detectives are asking the public to provide information on other burglaries he may have committed. this morning, abc7 news will get a look at caltran testing their rods installed on the new eastern span of the bay bridge and some of the rods have already cracked when tightened. the testing comes a day after israel revealed the cost to repair broken bolts on the span could hit $10 million. engineers believe adding steel saddles to bridge support will fix the problem, those bolts are designed to him keep the bridge safe during anering. caltran says they are not sure if the bridge will still open on labor day as scheduled. >> a revised land for a new

waterfront arena for the warriors is prepared in the san francisco planning commission today. a superviseor's committee saw the latest refinements which reduces the height of the arena and pulls it back from the bay and adds more open space. the architect says that it is in response to community concerns. opponents say the changes should trigger a re-do of the entire environmental review process. the warriors still hope to on the new arena on piers 30 and 32 by 2017. >> get ready to share the road this morning we will show you the party taking place for bike to work day. >> get ready for new delays if you commute at night across the bridge, the new demolition about to take place and the road closure also taking place. >> here is the east bay, at walnut creek, traffic is building and traffic and weather together are next at

morning commuters. and abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is here. >> look at the crowd here at vista point on the marin side the golden gate bridge. we have a lot riders and a lot of volunteers at this energizer station happening out water, food, a lot of brownies. a lot of advise and encouragement if tens of thousands of people who are riding their bicycle to work today. dr. wiseman is with kaiser permanente and you practice what you preach. you ride your work to work every day? >> as office ten as i can. almost every day, i love to ride my bicycle, a great form of exercise and "bike to work day" is a great way to motivate people to get out and ride to work and get some exercise. >> people love their cars. i love my car but what is the

challenge to get people out of the car to the bicycle? >> it is important to your health. it makes a lot sense from multiple angles, it is great for the environment, for the pocketbook, but most importantly it is good if your health. we should be getting a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise five days a week, and everyone is very busy so getting 30-minute ride to or from work is a great way to get exercise in each day. >> and don't forget to stretch before you ride. do not forget wear your helmet and if you are in the car, share the ride with the bicyclists out there today. >> thank you, at 6:47. you may want to check yourself for powerball fever because the jackpot is going up in california, saturday night's jackpot is estimated at $270 million because no one won last night. this is the largest jackpot since powerball started in california last month. here are the winning numbers you
