at 1:00 the artemis, 72-foot race boat came apart doing a maneuver going down wind. we know andrew bart simpson was trapped underwater as much as 10 minutes before being pulled from the wreckage. the yacht known as big red was turning down wind in what is termed a fair away maneuver. the boat suffered a catastrophic failure. what happened, we don't know. >> andrew was a very good friend. >> today the race chairman struggled to get the words out as he described simpson, who just joined the team in february. >> he was doing what he loved. it was his passion. and andrew was used to having done at the highest level that
