race officials will update the possible changes coming to the race after the accident that left an olympian dead a week ago on san francisco bay. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us from pier 23. cornell? >> too dangerous for one sailing team, we have learned they are pulling out of the event. more on that in a moment. first, today at 2:00, teams and organizers will be here at pier 23 and talk about the progress of the crash investigation and where the america's cup event if san francisco goes from here in the wake of last week's tragedy. as far as canceling the event, that is verien -- very unlikely today. the catamaran broke apart on the bay killing the olympic medalist andrew simpson and prompting questions about the safety of the vessels. some say that the accident is actually raising public awareness of sailing. as for postponing or modifying the race, here is what an

traffic on highway four as they cleaned up the scene the. >> developing news from lake county, the search for a missing san francisco girl with severe autism will resume this morning. nine-year-old mikaela renee lynch was recorded missing from the weekend home on sunday afternoon more than 100 volunteers and law enforcement searched the area. dive teams combed the waters. authorities say mikaela renee lynch doesn't speak and has the mental development of a one-year-old. police found her clothes in the yard. she enjoys going into the water but cannot swim. >> more developing news. the parents of murdered 8-year-old leila fowler called off plans to make a statement. now that their 12-year-old son has been accused of killing her. calaveras county sheriff deputy arrested the boy on saturday and he is a juvenile. he told the police he saw an

intruder before finding his dying sister. he is now held at a juvenile facility. >> the former math teamer for a school district arrested on suspicion of arresting a student will be in court for arraignment. officers arrested the 50-year-old robert william lincoln after an ongoing relationship with a student he met. it started in 2011 when she was just 15. he stopped working as a full-time teacher that year but may have worked as a sub. he is currently free on bail. >> today, funeral services take place for two of the women killed in a limousine fire on the san mateo bridge, and a resolutionry took place in fresno for neriza fojas and michelle estrera, both working as nurses in fresno. around 100 people filed into a clutch for the service. she sank songs, and prayed and

mourned their lives. they were two of five who died two weeks ago when the limousine caught fire on the san mateo bridge. they were celebrating her wedding. >> caltran officials face tough questions from lawmakers over the bolt failures on the bay bridge. a state senator is holding a committee hearing. the federal highway administration agreed to look into the problem bolt cracking. caltran's requested the review to help determine whether the bridge can open on labor day. a state investigation blames the manufacturing error for making the bolts brittle. >> a proposal to extend bart service to northern contra costa county is the subject of a special meeting tonight in hercules. the city council will discuss whether to support a study that looks into the issue. two cities is come out in favor of extending bart city to the north part of the county but richmond officials continue to protest any extension unless it goes through the downtown portion of their city. the meeting is underway at 7:00

gorgeous spot from our cam radio -- our camera from coyt tower. the a's take up the rangers and mike will have the game day forecast coming up. >> drivers in the south bay could have one less frustrating view this morning after a clean up effort underway to remove an eyesore that haunted them for years. crews removed graffiti that coughs a crossing at highway 101 or old oakland road, a huge group effort that took a while to get approve because of the trestle owned by caltran. this is what it looks like now. crews got the work done in time for the commute and they still have more work to do but it looks better. fences are going up to keep taggers from the area and the work will continue tonight and tomorrow evening. >> from hurricane sandy to harlem prince harry will see it

80's but only near 60 at your beaches and low-to-mid 70's along the east bay shore with better chicago at -- berkeley at 71. up to 89 in brentwood. for the game forecast, 7:00 is first pitch and sunshine and 64, dropping down to 55. the temperatures are in the upper 40's in the north bay and low-to-mid 50's for the rest of us. yesterday, the energy trough moved through and introduced us to a dry air mass. the next system is moisture laden and the bulk of it heads north so cooler tomorrow through friday and a stray hour is possible in the north bay on thursday. temperatures inland dropped 20 degrees to six degrees at the coast and we will hang out at 70's on friday. we could be 20 degrees warmer by sunday.

the roller coaster is back, the spring sea saw. >> we are going to walnut creek with the drive from concord at 20 minutes to highway 24. a few extra cars in the southbound direction with the lights headed northbound and it is empty on that side. the sun is coming over san jose and 280 is clear away from 17. southbound side, the tail lights are moving swiftly and brick and what is not is brick is the san mateo bridge where we have solo crash at the toll plaza involving a big rig. it is blocking a couple of lanes with a fuel spill with a backup of two miles so 20 minutes from hayward to foster city. >> flames destroy a south bay building overnight. the business impacted and the challenging firefight for the

the east bay shore, from san francisco up to san pablo bay we have the best cloud cover. headed through the morning, temperatures hang out in the mid-50's appear the bay and quicker sunshine and mid-60's for lunch and breezy near the shoreline and 70 at 4:00 down to 63 so you may need a light jacket in the evening. low-to-mid 50's inland and low-to-mid 80's and breezy compared to yesterday and dropping in the low 70's by evening. clouds at the coast and notice, total sunshine this afternoon and highs near 60. >> we have a sig-alert along the san mateo bridge but it looks like san jose is quiet at 87 with not too much traffic approaching h.p. pavilion and downtown san jose. headed to the signature alert, along san mateo bridge, involving a so low vehicle crash

a big rig hit a retaining wall along westbound lanes. we have bumper-to-bumper traffic away from the nimitz and it is 20 minutes out of hayward to foster city. as we go to orinda, the crash involving a motorcycle sounds like injuries are involved westbound 24 beyond gateway boulevard with one lane blocked causing quite the slowing from lafayette. expect delays. >> developing news in the south bay, an overnight fire has destroyed a beauty saloon in san jose. firefighters tweeted this pickets of the fire at the spa on the cupertino border. crews responded to the fire at 2:00 a.m. but could not save the building before the roof collapsed. no word on the cause of the fire. the flames threatened a daycare center but firefighters managed to save that building. investigators believe the salon

could have been under renovation because there was a large dumpster in front of the building. >> in less than 30 minutes a search party will resume efforts to fine a missing nine-year-old girl who disappeared if lake county over the week. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield joins us from the girl's school in san francisco. amy? >> some of her teachers went to lake county to help with the search. i spoke with police and they are still seeing no sign of mikaela renee lynch, who disappeared on sunday. on mother's day. police say she is ought -- autistic. the search is focused around the weekend home, she loves water but cannot spin. divers are part of the certain team. officers say mikaela renee lynch was in the backyard of the lake house jumping on the trampoline before she disappeared. >> she was in an enclosed yard.

there was some sort of a distraction, a bee in the yard and the younger brother opened the gate and went inside and they came back and the daughter was missing. >> police say they do believe she is naked. they found her clothes in the backyard and would often take them off because the medication made her hope. they are hopeful she is okay and able to survive this long on her own. they say the weather has been mild. she has been missing since sunday afternoon. hundreds of volunteers and officers have participated in the search and that is expected to resume the next 30 minutes at 7:00 this morning. >> the parents of murdered 8-year-old leila fowler canceled plans to make a public statement this afternoon after their 12-year-old was arrested in the death. the boy's father considered his son innocent until authorities show him the evidence.

the boy was arrest on saturday. he a minor. he told police 2 1/2 weeks ago that an intruder stabbed leila fowler in their home in valley springs. >> angelina jolie is the talk of hollywood and the world after admitting she unwent a preventive double mastectomy detailing it in the "new york times" this morning. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has more on why she is going public. >> she is sharing her story to help other women, so women know they can get gene testing to predict their risk of getting cancer and wants the testing to be made available to all women. right now it is $3,000 and not covered by insurance which can be a barrier. in her op-ed in the "new york times" she talks of her mother who died of ovarian cancer at age 56 and jolie got tested and found out she carried the gene.

doctors said she had an 87 percent chance of getting breast cancer and 50 percent chance of ovarian cancer but now her chances of developing breast cancer has dropped to 5 percent. she says her partner has been by her side every step of the way and we are hearing from him with a statement thanking the medical team and saying, i fine her choice as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. cheryl crow "so brave." jolie said the procedures starts february 2, and finished the treatments including reconstructive surgery on april 27. >> thank you, katie. the i.r.s. targeting of conservative groups could be morehowing the i.r.s.

offices in california in southern california were of involved in unfairly targeting tea party groups which were reportedly subjected to intense questionnaires when they applied for tax-exempt status. the i.r.s. said the alleged incidents were limited to the cincinnati branch but president obama is promising to get to the bottom of the scandal but bay area tea party leaders say that is not good enough. >> vallejo police are looking for information when a 23-year-old was shot sitting in his car. he was shot in the neck at an intersection in vallejo at 7:30 last night. police say he was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening joins. the shots came from another car. this is in information on a description of the car or information about a possible motive. >> ahead, the update expected today on the america's cup accident that left one olympian dead. >> first, police say this woman

where we have wind. the bay shore is breezy by 1:00 o'clock this afternoon through 9:00. that continues into the delta, northwest winded at 15 to 25 knots the same as yesterday and continues along the coast where it could guest up to 30 knots. 101 at 880 in san jose, off to a bright start. we will have sunny and breezy conditions this afternoon. significant cooling trend tomorrow and thursday and it will hold through friday and a stray shower is possible with the cooling trend on thursday. right now fremont is 47 and the south bay we have low-to-mid 50's toward santa clara, and 51 in saratoga and los altos is at 49. 40's in the north bay including novato and everyone else is in the low-to-mid 50's and brentwood is 65 degrees. in the south bay, quite a spread from milpitas at 75 and san jose at 78 and deep in the santa

clara valley mid-80's. low-to-mid 70's for most of the peninsula, and 61 at half moon bay and a warm spot along the coast and sun is setting when it is 60. up to 80 in novato and 83 in santa rosa and low-to-mid 70's along the east bay shore and to the east bay valley we have low-to-mid 80's as you head out highway 4, antioch and brentwood in the upper 80's. another game at the cove with rangers and a's at 7:05, it will be 64 and then drop to 55. tonight, temperatures are in the 40's in the north bay valley and low-to-mid 50's in most other neighborhoods. we have a chance of a stray shower on thursday. the cold front moving across the northern california, watch the radar return to lunch on thursday, dipping down to the north bay and that is our best chance. look at this, it will be six degrees cooler at the coast and ten around the bay but nearly 20
