good afternoon, if you live in the south bay, you may have smelled smoke this afternoon, it's been a busy one for san jose firefighters they're putting out hot spots from five brush fire that's broke out along highway 237 you can see how fierce it was for a time. the wind blew that around.

checking traffic conditions live westbound is still closed. >> it's quite a mess if you can see the smoke. firefighters walking on the highway made it too dangerous to allow cars back on 237. there is the delay as a result. hopefully they'll reopen shortly. >> a small group of administrators will turn themselves in to authorities tomorrow. >> the district attorney charging them with misusing public money and diverting funds for personal use. >> abc 7 is live from district headquarters tonight with the details on this. leanne? >> this first came to light in 2010. the district attorney's office spent three years investigating this case. six san francisco school district employees are charged with taking money totalling $15 million and putting night a slush fund. district attorney gascone told

reporters what these employees did over a period of 10 years. >> all of the money was inappropriately used. none spent within the perimeters of the grant. it had been done outside of the requirements of the grant. >> gascone says employees funneled money into their bank accounts through three nonprofit organization chz are also under investigation. >> we're mortified at the thought that trusted employees would conceive of such a scheme. to divert funds from the children for whom they're intended. >> a former associate superintendent allegedly pocketed $87,000. her attorney says he will prove them wrorng. >> what is coming out is the incompetence of the school board and people they represent or hire to over see

landing in a courtroom. drake's bay oyster company is in west marin point reyes national sea shore and is trying to stop the federal government from shutting it down down. >> u.s. interior department is the one that orders operation to close last fall and then a u.s. district attorney judge agreed the government has right to make that decision but owners are refusing to give up and today, took their case to a higher court. the three-judge panel being asked to overrule a lower court decision that puts the drake's bay oyster farm out of business. oyster s have been harvested here at the sea shore since 1934 but last november then interior secretary visited the operation and zided the federal land should be restored to wilderness. he refused to renew the lease
