>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news, this is abc7 news. a three-year-old remains in the hospital after a triple stabbing stuns a san jose neighborhood, a one-year-old and his grandmother were killed and this morning we are learning details of the "person of interest," a relative captured after an intense manhunt. thanks for joining us. >> these to deaths are part of a violent 24 hours in san jose which saw four homicides. the incident happens on viewmont avenue and blossom hill and monterey road. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is there. >> this neighborhood slowly

coming to grips with the tragedy which unfolded here on viewmont avenue, people coming by, dropping flowers in front of home where it happened. three family members stabbed, one victim, a little girl, survived. their relative, 29-year-old ruben ramirez is now a "person of interest" in the case, a man who bliss and neighbors say had a hit of mental illness. >> there were flowers and a small angel to the yellow house on viewmont where a grandmother and her one-year-old grandson were stabbed to death. a three-year-old granddaughter survived. >> i feel for everyone. we are all human. i have to raise kids so we never know what happened, we never know what happens. >> two children's car seats are on the front porch of the house and 29-year-old ruben ramirez was picked up on wednesday night in san francisco for questioning in the stabbing. the search for him played out

for five hours in east san jose, and sky 7 captured the drama. police say ruben ramirez had a history of mental problems and never say he lived at the home with his parents and told some he would marry voices in his head. this man did not want his face on camera. >> i did know he was mentally ill, i didn't enjoy until the dad, yesterday, blurted out he had schizophrenia. >> ruben ramirez would be seen pacing in front of his parents' home smoking cigarettes, and the small kids believed his navy and nephew were always visiting. >> i have always seen him playing outside the house, the grandmother out there and some times the moms. >> many neighbors can not believe such a tragedy unfolded on very their own street. >> what do you thing of what happened? >> it is so sad. this is a nice neighbor, a working-class neighborhood, we have never had problems like this before. i feel so sorry for these

people. it is a shame. >> names of the victims have not been released. a three-year-old girl who was stabbed remains whommized in stable condition today. police continue to interview ruben ramirez and he is not being called a suspect at this hour. we are in san jose for abc7 news. >> thank you. happening now, san jose police are investigating the death of a man who appeared to be assaulted in a parking lot of this jack and -- jack-in-the-box. the body was discovered near a dumpster this morning. his identity is not released. police do not have any suspects. >> san jose police are looking for this map, 43-year-old, now a suspect in a homicide that happened at a holiday in until express. he could be headed to mexico in a 1997 nissan van with license

plate 6zqd210. a cleaning crew found the body of the 35-year-old woman in a room at the hotel on monterey highway yesterday afternoon. police told abc7 news they did not find a weapon and are not sure if she died at the hotel. an autopsy is being conducted. >> a wild day on bart and the arrest of a man who climbed all over a bartization in the east bay. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield obtained this video moments after the arrest. police say the suspect ran around the bart tracks and ran on to highway 24. abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, joins us from oakland. >> it is amazing he was able to do it and that he survived this. it started because this closet door was unlocked. he went inside, got up on the roof of this platform which the staff cannot believe. they would need a ladder. but he didn't have one. he hopped on top of a train and

he hopped over this fence on to highway 24, see that barbed wire? even the barbed wire fence could not contain him. it took 18 officers, two hours, to arrest this man this morning while he was standing on top of a bart train at the mcarthur station in oakland during the commute this morning. >> this guy was jumping off the top of the train. it was crazy. passengers sitting on the train did not know at first why they had stopped. then they realized something was happening on the roof. >> we started to hear footsteps and they started briefing us every few minutes of what was happening. >> he first climbed on the roof of the platform and waved at bart drivers at 5:30 this morning. he was also throwing gravel from the roof down toward passengers and the driver's called bart police and that is when he started to move. >> he was jumping from the roof, to 980, back to the top of the

train. >> officials shut down the friend and shut off bart's third rail which caused huge delays. >> i was impacted by 40 minutes. i was sitting on the train for 40 minutes. >> it wasn't until 7:15, two hours after the first call came in, they arrested him. officials say he wasn't hostile to police but he wasn't cooperating. >> we have had contact with him in the past and he has had psyche evaluations. >> commuters say passengers were calm and patient during the ordeal. >> we are all here. we are all late for work but safe that is what matters. >> it took a while but you can see the bart station has recovered. officers have not released the man's name. these is 29. he has a warrant out for his arrest for a dangerous drug charge. he is being evacuated and then he will be taken to jail.

.05". just a stray possible shower. >> crews are searching for survivors after ten tornadoes touched down in texas. the twisters hit about 40 miles southwest of ft. worth. they were deadly. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is in the newsroom with new information. >> estimates are that the tornado that touched down was a rare ef4 with winds up to 200 miles per hour. there could still be as many as seven people missing in the storms. the sheriff says that seven others previously unaccounted for have been found so that is good news. right new, six adults are confirmed dead and authorities still are working to identify the victims. >> with a warning siren in the background, storm chasers captured this video of a tornado that touched down in north texas last night. here is another, it was a terrifying experience for those who lived through it. >> just loud.

very loud. tornadoes, rain, and grapefruit sized hail gave way to this and the extent of the damage is painfully clear. homes are blown apart, flattened, debris is everywhere, a brave few returned to see what was left. the mayor has declared a state of emergency. >> we will overcome this. we didn't lose any lives last night. our hearts breaking for what the community is dealing with. >> all of the deaths happened here in a neighborhood built by habitat for humanity. the search for those missing continues. >> the task force got out and went back through so it has been over and over and over and over again through the area and the subdivision. i'm pretty confident we have not left anyone behind but we are still checking. >> as for the injured, the sheriff says 37 people were

treated at a hospital and of those, 15 were transported for ft. worth area hospital and 19 have been treated and released. in the newsroom for abc7 news. >> we now know what caused a mysterious landslide that nearly swallowed an entire neighborhood. a water leak played a role in the disaster. the community is about 100 miles north of san francisco and the chief of the flood operations branch of the california department of water resources said the soil was saturated with water and the problem is related to the utilities and plans to submitted a report today. an emergency was declared in march after the ground gave way and the homes began to sing. >> america's cup teams will resume practicing in san francisco bay. for the first time since the death of a sailor, during a training run last week. on tuesday, officials announced the races will go on this summer as scheduled. they expect all four entrants to compete, including artemis racing.

higher hills in the eastern sections of contra costa and alameda county. in livermore you can see a light cell moving around south livermore avenue, north livermore, that is a big artery and silver oaks way and you start to get into the wine country. you can see through the sunol grade we have a little bit of a light shower. that is about it. we have low clouds along the coast. that is why we could have drizzle. you can see it banking up around point reyes to the monterey bay but the dry air is rolling in behind this system. the mixture of the air mass is creating a wind over the bay so if you are heading out on the water we will have a northwest win at 15- to 25-knots and maybe gusting up to 30 from right now started when our show started at

11 clock through 8:00. so, that is san francisco bay and, also, the delta communities and you can see the dry air on the satellite, the sinking air behind the area of low pressure and we will see sunshine this afternoon and the atmosphere is why we could have a stray shower. looking from emeryville to san francisco you can see the thick are clouds hugging the coast and that is why we have the potential for wet weather. san francisco it is 62. that should have been there. 65 in oakland and 63 in san jose and palo alto 67 with mill valley at 71. it is mild out there. from the roof camera this morning, a nice picture of a calmer condition outside right now, and cooler today, a hour is possible, and brighter, still, but, cool again tomorrow and a dry week coming up with temperatures soaring back to summertime levels, and highs today are in the low 60's around san francisco and upper 50's at the coast and upper 60's and the bay shore and a few 70's with the sunshine developing in the

north bay and the east bay valley. as far administration around this day, our best chance of wet weather will be in the high country during the afternoon hours, such as tahoe at 52 degrees and rain and snow in the extreme high as this is a late may system coming in from the north. tonight, it will be cooler than this morning, and we will have a few clouds around and potential for drizzle at the coast but with the clouds opening and the cool air coming in we have upper 40's in fremont and palo alto and santa cruz, and napa and santa rosa to half moon bay. here is what is happening, the system coming on down, you can see the jet stream trying to push it through our neighborhoods but it is running parallel so it is taking a while to get there so we have our best bet of wet weather before noon. beyond noon, that is a stray shower in the forecast. tomorrow's temperatures will be like today and a jump, not very big at the coast, but about six to ten degrees around the bay and inland for saturday and another eight to ten degrees arm from the coast for sunday and we day warm into monday and a slight cooling tuesday and
